R.I.P LUX:( . you are one hell of a frontman and are very much missed . POISON IVY rocks the gretsch better than anyone ! the CRAMPS will live forever! stay sick!
@Hhound BTW.. Cramps fans might wanna look on P2P or torrent sites.. 10 years or so ago.. I get footage of the Cramps playing at a mental institution in California...very odd... peeps in PJs wandering around and some chick doing some spinning-dance while they are playing.. reminded me of the Ramones - Psycho Therapy video.. but it was real life/real-time... tottally surreal
No matter what you think of their content or Lux's stage antics, The Cramps remain one of the most technically sound bands ever. The music is awesomely tight. LLL.
The newslady at the end is hilarious. (quietly, very British) "...The Cramps." She looks as though she might be related to the bass player. The nice sister, perhaps?
@wildsmart Stay Sick, the album containing Bikini Girls and Muleskinner, was released in 1990. Their last album was released in 2003, so Lux was "toast" for a long time before he died suddenly and unexpectedly of an aortic dissection.
@admanphoto though i think your part right, that the cramps are one of the best rock n roll bands I wouldn't say they were the best, I think the stones take that crown, the cramps are a very close second
@JohnDevoto92 That list was in no particular order, just the top five sitting up there. Ordered they would be The Clash, Tom Waits, The Cramps, Iggy Pop, X
enjoy this and every other live clip cos that it....i was lucky enough to see the cramps live a few times in London... never shy to be different and they were original never followers. RIP Lux u are missed
First time I saw a photo of "Poison Ivy" (on the cover of a long-vanished magazine at a Tower Records), I thought, "She's the kind of woman mothers warn their sons about"--but boy, she plays some WICKED guitar!
Lux had the right idea...belt out your tunes like a drugged-up Elvis, and get some hot chicks to play on guitar...add one catatonic drummer...THE CRAMPS!
When the Kipsigi tribe of East Africa first heard the music of Jimmie Rodgers (such as Muleskinner Blues), they believed he was a satyr-like pagan fertility god. I can't imagine how they would flip their lids if they heard Lux.
How on earth did this band not make it big, and on top of the charts. For goodness sakes this kind of talent should be playing Super Bowl half time shows.
Saw this when it was originally broadcast (The Late Show, BBC2) and taught it was totally ace. I was familiar with The Fendermen's version of Mule Skinner Blues" then so it was a nice surprise to hear The Cramps do it. Still looks and sounds ace!!
They opened with Mule Skinner at the Latin Quarter in Detroit in '90 or '91....that show changed my expectations for live music forever. LUX/IVY in our hearts for real!
Great band and songs, but the camera work made me want to hurl. Looks like this was the Late Show on BBC2? And why didnt we see more of Candy Del Mar on bass? Boo Hoo!
Fantastic! First time I've seen this since it first aired, four coolest people on the planet. Only one objection - not enough close ups of Candy. God, she was hot.
one of the most amazing bands that ever walked the earth,a twisted male frontman surounded by two beutiful women on bass and guitar, i dont know who to drool over candy or ivy.
