  • Just what I needed to know, thx!

  • can i use car charger instead of a battery, and if i could how many amps should it be set at

  • so bin so lieb

  • i do it the redneck way and just bridge them together with a screw driver lol

  • @44boman it dont blow the relay liek that?

  • @hp11208 lol nope, well atleast i havnt had it happen

  • Great tutorial

  • great job, relay helpful!

  • @1520cesar I see what you did there, clever

  • I'm guessing that if I don't have access to a meter to do this that I could do it and just listen for the click and that would tell me that the relay is functioning properly? Or would it still be a possibility that it could still be defective even though it clicks?

  • @facestomp88 good 1.i cudn tell u if the click was good or bad,,i wud like an expertise answer on da same question...i have a motorcycle an the ignition quit workin, everytime i turn the key i hear a click from the relay but the starter doesnt engane wen i hit the start button,it used 2 not click wen it was workin but now a click and its not workin but the relay in the vid clicks and it works fine mine clicks and does jack shit

  • @jlinn91 Probably a bad starter. When holding down the start/ignition button try tapping the starter with a hammer if it starts turning then the starter has worn brushes in it

  • This would have been better if he had his testicles out the whole time...alligator clips optional.

  • i dont have 30 87 86 85 on my 12v relay i have 1 2 3 5

  • I'm confused. if I hear the relay click when I apply the 12 volt source, if the relay trips is there still a chance that the relay isn't working?

  • so my meter shud be set on resistance (ohms side) or set to continunity

  • @jlinn91

Pretty sure he meant to say Continuity instead of Resistance

  • Great video! Found it very useful - especially today. thanks!

  • This is Ok but not the best as you only ohm checked it with-OUT a load on the contacts. sure it shows continuity using a ohm meter but so will a lead trace on a piece of paper or a single strand of wire but neither will carry a load that a automotive relay will. To check a relay or switch you MUST load it! The BEST & ONLY true way is a VOLTAGE DROP across the contacts LOADED.

  • @ab0ad very true

  • The central locking sysytem has a problem..does it mean that the relay is damaged if so how do i locate the relay the vehicle is a ford windstar 1996,and the knoba keeps going up and down till the battery is drained

  • Many thanks!

  • Request for videos if the won't start ?. The battery is 12.5V and all connections.are clean. what is the next thing to do ?. Thanks

  • I a problem with my 2000 honda accord lx v-4. When i press the brakes my entire dashboard lights up?

  • lol i bet that must be funny

  • @dan185z did u get it fix,was it the brake ligth switch or something

  • Hello i have a question would a bad relay or missed placed relay in a 89 cadillac make the car not want to start everything works the battery is charged though it was that wasnt then thought it was gas not that either messed with the relays days before this happend and now doesnt want to start let me know thank you

  • well it can't be misplaced relay, because relay only goes in one way. It could be a bad relay. You might want to check on the reference thing to which relays are for starter and replace those. Relays are only like 3=4 bucks each so not that expensive.
