  • has cool sound this traxx f 160 locomotive.

  • I think it is a BR 189. A BR 185 has not 4 Pantograph's.

  • Siemens :D

  • Very nice steady whine!

  • nice locomotive 5*

  • But it is by the German locomotive builders Siemens.

It runs on many European railways yes

  • @BlauerSittich

German built, but it's only called "Taurus" (trademark of the ÖBB) in Austria (as austrian I have to say that ;) ). Too bad the Taurus 3 no longer has that sound.

  • this is the usual sound of cooling fans

  • No, what you hear is the pulse frequency of the traction converters

  • run on block signals and train orders/radio dispatch?

  • has grate sound the traxx f 160

  • it´s 185

  • @kokotisk

Yes, those thyristors do sound nice.

Personally I think the best sounding electric is a Taurus, or in ICE3, though.

  • That train sounds exactly like a class 365 EMU when it just starts to pull away before the current frequency starts to "step" up when moving.

  • is that a BR101?

  • BR 185 DB German Railways, Traxx, Bombardier.

  • LOL, too bad us Americans are too greedy to have stuff like that over here!

  • avesome. All locos the electrics of corse they are the powerest between all. and has soun they are a masterpiece same thing on this video. Nice job. fantastic.

  • The wonderful sound is the result of solid state thyristor control of the locomotive's motors. Thyristors are the same things that you find inside a light dimming switch at home.

  • Good Job

  • Thanks!!!!

  • Funny, but it almost sounds like a symphony of violins. Pretty neat! Older American electric locomotives northeasten U.S usually sound like refrigerators. Thanks for sharing :)

  • I think that if you search for 'Plan V optrekken' you'll get some results of our oldest trains (about 40 years) Those more sound like... eh well... like Plan V's!!! (sorry, the sound is undiscribeable)
