Democrats are hardly socialist. If you look at all the democratic countries in the world, the Democrats are comparatively a right-wing party and the Republicans are a far-right wing party.

in the US, democrats are left because they try to control everything and republicans are right because they believe in individual freedom and limited government. of course not all politicians (democrats or republicans) are honest people, most of them arent. but the belief system of the republican party makes more sense to me. we dont all want to become borg now do we? ha. i know i dont

I'm getting a dual degree in International. Studies and American studies, and in my view...From a global perspective, Democrats are centrist and Republicans are right wing... but as C12830772 pointed out, world is far too complex to force onto a left-right spectrum anyway (even though I just did that...)

With that low budget and the appearance of a children's show, they influenced generations of scientists, engineers, teachers, salespeople, short order cooks, doctors, slackers, writers, and now, Presidents. The artistic merit of the show can be debated, but its cultural significance cannot! Coming from a guy who hasn't even seen much Star Trek, I hope they all recognize their role in American culture and are deeply proud.
