  • 7 peoples eyes were filled with tears of joy that they missed the like button.

  • This song is a tribute to DIO. So fucking cool, awesome song too.

  • This album isnt bad, i just hope they dont continue this path.

  • @guitar7901 Whaaaaaaaaaat ?!?!? The album is one of the best ! I know they changed the style, but to me the album is soooo Great !

  • @omar51196 If I wanted to listen to rainbow then I would, this isnt opeth at all. Their last tour they didnt do a single heavy song which dissapointed me greatly because katatonia which is my second favorite band of all time was there and i wanted to hear katatonia being melodic and opeth heavy

  • @guitar7901 Well yeah it is dissapointing to be promised for something and didnt get it, but to me I like the album so that Damnation which was really soft ! Opeth is a progressive band, they change. But be sure this was`nt the end of the old Opeth.

  • @omar51196 Akerfeldt has hinted numerous times that it isnt the end, watershed was suppose to be all mellow, but they ended up adding the lotus eater which is one of my favorites by them

  • sounds like a jazz band doing a motorhead parody

  • @Zofti yeah, but in a awesome way

  • the only thing that i think is missing on this album is a 15+ minute song of this masterpiece .. a song with a very long and emotional solo pink floyd style

  • Love the intro so fucking much! :D

  • For those people complaining about how they're not heavy anymore...Opeth aren't a band about being heavy...they've always been a progressive band. This is a great addition to their sound, even though I like their older stuff better.

  • LOVE IT

  • The guitars at the start, love it

  • just... just.... megusta

  • Bom Trabalho ...

  • Sounds like an Oriental Motorhead

  • Yo dawg, you can check my channel for new opeth videos with lyrics.

  • Sounds a lot like Rainbow, which isn't suprising when you know that it's supposed to be a Dio tribute and that Akerfeld is a big fan of Ritchie Blackmore.

  • @DreamPurpleFloyd I like your username.

  • @Vonzaku Me too haha

    Thank you =)

  • @DreamPurpleFloyd Big time Rainbow sound going on here...and it sounds like the singer is channeling a little bit of Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull.

  • @TheCaplocks Funny you should mention Ian Anderson. I had my 54 year old dad listen to this album, and he said, "Hey, is that Ian Anderson singing for a metal band now?!?!?!" I replied, "No, there's no rock flute." hahahahaha

  • @DreamPurpleFloyd well yes, also at their concert they did mention (very clearly) it was a rip off of Kill The King XD they wrote it right after his death

  • Jetzt noch den Ian Gillan als Sänger dazu, dann is das der geilste Deep Purple-Song seit geschätzten 20 Jahren....

  • the album is incredibly awesome i have listened to opeth since the beggining and this has been one of the greatest records they have made

  • Opeth and Amorphis :D

  • Rock n' Roll Baby!!, Rock n' Roll!

  • This album makes Satan smile

  • This song is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio, mikael said so in a interview.

  • this album makes Opeth more 'accessible' to my brain. I always loved the music, but couldn't handle the growling vocals, made my throat hurt...sorry for those 'hardcore' fans that think this is 'wimpy', but opens new doors for listeners, thanx guys....

  • rock? it changed a lot...

  • @Tveitan666 still awesome

  • @Tveitan666 still better experimental album than lulu XD

  • @sebisman2 fucking indeed hahahaha!!! XD

  • @sebisman2 True. That. I AM THE TABLE!

  • Thrashy

  • hail opeth. r.i.p. ronnie james dio.

  • pure '70 hard rock...probably due the fact they are Deep purple fans and most of them played with jon Lord...so what is the innovation here?

  • @nazzare79 Reading some of the background interviews and such, they were trying to explore their musical background (their "Heritage" if you will). Innovation wasn't really their aim anyway.

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28 yes, that's just journalists aim...

  • Just listen carefully.. It sounds like Motorhead's ace of spades but in Opeth style :)

  • @robios154248 ......How?

  • The solo reminds me a little bit of Death and last Nocturnus stuff

  • I miss the death metal Opeth. Not saying that this isn't cool, I like this too quite a bit. But nothing beats Morningrise or Still Life.

  • @DeIMarrrrr You think this is the "new Opeth"? I was under the impression that this album was kind of just a break. I hope they go back to some heavier stuff too, but this is pretty damn cool too.

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28

Yeah, I think this may be their new sound. And yeah, it IS pretty cool, just different. Something to get used to.

  • @DeIMarrrrr I wish they'd have settled for a sound like Ghost Reveries. That album had it all. I wonder if Michael burned out his vocal chords or something. I heard that the last tour was just as growl-free as Heritage.

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28

Yeah! Ghost Reveries was a fair middle between "new" Opeth and their death roots. But, on the other hand it's rare for a band to be able to change their sound so drastically AND keep old fans interested. All around great band, one of the very best I've ever heard.

  • @DeIMarrrrr First meal band I ever really enjoyed. I've diversified since then, but it all started with Opeth.

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28

Yeah, same here. Opeth and Fear Factory. Actually, my interest in Opeth stemmed from Ayreon.

  • @DeIMarrrrr That's interesting , most people i know liked Opeth and if their music taste was weird enough they stemmed into Ayreon. I personally got into Opeth first too , but then i found Loser - Ayreon , found it bizarre for a minute , hell got into it after the fiddling bit =P

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28 It's true he can't growl like he used to, but he defiantly can still scream

  • The outro reminds of of something in Morningrise...=)

  • goddamn people this is a tribute to ronnie james dio, mikael said it himself in the gig where i were.. he also joked that this is a ripoff.. don't take it too seriously, after all, this is a fucking amazing song.. deal with it!

  • first song ive heard by OPETH that i like

any other artist that play like this?

  • @guillotinedeath Rainbow, Deep Purple.. :D

  • Just saw em at Metro's, Fremantle, Australia, they played this song, they kicked ass!!!!!!

  • Deep purple much?

  • On the side "119 likes, 3 dislikes

    Artist: Opeth

Playing at Palace Theatre, Melbourne on Dec 18" I JUST GOT BACK FROM THERE.

  • @SoapSoapCrayon They're playing Perth in 6 hours! Can't wait to see them! How was the show?

  • This song got me my first speeding ticket :(

  • fuckk yeahh!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio. This song should've been a tribute to Opeth.

  • @MoonlapseOpethian Shut the fuck up. Opeth isn't dead.

  • @MikeTheGuy00 Of course not. Opeth is alive and well, and still (unlike some legends i know.) Dio is a legend and he'll be missed, but I seriously doubt that this is the only tribute song out there for someone as influencial as he was.

Sorry to say, but Opeth deserves a tribute more. Even though this is their own song, I was just making a joke.

Dio will be missed. Calm down. Opeth is amazing enough to get a tribute song dead. (Since last I checked, you don't have to die to get one.)

  • @MoonlapseOpethian Well said!

  • sounds like deep purple, a lot!

  • 2:50

for caressively soothing massage upon ones hearing

  • This and The Devil's Orchard are best song of Heritage

  • Saw this Live :) It's a masterpiece, dedicated to Ronnie James Dio

  • @KainShadow how so?

  • @KainShadow HAHA! I have the CD playing on my car, and as soon as I heard the intro I was "Fuck, this sounds like Rainbow!". Especially the solo is really like Ritchie Blackmores playing (sounds like the "Burn" solo intro to me or something)!

  • @xAntiNazix hahaha SAME HAPPENED TO ME!! I thought "Uh? OMG this is Blackmore!...sounds like...dunno Gates of Babylon"

  • Hated this song at first, but fuck man my ears cant lie to me. This shit rocks. I agree that this is an awesome live song, they even have a nice hammond organ solo after the guitar solo.

  • @C20H25N3Ofya

This happen to me to. I'm a big fan of the band but at first i hated the entire album. Now it kinda grows on me.

It looks like opeth know how to make music in every progressive genre

  • PURPLE GOES CRIMSON!

  • 2 People are fucking deaf

  • this sounds a little bit like hocus pocus by focus at parts

  • lackluster my @ss...

  • Saw this live last night. This was fucking awesome. Got 3 picks from Frederick and had general conversations with him during the set xD

  • @metallitrooper : Yeah, they are very cool ! I've checked Fredrick's hand, i've seen Mickael in my city with squash rackets (héhé) and speaked with Fredrick and Mendez in the street !!!!! And seriously this song ROCKS live, mickael jumps everywhere, do the twist (yes he does)... Awesome show !!

  • @metallitrooper nice work. Im going next week. Are they playing mainly Heritage songs or a mixture of old and new?

  • @vimreepa a mixture :) You'll love it. add and let me know if they play A Fair Judgement. The ending was absolutely amazing!

  • @metallitrooper That's fuckin kick ass man! I bet that was nuckin futs!!! I have a James Hetfield pick from when I seen Metallica in Detroit '09 Found it right on the damn ground when the lights flashed haha But I didn't meet any of them, and and the same time I wouldn't want to anyway. Now, Opeth is a different story!!

  • @BurzumThrone It was definetly something Ill never forget!

  • Favorite song on the album.

  • @divine0enigma I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THAT!

  • I saw this live on wednesday!!!

  • instant classic

  • only 32 likes? this needs to be fixed!

  • 2 days xD

  • Wtf is rainbow O.o?

  • @Susyownsyou I didnt know either. Look up stargazer. You will not be disappointing. Dio's vocals makes it amazingly epic. Reminds me of Kashmir by Zep, so if you enjoy that, you will love stargazer. Im not much of a fan of the rest of rainbows stuff though...

  • @Susyownsyou Rainbow is one of the bands Ronnie James Dio was in before he went solo, and also before he joined Black Sabbath. If you really want to have a laugh check our Elf, hell, even stuff pre-Elf if you can find it. VERY very different than what most of the world is used to hearing from the man.

  • @Susyownsyou amazing band. you'll know it when you hear it i'm sure :)

  • @DennChooch Yeah I checked it out, they are great lol

  • @Susyownsyou Wow, you noob!

  • This is exactly like Kill the King LONG LIVE RAINBOW!! LONG LIVE RITCHIE! LONG LIVE THE KING DIO!!

  • It sounds very much like Rainbow. That's probably why I like it so much...

  • Dio. :)

  • @URSoFired555 more like rainbow, actually.

  • @DennChooch That's right. Mikael did in fact say that when I saw them play live matter of fact. It's just that I'm so proud that Opeth created this rocking masterpiece in (Ronnie James) Dio's memory. :)

  • @URSoFired555 it says so on the album booklet too, which i doubt many people will read. it's pretty cool. i'm not a fan of Dio's music though.

  • Everything on this record is fantastic. This is one of my favorites on the record.

  • Don't like this song so much, but I seem to remember from their concert Mikael saying this was written as a tribute to Dio. It's certainly a throwback to early metal.

  • Love!
