Do not buy a Culligan system. They are designed to break. They use standard industry resin beads that will not last (made for water with only 6 grains of hardness). Their system is plastic and glue. Their warranty covers only the control valve for 10 years, there are over 120 other parts to the system not covered. They have a B with the Better Business Bureau. They are not licensed by the California Depart of Health to even claim they can remove containments from your water.
I am very satisfied with my Culligan Water Softener and Reverse Osmosis system. I never run out of soft water and use very little salt. My drinking water tastes like bottled water, without the waste. I like that my Culligan man is a part of my community and part of an organization that has been doing business for over 70 years. I could have gone with a cheaper alternative, but for my family, I want the highest quality water, from a name I trust.
