Just got this movie. It was beautiful and I enjoyed the animation but was so disappointed in the story and writing. There was so much forced whimsy, the dialogue wasn't convincing, the sentimental bits didn't feel sincere, and The Cat Herder and Moka's motivation make no sense to me.

I think everyone's being too generous with this movie because it's animated. I'd love to support and see more 2d animated movies, but I also wan't something more substantial than just pretty pictures.

So many people including many self proclaimed animators I've met don't know of this movies' existence and it baffles me. It's one of the most beautiful looking 2D animated films made in the past 10 years.

How in heavens name can I get the DVD for this legally in Canada? I really want to support this amazing movie. And I'd rather watch it legally than download it illegally.

Also, the biggest dilemma is whether I can get an english copy that is compatible with DVD players here in Canada. Anyone know of how to help?

This movie is fantastic. The story is cute, animation is incredible, the characters are unique, but colours are brilliant, and the layouts are breathtaking.

It's nice to see a brand new take on the medium, and one so beautifully done.

I loved this movie. I even put it on pause to admire the artwork.

Nearly every scene contains a light/dark contrast! And the colours.

@shanahankai94 I bought the dvd yesterday and it has an english audio track on it so yes. I like the english voices best.

in the spanish track for instance Mr. Moka is dubbed by carlos sobera who is the anchorman of tv show "who want to be a millionnaire".

they pick up famous people when we have a great dubbing school coming mainly from theater..i think studios do that just because generally spanish people are not interested in animation. a pity.

I've seen it in English, and I really enjoyed it! :) The story and dialogue could have been a lot stronger, but the animation, backgrounds, pacing, and originality are all very nicely done. I think it had a Dr. Seuss x Tim Burton feel to the backgrounds, then the plot was more like a strange cross between Monsters Inc. and The Adventures of Little Nemo in Slumberland.

watched it at school. I don't know if they found an american distributor yet. i think right now the only way is to get the english version and watch it on a multi-region dvd player (how I watched it). The story and dialogue is not that great (but since its aimed more towards kids its ok) but its a beautiful movie to watch. The backgrounds are stunning and the animation is wonderful and the characters are very original.

I'm from Germany, and I could get the French or Spanish version, but I don't speak either of them and it doesn't seem to have subtitles. Help would be much appreciated!

it says its an eng version. i got a copy long time ago so i dunno how legit it is or if it has a password but it doesn't seem to be a dead links. Its funny that even though it's a spanish production the whole thing is lipsynced into english.

@whiteliton I ordered the spanish DVD version and can assure you that it features english, spanish and french audio. No subtitles, though but you can understand the voices really well.

@Xerosch Oh really? That's good to know! I won't have a problem understanding th English audio track, but the internet said there was only the Spanish or French version with Spanish and French subtitles, nothing else.

@Xerosch where did you buy the DVD? I'm from Denmark, and the network company who ran this movie, doesn't have the ressources to lead me onto a copy of the DVD. In addition to this quest; I need to find the right type of DVD, european type and whatnot!

I just checked the german and the UK Amazon-website and both offer the DVD. You'll have to pay with a credit card and it will cost you 20 to 30 Euros, but on the other hand there's only an RC2 version of the DVD, so you'll be fine!

This movie was great! The refreshing style wandering somewhere between an anime and a Disney movie worked incredibly well. Even though, I was surprised to see a few (3 or so) choppy bits of animation along the movie, which were mainly caused by moving cycles that made the action look flat. The conclusion- do NOT cycle! In this art form, the traditional works best(: Still, gorgeous movie. Filmax are doing an awesome job!
