This language is something that came after the vikings and the norse(norrønt). I'm learning about it now, my teacher showed us Bendik og Årolilja. Gåte made the topic pretty interesting!
@deluze86 i've been learning norwegian for a few years now. i am pretty good at understanding spoken norwegian on the radio, but i have to be honest, i didn't get ONE word of that text lol nynorsk? more like no norsk to me. good music though
the video is based directly on the lyrics. The subject of the song, in this case, is a 'Hulder" (A huldra, as it is spelled in Swedish and loaned to English, is a spirit from Scandinavian folk lore not dissimilar from a succubus). I've not gone through the trouble of translating the bulk of the song, but from the words I was capable of picking out, it alternates between the chorus giving warnings warnings and the calls of the huldra in the verse.
I think you would like them more actually! I like it that much more since its a dialect, however I don't have a problem understanding her words though...
but it's true that norwegian is hard to learn because of all our different dialects, and even some norwegians have troubles understandig others... that said, most people with dialects knows how to communicate with them by imitating the dialect from the capital city (because they're normally the ones that struggle, no offence attended) Cheers
@Gunnarcia the song is about an Norwegian mythe... A woman called 'Hulder'. Back in the old days they atracted the boys out in the woods, and took them home. They never came home. You could see that it was an Hulder by looking if she had a tail.
Gunnhild's voise is great. Magnus is scary. This is a really good music video, and this song really hits me! Mixing Norwegian folk music and metal is a absolutely fantastic idea! Gåte <3
Is there any translation for this wonderful and powerful song? I found the lyric but can't translate it because it's nynorsk. I'm only a beginner in norwegian bokmal and I would be pleased to have some help.

@Blixish Nynorsk is very similar to Swedish.
Some examples:
Nynorsk (and many dialects) and Swedish: Sida, sidor (noun) and dansa, dansar (verb)
Bokmål (and many dialects) and Danish: Side, sider and danse, danser
Also the word for begin is in Swedish börja, in Nynorsk byrja and in Danish and Bokmål begynne.
(Unfortonatly, some Nynorsk writers use the Bokmål words instead.)
There's many more examples I could have used, Nynorsk is very similar to Swedish, but also close to Bokmål.
