I caught Supertramp on Wednesday night at the London 02 and really enjoyed it. I'll admit that Rick playing Roger's songs is a bit disrespectful and childish, but at the end of the day, Supertramp, like many bands, will attract even the most casual of fan, who won't know about the 1983 split, let alone know who Roger or Rick are, so let Rick, John and Bob play their hearts out on this tour, the same with Roger on his solo tour. Each to their own folks!
Not knowing until now the acrimonious nature of the split , and losing interest in the band after Breakfast in America, I looked at video of what is listed as Rick's music on YT. I don't recognise much of it and clearly Roger was the major creative influence in the original band as I remember it. The videos on YT of Roger singing these songs today prove that. Research now over, I know I can skip Supertramp next time they're in town and won't be adding to the view count of Rick's material
I'm glad to see some of Davies material on here. As for the description... it's not a cover of someones song when said song has the band's name and history attached to it. Pink Floyd still played Roger Water's songs after he left. Are you gonna bash them for that as well? Besides.. the tour this song is from... NONE of Roger's songs were played.
We hope "Better Days" come, when Mr. Davies realizes that It’s very healthy that some people like blue and others prefer yellow. There’s room for everybody. There’s no need for Mr. Davies to “rape this universe” (= Roger’s songs, rights and fans). He has to realize that he is able to gain audience by himself. He doesn't need to use Roger Hodgson songs.
Roger Hodgson cannot be replaced. All his songs performed by other people are only gray cover souvenirs of the original ones.
Roger's has been touring solo. You can have this great experience of listening his classic Supertramp songs, and beautiful solo ones. Not only because Roger is the composer/writer of those songs. But because they are part of him, during the show he gives life to the songs. The songs then dance around the audience, get into our hearts, and we are able to go everywhere. Not only the old guys, my son too(16) experienced it twice. Check Roger's tour page.
Why Rick Davis in the title. I was looking for Rick Davis
