There are hundreds of vids, and as the show went on it got much better. This is a vid from when the show was first getting started. Plus, the sport has rules so you don't hurt the people watching. We have the most powerful robots in the world (attack drones: Predator and soon to be X-47B), but you can't use that crap in the arena.

yeah, but back then the Lexan safety shields were too low, so the shrapnel woulf fly OVER the walls :P. Later on, they raised the wals, but the shrapnel flung by Blendo ripped through the walls, so they demmed it too hazerdous.

Apparently, Blendo's impact also immobilized himself. A few more shoves from GoldDigger confirm that Blendo is dead.

GoldDigger rushes over to Blendo, but Blendo is already at top speed. GoldDigger looks for his opportunity to move in, which comes as Blendo accidentally moves too close to the arena spiked wall and hits it, slowing him down. GoldDigger moves in and is immediately tossed around by the still-spinning Blendo, landing upside down after Blendo's impact. GoldDigger, reeling from the hit, comes back, but Blendo has stopped moving.

Blendo isn't perfect. Its fame comes from the fact that it was the innovator of the full body spinner design, and the most destructive at the time. It wasn't as successful in its BattleBot days for a few reasons, one of which is that it wasn't allowed to spin up before the match started like it could in Robot Wars. Any robot with with a kinetic energy weapon has to absorb the same energy that its dishing out, so its not uncommon for a receiver wire to come loose or something similar.

The motor and base of the robot did not spin; the dome and blades were attached to a heavy metal ring which rode on a ring of rollers mounted on the base. The 5hp gas engine powered the ring via a centrifugal clutch.

The drivetrain was made up of two tiny drive wheels with a combination of clutches and chains powered by the gas engine. So if the engine dies not only does the weapon quit but so does the drive

This video is a huge part of Mythbusters and robot combat history! Blendo is the first ever kinetic energy based fighter, a design that now very commonly used. Mythbusters was started because the producer met Mr. Hyneman at this event. Also, Adam was the one who wired the bot!

blendo was powerful, the blades on the sides were ablle to literally throw the other robots over the lexan barriers, and thats why blendo was banned, blendo could esily rip the metal bodies off of the other robots
