Crocodiles in Africa are enormous and own anything that touches the water, but even they flee at the sight of a hippo. (there's a video of that on youtube somewhere)

Crocs are the top of the predatory food chain, yet there's a story I read of a hippo chomping a croc in half. That alone tells how scary hippos are

Hippos are fucking intimidating creatures. I held this passive perception about them until I seen videos of them attack. There's especially one VERY disturbing video here on Youtube where two hippos battle one another over male dominance and the more powerful/aggressive one claws the other with his teeth as though he was eating him alive. And on the back of the lesser dominant hippo is his own blood spewing from having his back scratched from the dominant hippo's teeth. It's stuck in my head.

Hippos are strong animals. My car was destroyed while a rhino hit me near the river where two hippo bulls were fighting. After I jumped on the tree I saw first and and an elephant almost saved my life from these beasts. Later I send some peanuts to africa to the elephant's address as a sign of our friendship.
