try leaving the disk in where it does not work(i.e. no attempts to fix the problem just insert it normally) turning off the system then simply turn it back on with the disk in there. that worked for me.

Solution- Turn your ps3 upside down then enter the disc and the game should work its worked for me everytime , if it doesnt work for you then theres something els thats rong with your ps3 :)

Mine will read the disc for a second or two then stop. I had a guy fix it and it worked for about 2-3 hours then froze when I was playing Mass Effect 2. I cut off the console and it proceed it screw me again as in it read it for a second the stopped. Any help?

@GetHoliod However, the Xbox will make a nice little...scratch, if that's what you want to call it....on your discs if it gets any vibration at all.

I owned both...I admit, I'm mad as fuck I had to buy a new lens for my PS3, but I still prefer it over the Xbox, sans not having Halo 3.

I sold my Xbox on e-bay to get my PS3 money back.

Just opinions though, let's not get into a fight about this.

@Necrophagistf Yea, it's a mystery to me why it works, but the fact that it worked in the first try for months (and still does for my friend), shows that it DOES do SOMETHING.

PS: Fallout New Vegas was the main cause of my problem, although Black Ops made it worse. I will no longer play Bethesda games on PS3; I'll just play them on PC. I suggest you do the same.

@moneysunnysunita Classic symptom of this problem. Games are bluray, DVDs are not; they use different lasers.

When this method stopped working for me, I had no choice other than replacing the laser. If this doesn't work for you, mail me and I'll help you with the laser thing. I might make a video showing how to replace the laser, but I have to finish moving from home first (Feb-March)

It seems God didn't want me to show others this. After I stopped recording, this method suddenly stopped working. I had to do it about ~15 times on average for it to work.

However, I replaced the laser a month ago. Permanent fix. $60 off my wallet though.

However, I replaced the laser and it was fixed. So it was my lens that was the issue.

If I was you, i'd take 1-2hrs looking at videos that show how to replace the laser. It'll save you tons of money (The laser itself costs $60, imagine how much the service would cost!)

This does not work in my case. My eject sound comes much faster (5 seconds) and I don't even get the spin sound. Very rarely (1 out 10) attempts, I will get a full spin sound and then the eject. I've inserted my COD Black ops about 100 times and Benny & Joon blue ray about 75 times.

Started getting this weird false eject-thingy too, maybe its going to bust any day now.. just when I'm getting my Dark Souls XD but this trick helped, it doesn't do this with all games tho.. only GoW3 and KZ3, many other games just work in one shot. :F
