@gummel82 Not at that temperature, you need to exceed the upper critical temp of steel to change it's structure, and that temp is something like 760C. Steel glows around 500C, and I didn't see any glowing disks, so they were no where near hot enough to harden. PS. Brake disks are hard anyway, they're usually martensitic (mostly), since their job isn't to be tough, it's to be hard and to resist warping...

@P1LGY in the real world you can harden rotors without getting them red hot,im a mechanic and i've seen it before,rotors that won't take a machine because there hardened,chatter way too much on the disk machiner and leave big scores,even on very light cuts.also many euro cars have soft rotors that wear quickly but give excellent braking.
