this is one of the thing i notice when I got a my iPhone 4s. Before I bought the phone, I didn't see any review about the upgraded speaker of any sort. Soon or later, I knew someone would notice this beside the other bells and whistles in the 4s. Great for when you need to face time with people while your parents is blasting music during a karaoke session. Two thumbs up for the upgrade.

After a year of 4 use and after a week of 4s use I conclude personally that the 4s has more distortion than the 4 and is also less able to produce a full range of frequencies. It sounds tinny compared with the 4, and I always loved the excellent SQ of my 4. This might indicate that the same manufacturing process was used for both phones' speakers but the volume governor is just set higher on the 4s. Just sayin'

guys.....it's really not that big a deal that he turned up the phone volume. He was doing a video based on the loudness of the iPhone speaker, it's really not odd to instinctively turn up the volume.

In audio terms 6db = twice as loud. Ie. if you up a track from 20db to 26db, it's twice as loud. So quite an improvement!
