I wouldn't say everyone hates dubs. There are many different reasons. Too many to list here. One of my biggest pet peeves with dubs is that they sometimes edit out too much and/or change the original meaning. Of course there are voice actor elitists that don't even give dubs a chance. Certain comedy anime that contains colloquialisms would probably not be understood in English or would have to be changed entirely.

Cartoons are pretty much different from anime. Look up the differences. Anime has originated from western cartoons, but transformed into something new in their own thing. Anime is soo popular because that it has tons of crazy, different stories to it. Cartoons have simple stories to them, none that are really complex.

Even though you really couldn't heard the music, you could feel the emotion from their expresions, and you could even tell one song from other by the way they were singing in the manga. So, really, I loved the manga. The anime was a nice add to it, of course, since I, as I think most poeple did, wanted to actually hear the songs played and all. (I was specially curious about the bass, since all they said was "funky" :P)
