Nice video dude. I love the Mac Pro. I have a 2009 "Nehalem" with 8 Cores (2.26 GHz), 16GB RAM, and an ATI 4870. I can run Crysis Warhead at Enthuiast graphics while using only 22% of the CPU. Bootcamp with Windows 7 64bit is amazing on this machine. I have four programs running at a time, Photoshop CS4, Safari, World of Warcraft in Windowed mode, and even Final Cut (all windows side by side) and only 46% of the CPU used. What a great power-saver. Mac has been the best computer maker for me
I have a macbook pro and when I use photoshop it uses like 30 % of the gpu XD but still a very good machine for every day life or for semi professional
My computer only uses like 15-20% of the processor while running Crysis at max settings and photoshop, haha... And that was using 16% just running PS and some standard apps. It's not THAT impressive, but still a very nice computer. Now if only I could afford it, lol.

Do tell us exactly what kind of graphics card you were using that is compatible with a single-core motherboard and capable of running Crysis at a decent framerate at anything higher than 800x600 in DX9 with everything turned off.

It can have as many as possible (there has been large drive-support in Macs for a while). The problem was that 2 TB-drives werent even available when this Mac Pro was released (you surely know about it)

My computer has RAID built in, so I have dual 640GB drives making a super fast 1.2TB drive, so my computer can load and save faster than any computer without RAID, and my 4 cores run faster this his. 2.26 vs 2.5ghz.
My dad has an 8 core (dual quad xeons), 16gb ram, and I SMOKE his computer with my $800 home built PC. I wonder what you'd say if you sat down in front of my computer? It doesn't need a raid card and can support 20TB of hard drive space, 16gb of ram, 2 video cards, 12 USB ports, all for $130. The dual CPU mobos offer 2x the ram slots, but to fill it, you'd spend $4000!

the people who uses Mac needs a lot of ram and data because we produce music, movies etc and we are running a lot lot of programs at the same time. its clearly that you have never owned a Mac. You get what you pay for when you buy a Mac PC. OS X is 100x more stable than windows, a mac never crashes, never get the so called blue screen of death. and it just runs faster, because all the hardware is personally made for the mac PC's.

4 dual dvi output video cards for 8 video displays - I have them! Along with 16GB of RAM, 3 x 1TB HDDs and an SSD.
I use it with Modul 8 software for 7 screen multimedia displays for concerts and events (1 for the control screen and 7 for the screens. Have also run 6600 x 1080 video files across 3 full HD screens (1920 x 1080)

well, games don't run on macs natively, but you can use boot camp to run windows, and then it's just a PC with Mac Pro's hardware, which with you can definitely play new games.

get your hands on 1 raw photo and copy it 100 times. Then open adobe bridge (if you can afford any software after you got ripped off) and process 100 raws into 100 jpegs compression 10.
I did this same test vs my dads 8 core mac, and mine won, BY A 17% margin!

My computer has RAID built in, so I have dual 640GB drives making a super fast 1.2TB drive, so my computer can load and save faster than any computer without RAID, and my 4 cores run faster this his. 2.26 vs 2.5ghz.

My dad has an 8 core (dual quad xeons), 16gb ram, and I SMOKE his computer with my $800 home built PC. I wonder what you'd say if you sat down in front of my computer? It doesn't need a raid card and can support 20TB of hard drive space, 16gb of ram, 2 video cards, 12 USB ports, all for $130. The dual CPU mobos offer 2x the ram slots, but to fill it, you'd spend $4000!

It can run games. Perhaps not at the very highest settings, but to the point where they are playable and still look good. I agree PCs are far superior for games. (This comment assumes that the user is running Windows natively on his/her Mac.)

and if you guys just wanna play games, why dont you just buy a Playstation 3 Slim, it got multiplayer too and you can play all games so smooth and you play on a bigger screen. Plus you dont have to install the game. you can do everything you need on a playstation 3.. if you wanna play WoW? its no problem for a mac.

well i mean it can play windows games (Boot camp\ parallels sucks for games), plus there are some GL Ports of some games... they are sucky though, Windows games are faster and with 8 cores expect everything to be above 60fps (depending on the game)

the people who uses Mac needs a lot of ram and data because we produce music, movies etc and we are running a lot lot of programs at the same time. its clearly that you have never owned a Mac. You get what you pay for when you buy a Mac PC. OS X is 100x more stable than windows, a mac never crashes, never get the so called blue screen of death. and it just runs faster, because all the hardware is personally made for the mac PC's.

Not much difference in performance between most SSDs and eSATA drives, as most of the SSDs have poor drive controllers, designed by memory companies, not drive companies, but they are getting better, and the prices are coming down.
Exceptions are the Intel SSDs, though they are around 3-5 times the price. They will give you a sustained 250Mb/s read speed, a bit more than the best eSATA drives, and it is a sustained speed.

4 dual dvi output video cards for 8 video displays - I have them! Along with 16GB of RAM, 3 x 1TB HDDs and an SSD.
I use it with Modul 8 software for 7 screen multimedia displays for concerts and events (1 for the control screen and 7 for the screens. Have also run 6600 x 1080 video files across 3 full HD screens (1920 x 1080)
It's just a tool to do a job, but it does it very well...

Are you a super-scientist? Do you work for the NSA, CSA, FBI, etc? From the looks of how you've got this thing set up in your home, the answer is no.

Intel CPUs don't game well at all and, for that price, I'd expect that thing to play my games at or better than any Windows-based machine with relative ease, yet they cannot do this. It really can't. I can get a graphics card with 1GB or more, if I wanted that capability, and it'd be more well-rounded than this thing.

that is not the problem. THE BEST MAC ONLY HAS 512 MB of RAM in its video card. you can't play shit with it, and you can't put a 2 GB VIDEO CARD, like you can in a pc, the best mac video card has 512. So it's kinda crappy. And do not tell me that the processor or RAM is more important in a game 'cuz it's not. THE VIDEO CARD IS !!

First of all PC's can use OSX also, just not legally, making the pc faster, and windows 7 is just slightly slower than OSX making the extra .40ghz on each core, adding up to 3.2ghz more would surpass OSX even if i was on windows. I could also be on Linux/Ubuntu, which is faster than OSX. Second of all just use google and you will find many links to mac pro's getting destroyed.

well, games don't run on macs natively, but you can use boot camp to run windows, and then it's just a PC with Mac Pro's hardware, which with you can definitely play new games.
if you want a PC just for gaming and don't really want a mac for...mac things (video editing, music editing etc), then i suggest you get a PC with similar specs for a lot less money so you can have more cash for more games!

I mean, I saw the video but I still can't wrap my head around the performance. 32 apps, and, not a hint of exertion.
I suppose that's since all the tasks you threw at it were 'common' ones. But really, the only context I see this computer not being overkill is in a 3D Lab, or some other professional setting.
Also, I loved how well organized the case interior is! It seems like it'd take no effort adding more components.
