remove the power supply in the ps3 and blue ray drive and there are two screws loosen plaque trohe and check if works or tighten the ps3 if ps3 still does not work
I had the same problem with 3 ps3's.They all had Green fuzzy lines so I opened it up,I knew it was the GPU so I thought the hotness and coldness would of loosen the GPU from the main board.I ended up putting pressure where the GPU was located ! it got rid of green lines. So I grabbed a sponge,Wrapped nails around the sponge and two beer bottle caps on top of sponge, placed it where the GPU was located, put the case back on, Tightened the screws and now all 3 ps3's work.Cost me $0
is it the tv or the ps3? i have an old late-mid ninteys; possibley 2000,tv and it works great, but my ps3 got the yellow lines. is it my tv or console???
i have 2 ps3s. the slim is fine, but the fat ps3 gets the same problem. + im using the same cable and same tv so its not the cable. my problem was the heat sink. i got my ps3 fixed from ylod. when i opend it there was no thermal paste on the heat sinks : | that is why
i took my PS3 apart cleaned it out (damn it was dusty) then i applied slight pressure to the GPU now my PS3 works for awhile but it still does it after like an hour or so... at least its not right on start up and @Substance0001 i got 3 HDMIs in which none worked my main cord which is an 80$ sony gold pin HDMI works for all my TV and Cable boxes its not the cords its the dust or GPU u must have a different problem then this
@Substance0001 i put in scart cable instead of hdmi cause i thought it could be hdmi out that was damaged or something but even with scart cable i get those lines and my system freezes. my guess is that the vid card might be broken.
Pretty sure it's a GPU problem. I tried a new HDMI cable on mine, giving the same result. I then tried standard composite cables and it crashed again, but showed instead coloured spots on the screen.
Once one of these goes, all of them go within time. It's not your Blu-ray, it's not your HDMI cables or your TV, it's not your HDD, it's the PS3. I had the same problem, it was my GPU. I took it to a shop and they repaired for about $40 in under an hour. $150 to Sony just ins't worth it, find a console repair shop, and let them take a look at it. Hope this helps.
this guy is right listen to him like i said i applied pressure to my GPU (which re-connects it to the Motherboard) cleaned the dust out which will cause issues with the heatsink (the fan and the copper tubes in laymen terms) and now my PS3 works but for a limited time best thing to do is a reball or reflow i havent had time nor the equipment to do either
i was playing mw2 when i pressed the ps to view a message, i then saw some green lines not as often as yours but they are happening all the time btw this has only started to happen today. could it be my hdmi cable or output?
no its the beginning of whats happening to ours yours will do it too have it cleaned and get an external fan before ur GPU pops off u have time to save it unless my response is too late
My first PS3 died on me so I bought a new one a few weeks later and started freaking out when I started getting a bunch of green lines going across the tv! It turned out that my hdmi cable had gone bad. What a big releif I was about to turn into a sony hater lol
my PS3 has a bigger issue then a few green lines mine freezes with some nintendo graphics looking green shit all over the place a rather "old school game oh no i got dust in my cartrigde look to it" ive tried changing HDMI cables, even tried my original AV cords, ive done a system restart a quick format and attempting a full format right now since it takes 4 hrs ill be checking it again at 6;30 hopefully thats works but from reading around the net it seems like it may be my GPU

Everyone listen.
It's either your GPU (Graphics card)
Motherboard
or your Heat Sink
