When it comes to choosing a vehicle to take into the bush and far from civilization I will chose an old simple work horse over a modern vehicle with all the electrics (ECU's) and sensors that make them efficient and unreliable.
The simpler it is the less there is to go wrong and the easier it is to maintain or repair.
