  • I love the Smiths, but I would punch Morrissey in his pretentious face

  • theres something in the way he talks, not just what he says, but how he does it. suddenly even the smallest things morrissey says, that seem to be not important at all, happen to be everything i want to hear. i could listen to him forever.

  • It looks like he has quite an under bite

  • I can't agree more with the top rated comments

  • He's so gorgeous.

  • not modest but true. his point is intended to be good, and it is. But it's strange how he is so shy but so non-modest. I think people expect people to be modest so when they hear someone, who is quite sophisticated and non social, they find him pretentious. Which is not true. What an interesting fellow.

  • M'CR ! <3

  • I love how he's quite shy and finds it hard to get close to people, quite alot like myself actually

  • @canthemum , I meant the part about not fitting in lol , I do have a job & have always worked since leaving school 25 years ago

  • It's been stated before many times in the comments for this post , but he could be describing me, in a world where the mundane are idolized mozz is a beacon of hope in the darkness

  • @wesmander

You expected people to work so you didn't have to? Griped about tough times while others slaved for your nonworking family?

Get jobs and quit whining about problems you do not have.

  • what were the songs in this video?

  • What a horribly awkward meeting with his old teachers. You can see Morrissey dying inside

  • He's so wonderfully dramatic and poncy.

  • hang on - isn't it annals of history. :)

  • @InParticularNobody I half-wonder if he meant to do that just for fun.

  • @Vittoria10538 - hah. i think you're right, in retrospect. that's really rather wonderful.

  • Maybe Morrissey appeals to those of us who understand life is no easy ride and a sense of pride at not letting life beat us. Laugh at Morrissey if you must, but he made it because he had the goal to make it..... All I wanted in life was to be famous... It takes guts to git up on that stage and sing about yourself!

  • He has such a pure soul actually. Most kids today probably want to identify their life with Lil Wayne or Katy Perry-but the things Morrissey speaks of are what most of us-at some point identify with. My own childhood/teen years was "adverse" as he says-but the things that seem small and uneventful often keep us surviving. I love this video.

  • I don't see it as arrogant. It's so much more profound than that. When he looks at the camera at 4:08 he does so knowingly. He's not ignorant of how he is perceived.

  • Melodrama ftw

  • Wanking furiously more like.

  • @cosmicvoi HA!

  • Boring, and scared of change! 2 mins with this guy and i would need to smoke some ice argggggggggg

  • Hees so awesome such deep thoughts.

  • @IplayBASS4theKIDZ Yeah because that's important... you prick.

  • whats that song at 4:10 please someone respond need too know

  • @4lifeemerica back to the old house of

  • @4lifeemerica back to the old house taken from hatful of hollow

  • Jeff Buckley looks like Morrissey in this interview on the cover of his album Grace

  • He is a very intelligent guy actually and has a lot to say.

  • I suppose one can afford to be this arrogant when they are bright.

  • He seems to be the sort of arrogant guy that I can quite happily go on worshipping - but if I knew him in real life I would probably want to punch him

  • @SmileAtTheMoon see it the same way. although i hate some things he says already

  • @SmileAtTheMoon Im so with you hes so annoying but my god hes amazing :)

  • Pretentious, moi ?

  • To understand Morrissey is to understand "loss". His words touch our sadness in a way that he would never trully recognize, since it would make Morrissey look back at the sadder moments of his life and ours. Every song he sings speaks of a dream unbidden, yet unspoken. How many of us know this....more than we'd like to say.

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • hahahahahahhahahahah

  • Best band ever,

  • YES!!!! I WANT MORE MORE MORE MORRISSEY!

  • That was really interesting...

  • I could never tire of listening to Morrissey talking.

  • @mimoma99 Looking again at 4:08 and my heart speeded up, I started panting and sweating and something melty happened down south. No kidding! How sad! LOL

  • Hello muffin man

    . . . Sorry - your point is what ?

  • Morrissey is the legend he is because he's MORRISSEY. Who cares if he's socially acceptable or not. I' am and always remain a die hard Morrissey and Smiths fan. In these days of Z factor he remains a beacon of normality.

    Viva Morrissey!

  • A bacon sandwich will cheer him up

  • Bloody iPhone !

. . . not model yourself on him

Unless you can write songs & sing as well as he can

They you can do what he did - get a few million in the bank - and go to LA and say to hell with everyone else ! !

  • Don't get me wrong because I am a huge Smiths & Mozzer fan & have been for over 25 years

    BUT . . .

Socially Mozzer boarders on autistic . . . He is awkward and shy and - well - often not very nice really let's face it . . . And he admits as much himself

Don't confuse his huge song writing talent and great voice with him being somehow socially cool

He would probably be the first to say he was not

Without his voice and lyrics / poetry there would not be all that much to commend him

    So I would no

  • @Silvergoldstarfish I was autistic as a child. I "grew out of it" and at 18 relate to everything he said. I don't you as much as people like you don't understand me. excuse me, I enjoy solitude, being able to let my mind run free, and let that be fuel for creativity. maybe he's perceived as shy and awkward because he knows he's a brutally honest person being pressured to fit into a society that believes ignorance is bliss. if Morrissey were any other way he wouldn't be Morrissey.

  • @MufinManProductions *I don't understand you

  • how can someone so miserable bring me so much joy...i feel so depressed when i go to school and the only way i can really describe it would be like before i walk through the door to my classroom, i put some sort of fake happy mask on....and i hate it....but its always nice to know theres someone out there suffering...i suppose hes got the guts to be himself around others....honest and sincere....i cant be that. im not brave enough.

  • At the same time as bieng the most miserable cunt on earth, He's also the most hilarious. The sarcasm is so evident yet not a lot of people see it. Side splitting guy, even just watching this. To much Love for this man!

  • Read, Stayed home, no social life. I swear i have a similar childhood to morrisey.

  • @goldensolder44 It explains his controversial public personality too.

  • @goldensolder44 ha ha Me too! When I heard him say that, I literally said, "Oh, wow, that sounds like me." XD

  • Not remotely arrogant

What is the matter with you people?

That was a very touching piece

  • mate just gave me a ling to this video, hes afk now. My question, who is this guy ?

  • @koleszpolski Morrissey from The Smiths.

  • @j3s0n Ah cheers man

  • 4:04 what an arrogant little man.

  • @setyoursights2north

he's not arrogant. it was meant tongue-in-cheek. watch a few of his interviews and you'll notice he has a rather dry sense of humour. i like the fact he doesn't take himself too seriously.

  • He's coming across as arrogant - but he deserves to be. Sorrow is loves only son.

  • i love and admire his honesty...

  • FUCK ME MORRISSEY!

  • somehow his hectic comments and views make me want to love him more

  • His fashion here is perfect. Like James Dean, if he was a fan of Oscar Wilde.

  • hahahahahahaha so goofy still very enjoyable

  • course he's fucking arrogant. that's why we love him.

  • Maybe he is arrogant, but I mean have you seen the guy? Can you blame him?

  • Yeah, it's proved to be QUITE TRUE....

  • Who else MELTED at 4:08? (;

  • @dinksta I did! :)

  • I love the bit when he meets up with his old school teacher; he looks like shy and embarrassed - so sweet!

  • THE BEST MAN AND LYRIC WRITER ON THE PLANET

  • @megasteinman The word you are looking for is = Lyricist. ;)

  • I'm English and where I live everyone is deoressed including myself. I'm moving to Florida to become less depressed. Just look at Manchester back in the 80's...It's pretty much still like that. A grim, depressed shit hole. Nothing else

  • An actual living icon.

  • hes not arrogant, hes just a cunt !

  • Morrissey just got injured in dog attack:Apparently it didn't care that he is a member of PETA LOL

  • I'm going out for a walk

  • Charming Man! :)

  • 4.32 Morrisey in gretny walk,moss side(brave man)

  • all the morrissey fans just wish they could live in his arse. seriously ive never known such fan boys

  • @glitcher999 Bieber? Althoughs they are mainly fan girls. Fan people, shall we say?

  • @glitcher999 I totally get what you mean, you can't say the slightest negative thing about him without getting attacked by a bunch of fanatics

  • @chrysillo atleast im not the only one !

  • what was cool about morrissey and the smiths in general is they were so much more sophisticated and mature than all of the bands around them They were completely original and unpretentious. They were just extremely good.

  • Morrissey is Morrissey.

  • I don't think theres any modesty in Morrissey at all.

  • Lol at morrisey fans ...if he did a crap in the middle of the room you'd make excuses and say its his art or some dumb fake garbage..sooo funny

  • @XxpauldadudexX You like Muse. LOL.

  • what a joke.

  • If you are from Stretford, you can understand this man perfectly; Its a one ticket to depression.

  • If you are from Stretford, you can understand this man perfectly.

  • i adore him, british icon.

  • He's not arrogant, he's Morrissey.

  • No one can deny he's a really bright guy

  • I love his smirk at 4:07

  • Morrissey was a depressed shut-in, if he wasn't arrogant he would probably end up like Ian Curtis. Having a high opinion of yourself is important sometimes.

  • look at him. he's lovely.

  • he's arrogant with a brilliant smile. there's a distinction.

  • writing furiously...''writing frightening verse to a...'' ;-)

  • @Sistahsouljah2009 Bucktoothed girl in luxembourg, ask me ask me ask me...

  • 3:50 Best line EVER.

  • Morrissey is a genius, end of.

  • 4:07 ahhh nooooo

  • @EnehRock Wow youre stupid

  • @Carlkeane What the hell?

  • im moving to england, hope everyone is not morrissey fans. depressing as fuck

  • @wattiedog oh be quiet. England is a perculier place. But England is not, Morrissey is not and English people are not depressing.

  • learnt alot from this thanks for uploading :L

  • wow... thanks for putting this up... first time ever seeing this.

  • That smile should be illegal.

  • Love this...

  • I love that cheeky smile at 4:05

  • dude, who cares if he's arrogant..... it's Morrissey.

  • @mceihtisagangsta Jesus was arrogant.

  • He doesn't seem like a douche, he just seems shy

  • @Zeldaboy91 i don't think he's so shy actually, he is confident and only him can understand him

  • 3:53 the greatest line in history.

  • oh Manchester, so much to answer for.........

  • nice voice!

  • Manchester looks grim in the 80's

  • @kkg108 much of England was grim in that perod

  • @TeapotSeamstress Try Viva Hate, Vauxhall and I, or Your Arsenal. Amazing albums. Some of my favorite songs he ever did are on those.

  • whats the song at the end?

  • @gandi09 back to the old house - the smiths

  • @theside27 Thanks

  • True words from a true man, Sadly there is very little truth left

    in society today.

  • as much I love The Smiths and Morrissey, does he know what a smile is? Cheer up!

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone know where this is taken from??

  • what a douche... fucking love his music though.

  • What a cutie...

  • 2:27 , This was a very sadistic school very barbarISM BEGINS AT HOME

  • What an intelligent man.

  • Beautiful interview.

  • 4:09! I think I'm in love...

  • I wish Mozz would chill outside of my college...

  • @TeapotSeamstress i would see morrissey fans sometimes have bumper stickers that read mozz, is that short for morrissey or his nickname?

  • @tiana1017 Both I guess, it's short for Morrissey, it's what Johnny Marr nicknamed him, although Morrissey himself had said that he's never liked it, because it reminds him of something you clean the floors with xD

  • @TeapotSeamstress thanks =)

i regret giving away my smiths records, i had two of them when i was in high school

  • @tiana1017 Damnn.... Must suck :/ I'm sure they'll be easy enough to find in record shops, seeing as The Smiths are popular :}

    And you're welcome (:

  • @TeapotSeamstress yeah i'll just get a few of the smiths cds and a couple of morrissey cds, I gave my morrissey greatest hits to my sister, idk for sone reason it didnt have a lot of good songs or maybe i didnt realize it, im gonna try and get it back from her though lol

  • @tiana1017 In my opinion, The Smiths are better than Morrissey (: I've only got one Morrissey cd but I don't like it as much as The Smiths'. In fact, in all honesty, I used to hate that album (ringleader of the tormentors), but now I love it :) Good luck with that darl :)

  • I am not a gay man, but damn was he attractive..

  • when he says the anals of history you have to think

  • 2:15 she really embodies the conservative english persona

  • Where did you find this footage? Is it on DVD or VHS?

  • Thank you

  • best interview i have ever seen.

  • i don't think he's being cocky, he's just telling the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Neither us nor him can deny his success. It's better than being modest.

  • some miscalculation of nature brought me here.

A man who believes in fate.

  • he's not arrogant he's confident

  • All I have to say is: Thank you Morrissey, thank you so much for being there for the minority of people who aren't socialites and who prefer to set in and write. You are a true genius.

  • @HollowVoices I completely agree with you here, I'm 18 years old and unlike most 18 year olds today who feel the constant need to go out into clubs and intoxicate themselves to the point where they can no longer walk, I would much rather stay in and write as well. Sounds odd maybe for my age but like you I agree that Morrissey and mainly Morrissey alone has allowed people like us to feel a connection with him and find that we are not alone in what we do, as you say, he is a 'true genius'.

  • @DrivenbyyouFreddie intelligent people like to get intoxicated til the point where they can't walk anymore too.

  • @hydeph I didn't say that they weren't intelligent, I merely stated that unlike most 18 year olds I personally don't feel the need to intoxicate myself to the point where I cant walk.

  • I really dont understand how he can say his childhood is wiped away due to a buidling being demolished.. would he want to go back and live there with all the money he has now? no.. he feels great anger.. come on.. complete loss of childhood.. get a grip.. complete loss of childhood is maybe abuse or horrific displacement due to war.. not a building being knocked down.. thats self absorbed wank!! When he talks all I hear is someone who thinks he gets it.. but doesnt..

  • It is quite true.

  • @svetagor I found it in Louder Than Bombs :D Thanks anyway! =)

  • @svetagor this is a different one from the one I have, i have Back to the old house from Hatful of hollow, do you know from what album is this version?

  • Comment removed

  • GUYS DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S THE SONG THAT STARTS AT 4:06, since nobody answered the comment below.-

  • Whats the song tht startes at 4:06? haha sorry I`ve liked The Smiths for a while but haven`t listened to them as much.

  • his face at 4:09... epical sexy

    and I'm not even gay

  • @MisterSpinalzo You don't have to be gay to fall in love with him, It's normal, I'm in love with him and I'm totally heterosexual.-

  • @WinterDweller yeah but it doesn't make it less fascinating

  • Prodigy

  • Comment removed

  • I think this guy is utterly fascinating when he speaks - and sings of course. He has a smugness which is entirely justifiable.

  • I have had a similar background like Moz. My old house is a parking lot, my grade school is long gone, and all of that sort of thing. I also spent (and still do) lots of time writing. If I'm not, I am reading, either a book or something online that I'm interested.

I didn't go alot either as a pre-teen once I doscovered writing. It's all I have ever wanted to do, and nothing more.

  • Great Post !
