Wow! What a moving and beautiful story. This inspires me to make a playlist of troops and their rescuing of stray dogs in Afghanistan. I can imagine how those eyes would make even the toughest guy into mush. After all the ugliness they see over there, to come back to base (missing their families) and get the unconditional love of a dog....priceless to them, I imagine. Thanks for sharing this...I'm a huge animal lover and this is so very heart warming!

My Uncle and Father both said that in the 50's the dogs were left behind. They never got over that. So many Air force and Army stories to tell, but the dogs never left the hearts of these men. It is a hard pill to swallow for any dog lover.
