just ordered mine, just a little help for anybody considering a pocket camera, the zi8 is better than the flip in every way -better image quality -better microphone -looks better -same price -macro mode -image stabilization -removeable bsttery -better battery life -expandable memory -etc

Anybody help me? My Zi8 seems to have washed out colors and the overall image is blurry/ not very sharp. Just ordered it too, usually do 720p 60fps with EIS on.

I have this camera and I love it, but I have one question. How do you turn the widescreen off? Whenever I upload the videos, I can't figure out how to get it like your footage, without the black widescreen bars.

in Vegas, to get the audio back.. change your Zi8 video file names from .mov to .mp4 .. there's another longer way to do it also which is available somewhere here on You Tube.

i would go with this one the zi8 because it has better quality and isnt that much more expensive. if you want all the quality you can get for a good price. then for sure go with this.

I just bought one last night and it should arrive by Thursday. I'm so jazzed about it. I have several 1GB SD cards I've collected but not sure how well they'll work. Really looking forward to playing with it. I'll need to get an external mic for it but that can wait a bit. Great job on YOUR video, TC!

@BrotherStove Thanks a lot for the nice comment, I appreciate it. I don't think you will be able to film much with 1GB cards, you will probably get a maximum of 5 minutes on 720p. I would recommend a 16 GB card or a 32 GB card, which is the maximum. I have two 16GB cards and I can get about 2.5 hours on each on 720p. Hope you enjoy your Zi8.

I'll give it a try first but I do know I'll need a bigger card before too long. :) What I usually film isn't much anyway. If need be, I can record what I need, switch cards and if I want to save the footage, just dump it to my hard drive and continue. So, you still like yours? And you can call me Russ. @BrotherStove O yes, I am enjoying it a lot, except that I'm having editing problems with the videos I take; for some reason there's no audio when I import the video into my editing software (Sony Vegas) but it's only because i use a PC. I heard there's no problem what so ever when using iMovie. nice to meet you Russ...=)

Cool beans, TC! I'm currently using a JVC MiniDV for my stuff and you can clearly see just how poor the quality is compared to the zi8. I'm on a Mac Mini so I don't see how editing is going to be a problem. I may soon look into getting a lens attachment (i.e. wide angle/macro/fisheye lens) kit - that'll make for an even more interesting shoot. :) Pleasure's all mine. :)
