Which year is this audi?? It is not same thermostat as in mine audi. I bought that little thermostat thingie, i went to service shop and they say that my car has an electric thermostat not the one i bought. I was like WTF. I dont understand this thermostat shit at all.
In comparison it's super simple on my S6 V8 -95, just move away a radiator hose and put your hands down to the elbows, around the fan and remove the thermostat :-)
Awesome comments......shitload of fuck is the best I heard for years.....and I just happen to know someone that finds himself there right now because he did not take time to listen to someone who knew.....hohohoho and lol
It should be noted that to take the fan clutch off, there is a large nut between the fan clutch and pulley, if you loosen that, the clutch comes right off.
These cars relly annoy me i have to change a thermostat and have to almost pull the motor apart to get to it, couldn't they have designed it in a more accessible place ?
I have to replace my water pump on my 05 A4 1.8t. and iv been dealing with a multi misfire code for a year. These car are nice but suck for maintenance.
awesome video on audio water pump, I hate to ask stupid questions, but here I go, what is everyone talking about a special tool, does this have something to do with why you made sure you talked about top dead center? am I safe if I mark the gears and the timing belt carefully and dont move anything once I remove everything? can you possibly give me good tips on what you were talking about top dead center about, kind of confused there, and again, thanks so much this really helps. Ron
@vegasmediacorp You will see the mark on your housing and the pulley. Make sure that they are together. Top dead center is when your #1 piston is all the way up. You can check this by taking out the #1 spark plug and using a small extension. When you rotate the pulley by hand you will see the extension go up and down because its on top of the piston. When it is all the way up (extension is the longest sticking out before it goes back down) you are top dead center. IF IT IS NOT SET YOUR ENGINE
@vegasmediacorp (continued) WILL BE SO OUT OF SYNC YOUR PISTONS WILL BE SLAMMING INTO YOUR VALVES AND YOU WILL HAND GRENADE YOUR ENGINE!!!!!!! Just picture the BLUE ANGELS and if one pilot started to turn into the other pilot too early! BOOM!
hey guys, sorry to bother, i need to change my water pum in my 2.8 2000 that is licking water, so i should replace the timing belt as well but is there need to change more stuff, i mean since im gonna take the front off should i change something else, i found this kit with (Timing Belt, Timing Belt Roller, Timing Belt Tensioner, Serpentine Belt, Thermostat, Timing Belt Tensioner Dampner, and Belt Tensioner Lever)so is there need of all that and/or something else since i have the front off? thx.
I have to change the water pump, timing belt and thermostat on my B5.5 VW Passat AWD wagon. Isn't it basically the same with the 2.8L engine in the Passat?
by the ways,,, sorry to ask again,,, i cant find the special tool but also im wondering if do i really need it? i mean im very sure that it hasnt (jumped timing/out of time) so do i really need that tool or can i just make some marks? thanks, i would apreciate help... thanks a lot...
@artieale There is really no really special tools. Just make your line and mark sync up like shown in the video before you put the belt on, check it after the belt is on.
@crewdogg15 actuallly the camshaft locking bar is a must for this job and can be got for 70 bucks (crank locking pin should be used too) unless u have the balls to do it without the bar and take the risk of having ur timing off by a few teeth or worser and then screw ur engine.... i mean yea iv seen ppl do it without the locking bar but the results arent always as good... and for the 70 bucks i wouldnt and didnt take that risk...
I'm having a problem with my 2001 A4. I'm getting no heat. I flushed the cooling system and heating core. It gave me heat for a bit then stopped again. My thermostat works fine, the car remains at 90*c. What I'm thinking is could it be the water pump not being able to push enough pressure???
@haveri5 Put some food coloring in your radiator resevoir, see if their is a cyclone of color going through the resevoir tank. If its is weak or none exists, its your water pump.
