  • I really despise people like that. Making up new definitions for universally understood words is only one example of the kind of superior shit they pull.

  • Holy shit, I thought her sneeze was an assassination attempt!

  • This clip is 9:11 minutes long... A NEW CONSPIRACY HAS BEEN BORN!!!!

  • @Turtleluver26 HOLY SHIT MONKEYS! IT WAS RANDI!

  • At 8:20 Teller is just like "What The Fuck???"

  • There is No way, that you can logically compare the lies of Environmentalist, to the lies of Religious people ! what are you kiddin me ?

  • I love the part where Penn admits he was wrong. That shows that he isn't just supporting some pseudo-skeptical dogma but that he is a true skeptic.

  • That lady needs to shut it...

  • Damn that sounded like criss angel on the last question...

  • I thought the UU lady was both annoying and excellent. She proved Penn to be wrong, but Penn made a strong case to defend. This is skepticism, this is what it is about. If you found the lady to not "belong" I don't think you understand what skepticism means.

  • Where do I sign up to get in on the next meeting?

  • That Penn's idea in the first minute is priceless.

  • That annoying woman doesn't belong there.

  • I love that someone called Penn on his intolerance for tolerance. Penn often projects his Libertarian values on skeptics and not everyone agrees with his politics or his broad characterizations. For example: his rant about the use of the word "Fundamentalist" says more about HIS projections on Southern beer-drinking trailer trash, rather than what most people might actually think of when they think of the word. I like that he encourages reason, but he doesn't always practice it himself.

  • I involuntarily clapped at 0:54

  • That lady is so annoying. She just keeps going on and on.

  • What she's describing as "a set of binds you live your life by" sounds a lot like morals or ethics- not religion.

  • @mikehaarisdemoted As a Unitarian Universalist and skeptic myself, I can say that UU is absolutely more about an ethical system and having a community than it is about religion. There are religious people who are UU, but being a UU does not make someone religious. In other words, I agree with you.

  • @centrino105

No, P&T are skeptics, you are a cynic. Large difference.

  • what that lady is describing is NOT religion that's a philosophy or an ethos. Religion by definition is a set of beliefs based on supernatural claims.

  • Yea, she's a fucking moron. Unitarians are a hodgepodge of beliefs including Christianity, Paganism...

  • How is it different from Christianity? That amount of pagan stuff in the bible...

  • "Religion is a binding set of beliefs."

Doesn't everyone have a binding set of beliefs?

  • I have no binding beliefs. That's part of my religion.

  • @acr08807

But not having binding beliefs is a binding belief.

  • LOL @ that religion question. What facts is she talking about?

  • If your 'religion' is that vague (and seemingly not at all religious) you should probably not call it religion at all.

  • take her mic away

  • That dumb bitch needs to shut up.

  • wow... 16 thumbs up on this comment...

  • hehehe aww, teller sneezed!

  • I was listening very carefully, and Teller sneezes making me jump out of my seat :D

  • That was a fake sneeze. He was annoyed with Penn's patience with that crazy old woman.

  • @mojoxrisin You're just a regular Sherlock Holmes, aren't you.

  • @acr08807 What is the point of that?

  • @mojoxrisin The point is to let you know that it's really not necessary to explain the obvious.

  • 5:42 hahaha

  • "unitarian universalists"= well-meaning but ultimately loony new agers

  • I was once a unitarian and I was no where close to a "loony new ager". That is a huge generalization. When I was a unitarian I was looking for the truth (over time I considered myself to be part of different religions). Eventually I concluded that all religion is bullshit, no matter the beiefs. I gradually adopted an atheist philosophy, so to say, and I now consider myself to be an atheist.

Calling unitarians "loony new agers" is such a retarded judgmental generalization.

  • The largest group in the UUA are secular humanist. Many of them don't believe in any supernatural things. Other members do. But the group is more about bringing people with different beliefs than "new ager" beliefs.

  • I like how the Unitarian or whatever lady was handed her ass when Penn read her the defintion of "religion" from her own dictionary and proved that she didn't even know what it meant. I hope she's a little wiser for it now.

  • about the woman asking him to be less hostile to the word religion.

personally i like it, why not hijack the word religion and faith away from the dogmatic religions like they have hijacked certain words away from others, like sin and faith.

  • Lol what a retard @ 2.30.

  • Unitarian Universalism - "broadly refers to any religion and theology that believes all persons and creatures are related to God or the divine and will be reconciled to God"

  • thx amazingmeetingvideos! hehe

I LOVE PENN & TELLER!!! hehe!!

    teller sneezed!! haha!!

  • That was one mighty sneeze.

  • Did they speech of my on 0:30? One can of beer , watch race car and are ain't superstitious...

  • I wonder just what her motives are for insisting on the world religion. There are perfectly secular words like philosophy and even life style to otherwise describe a belief system.

  • Her motive was to seek attention and to appear smart. End of story.

  • Yep, she wanted the interview to be about her. As she is very special. And Penn was very sympathetic and obliged her. He probably felt sorry for her.

  • Fuck that old lady.

    Hehe!

    Teller sneezed!

  • Penn's reply was great, but I wish he hadn't been so apologetic. Religion by definition is superstition... If some crazy old lady doesn't want her "religion" insulted then she shouldn't be pretend to be something she's not.

  • religion = SHIT. so fuuuck it. XD

  • Penn is really smart guy !!! This guy makes me ask my self about a whole lot of question ,and if they can do that ,and they do i call their show 100% success !!!

  • god that old bitch wouldnt shut the fuck up

  • It's weird that so much is made of what the word religion REALLY means, as if this made up label has some kind of ultimate plantonic meaning inside it to be discovered. It doesn't contain meaning any more than a red light contains the meaning "stop"

What's important is being clear about what modes of thought and ideas you agree or disagree with. This argument seems to be about what label to put on the tin, rather than what's in the tin. Penn was clear that he is against pushing supernaturalism.

  • lol "That would be a great show for you to do"

  • Wow that was a great reply from Penn to the woman talking about religion

  • That lady got her ass handed to her. I wonder why would a person who calls herself skeptic argue over the semantic of the word religion.

Just use another term to define your set of beliefs. It's certainly better than get in discussion about how your religion is based on scientific method everytime someone says that religion is a belief in god.

  • You can come to the next Amaz!ng Meeting which is in June of this year. Penn & Teller will be there once again. Have a look at our website for more info.

  • I would love to see a book about Randi's life.

  • There is currently someone working on the official Biography of James Randi. A date for completion has yet to be set.

  • I would of liked to have been there in person! But this will do, cheers!
