Whats the background music when you're in the monkey area. That music sounds somewhat similiar to some of the original Unreal, and gives it that extra creepy feel. I love it.

@IanCooked If i remember right, yes. while bioshock wasnt a direct sequel, it was a sequel in spirit. If you notice, alot of the gameplay mechanics are similar, from the overall look and title, to the use of body modification, in bioshock through plasmids, in this through cybernetics.

I agree this being a horrifying game consider it´s age and all. I´ve seen the once who copied it and this one could still be pretty scary... since I´ve only heard of this one I´d now like to try it out. Heck, I´ve already tried some later worse games so why not! This was a good preview of the game and you had a very good control of what to show and what to skip. And I see you´re more of a careful player, which is good considering you can´t see the horror otherwise.

I remember that. Got some good points, but i played as fighter. Lack of ammo, reviving enemies and weapons going junk after shooting two clips really screwed the game. And somewhat lunatic, like almost all Irrational's titles.

Well, Unreal is one of my biggest favorites of all time and it's atleast sci-fi FPS game. More like Quake than SS2/Deus Ex, though. I hope someone else has more and better ideas.

OH yea! If you like cRPG then FALLOUT 1 and 2 are definetily ones to pick up. If you can stomach really old games, then I recommend, Syndicate, an isometric real-time tactical game from Bullfrog Productions created in 1993. Damn brilliant game.

yes and no, I definitely think that if u played this u will love dead space and that the makers of dead space were influenced by this game, but that like saying all shooters are ripoffs of doom/wolfenstine, both this and deadspace are scifi survival horror games set on spaceships with upgradeable weapons and psionic powers making these games quite similar and even an alien type virus that turns the crew zombies. But system shock has a very different feel to it and a much better villain Shodan

If my memory serves me correctly in 2000 Electronic Gaming Monthly featured System Shock 2 as the number 1 scariest game, even though it was a 1999 release date (I guess it was released too late to be included in last years issue). It also received BEST SOUND DESIGN for all games of 2000. I played this game on an OLD system (Rendition PCI graphics) with an AUREAL 3D Sound card which is (STILL to this day) SUPERIOR positional sound rendering to ANYTHING Creative Labs makes.

This was to my opinio the perfect game. It had it all right. The music. The silence. The voice acting. The creepyness of it all. The interaction with objects around you. You could hide behind objects. I miss the stillness and the eary silence of the ship, with the shuffling of your feet against the carpet. I played the whole thing on magic mushrooms to make it more real. And it was an experience any serious gamer should try!

You should get the hi-res pack. It takes a bit of work to get it working, but it's worth the time and effort it takes, trust me.

I know and I have tested it. SHTUP is really nice indeed and I recommend to use it also, but Rebirth mode for better enemy models I almost never use. Rumblers in Rebirth Complemented edition look pretty sweet, though.

I just bought Bioshock for X360 yesterday. Its great game and propably best console FPS I've ever seen, but blood, gore and murdering small children was last thing I bought it for. Although I love this thing with little sisters and Mr. bubbles. I just love Mr. Bubble.

My Bioshock dialogue text is coming little bit late or too early for some scary reason. Just like in the demo. Anyways, so far the game is gorgeous, fun and I enjoy playing it!

System Shock 2 is indeed one of the best gaming experiences that I have ever experienced. It was nasty since I wanted to know more what happened on the ship and at the same time I was so scared I couldnt progress much at all. All I can say is that modern or any other horror game does not even come close to the atmosphere that this game has. All in all its a very intense game experience and one of the best. If you havent tried it out and youre interested, try to get it into your hands.

I first played SS2 when I was 9 or 10... Basically haven't played it since. I think I will play it again, though. It probably gets my vote as an equal best game ever with Fallout 1 and 2. And is by FAR the scariest... No game can really come close, except maybe Alone in the Dark... But I was young when I first played that, so shut up >:(
