I like this video! Is there a common thread to all these pics? They seem to keep showing up in front of the same old garage. Was that a backyard motorcycle shop or clubhouse? Cool video thanks for sharing this.
CyberTT must not ride... The bikes are SECONDARY, man! The whole lifestyle is what's important... The bikes are jus' a part of it... damn kids don't know what's important anymore.... Thanks for puttin' the vid together... I've got some old b& w pix of my mom and uncle on his '39 and she's TOPLESS... Then again, I think she was about THREE at the time. =) Respects
I have never owned one and have only ridden a few (I'm a Suzuki fan). However, as far as I'm concerned if ya don't like the fact that their parts are outsource deal with it. It's getting to the point that NOTHING is 100% American anymore. Try to buy a pair of 100% made in America Levis(Good American icon). OUTSOURCED 100% this year.... how about a Timex watch.... nope, been outsourced!!! Hell, at the rate we are heading Mom's Apple Pie and the Girl next door are next.
INice picturecompilation.I drive a 43 WLA and a 67 FL all summer for years and if serviced correct they almost never fail. They give lots of joy.I hope meaby one day to own a classc Indian. These are realy great.

Of course, the time of these big, noisy, mechanically unreliable and slow machines is over. They just can't compete with modern, finely tuned and fast Hondas and Kawasakis, despite their Romatic appeal and there avid fans.
Remember where you live, this is not Asia or Europe. And remember that when these were being made Japan could not even come close to making the so-called American quality that you disparage. This video needs to be enjoyed for what it is. A fond look at the past and that is all it is.
Those machines were great for their day. But they were not as tight as they could have been - beckoning Triumph and Honda to come. TG the workers at AMF bought the company.

Hardley Davidaughters SUCK!
If HD really was PRO USA, they would build quality machines that perform like well oiled machines rather than use out-dated technology, and poor quality standards (not to mention price gouge their cult members). You PRO USA idiots should know that over 60% of your parts are made outside of our borders! Ride like you stole it bitch!!!!!!!!!!!! peace out girl scouts!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for all your bad experiences with all the Harleys that you've owned. And, I am quite aware of the fact that Harley has out-sourced many of their parts. My oppinion of what you ride, is...if you don't like what you're riding, buy something else. I've owned both foreign and domestic bikes and I've enjoyed all of them. I guess, because I just enjoy the freedom of the RIDE itself. That's really what it's all about. God bless America and the Freedom that we stand for! "Boyscout"
2nd. I see you're not an HD Cult member, so I come in peace... I couldn't have written better myself... Freedom of the ride is what it's all about! Peace out "Boy Scout"! Ride like you stole it!

i've owned 5 harleys, all of them old. the one i am riding now is also an antique 1200 flh (1974). i have also owned a kawasaki 900, which i liked but it was over with after two years, and two bsa's which i fried within a year of each other. so a big part of manufacturing in america is having parts made wherever to your specs and putting it all together at the end. ( in this case, in milwaukee.) big deal. it's still american designed. so much for throwaway foreign manufacturing.

what a breath of fresh air to see all these shots, and appreciate the past and its iron and simplicity, just magic, and stuff like this we will never see again in day to day motoring..shame thats for sure,,thanks mate and well done here !!!
thats an awsome clip, now i feel robbed because i was born way to late in life, wish i could of been there,i tip my hat to those folks in the photos, the only time i get a meager taste of that era is when i ride my 42,wlc. and try to imagine a different era.
This is the kind of bike rider I looked up to when I was a kid and wanted to ride that HD just like them on their way to the races in Peoria. I lived on Rte 116 in the country and the would be riding back west to their home with all of their lights (sometimes dozens of them) on. I could hear them coming when sitting in the backyard on an August evening and run to the front and watch them go by. Thanks for the memories
Most of these photos were taken in So.Ill. My grandpas Harley shop are in many of them. My dad has told me stories of their trips to the Springfield races..."good times".
Just curious does anyone know the story behind the hats they wore in those days..?

I turn the sound off on this video and play the George Strait song from iTunes while this is playing. It works perfect.
