@Aeglos666 The latin term for 'Unconquerable' is actually Invicta, with the poem name probably grafted from Invicta to Invictus, came across 'Invicta' when I was browsing through latin quotes and phrases
You have to see this movie. I watched it once, a while ago.... trust me, your eyes will not be dry by the end of the movie, you will be laughing through your tears. But each time you just have to wonder how did Nelson Mandela survive with having his spirit broken into a thousand pieces.... this somg says it all ... thats why I love this song
love this song but i cant belive a man who had been locked up for so long when he gets out is prepared to forgive those who put him in the prison he is a true hero
I love how just the words of a poem gave him hope in prison, and I also love how the poem and its meaning were tied into the movie. This song and its melody work perfectly with the message of the movie and of the poem. Very inspiring.
My birth date is 13/5/1987. 13/5 was the score of the 1st test between these 2 great rivals which the All Blacks won back in 1921. Im a passionate AB fan and have been since I watched them for the 1st time in that World Cup final back in 95. I was 8 at the time I recall very little but vividly remember the heart ache I felt when we lost. Its taken me many years later to realise it is an honour for the All Blacks to be apart of a signifficant day in South African history
this song and the movie is absolutely touching, i love this film with a passion. nelson mandela is truly a human being we should all be inspired by for the things he did
Podría estar escuchando esta canción una y otra vez es preciosa! y la película excelente me encantó y la banda sonora en general es muy buena muy trabajada.
This movie is probably the most inspiring movie I've ever seen...whenever I see it, it always makes me want to be more like Mandela, more responsible. This song has the same affect on me and goes very nicely with the film.
this song and the film are perfect...I like the film a lot and this song is very sad...but it explain what you feel if you are in prison for 9000 days...a person that has been in prison for 9000 days has changed the land..and this person hasn't attack the persons who taked him into prison...that a real person...

this song represente of mandela struggle to be a extraordinary person, 9000 days he was form to be most influential man for his country and to the world..
A good movie although anyone that lived in SA over that period or has read A Long Walk To Freedom will tell you that the film was "hollywood-ised" but then I guess it would take more than one film to tell the true story of SA and Mandela
Who are we to judge the life of one person? mandela may have killed people, but he changed the path of his soul, to change the future we have to forget the past.
Love how they make Mandela seem so glorious. How many of you know that he killed 16 people by planting bombs? I'm from South Africa, I even thought that Mandela's role was played incredibly well. So much for non violent protest... and he wonders why he was imprisoned. Karma's a bitch..
@rumpleforske If you bother to go back he admitted to orchastrating those bombings and even though the intention was for no one to get hurt people did. I'm sure its something he regrets, however under the persecution that us whites put them...you can't blame the ANC for feeling violence was the only option. BUT credit to the man for changing for the better, everybody makes mistakes but how you recover from those mistakes is what defines you. He is a legend and somebody worth looking up to!!!
@1985Shauny A legend maybe, but definitely not somebody I'd ever look up to. I do respect him for what we did, and I know everyone makes mistakes, and we learn from them as humans, or we hope we do anyway. There's a lot more to it I guess. The whole communist thing going on down there while that was happening, and the ANC was pretty much a group of terrorists back then, and no I'm not racist, this is just how it was, and he was leading them. He changed for the best though, which is good...
@1985Shauny Yeah, the only thing I don't like is when teachers here in Canada (where I currently live) teach about Mandela being such an almighty man, but they never mention anything about his past, so they don't allow people to form their own oppinions, but I won't complain I guess. That's very interesting and very sad... I hope something changes, but I just don't see that happening any time soon sadly.. 60 murders per day? That's extremely high, never thought it would be that high..
@1985Shauny "1989 - 1994 (Transitional period) - 14000 deaths 92% of these deaths were Black on Black violence not apartheid" The majority of these were from the Inkhata/ANC rivalry in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Johannesburg. The apartheid government tacitly encouraged this rivalry as it served their purposes and it was very much driven by the perverse society that apartheid set up.
@cometin6968 Yeah.. I feel horrible for what the white people did, and I guess they had reason to take up arms. I just think that in an educational situation, all facts should be presented so that the students can make their own minds up, and not be forced to feel a certain way about someone.. but that's schools in Canada for ya..
@Abraxus81 thats exactally how i feel i watched this movie with my family and even my 12 year old sister was touched and moved by it i and her favorite movie is hannah montana so ya l love this movie its soo powerful

I just watched this film, in Canada. Pretty awesome. I loved all the actors, and you can't go wrong with Eastwood directing, everything he touches turns to gold. The music really sets the mood with a hint of culture of those of us who have never been there.
Comments to previous people! I believe you really have Love in you and passion to appreciate this movie, it was so touching, that i think cold people, whether americans or anyone human being, if they don't have a heart then they don;t have a soul!!!! we should all love each other no matter what..
If this film is not doing that well in the US, it is simply because America is a dumb society. I myself suspected the film was too 'foreign' in too many ways for their culture.... Americans are not forgiving ppl; Americans do not play rugby... and Americans in general simply are not complex enough to catch on to this great movie. Some hysterical ignorance is shown in some of the reviews. I am actually surprised the move had as much interest as it has. The soundclip here is awesome though,
If the film isn't doing well in the US there are many facors. The least of which is a "dumb" US society.
I saw this movie last night and it is fantastic. I must admit however, my girl and I went to the theater to see Avatar but it was sold out. Invictus was our second choice. I am very happy that Avatar was sold out. I have spent my Sunday reading about Nelson Mandela, Invictus & the 1995 South African rugby team. I love when a movie inspires me. This is one such movie!
Probably the best Clint Eastwood film, if not the very best film period, that I have seen. It's unfortunate that it isn't doing very well in US theaters. In my opinion it should win Best Picture and Best Director, and Freeman should win Best Actor. Truly an inspirational film about an underrepresented topic in American film lore: apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa.. Thumbs up!
This is so inspirational. And the poem is my all time favourite!

Can break the land but mine is sore

Ricky,
If the film isn't doing well in the US there are many facors.

Thumbs up!

It was unfortunate that the release coincided with Avatar. It should have been released before or after.
