This gives me the chills. Sadly I do not speak Arabic (although I'd like to), but the gorgeousness and power of this call to prayer speaks directly to the soul..!
I just wondered why the audio quality of the Adhan is always so poor on many websites. Why is it not considered important to provide clear recordings in decent quality also? Versions could be offered with and without reverb/echo (very easy to do!).
Nowhere on the internet are there any very clear files. There may be some to buy, but I don't believe that should be allowed.
Because adhans are meant to be heard without technology interference. no microphones, no speakers, just the voice, but we can't have that on youtube :P
You're not searching hard enough, there is plenty. I don't know them on the top of my head, and im using my blackberry. Message me and i can give you links when i have the time.
Considering the dominance of Arabic language in Islam, one can't help but wonder if the religion isn't really more nationalistic than spiritual. Why not record the Adhan in English or French or Chinese? It's a real turn-off. I'm not an Arab, and I wouldn't want to have to become one just to join the religion.
Brother, you don't need to be Arab to be Muslim. The reason why Arabic has dominance is because God chose Arabic for the final revelation. Also, clasical Arabic is a VERY eloquont language and our beloved prophet Muhammad [peae be upon him] spoke that language, so out of the love of the prophet we use the let Arabic dominate Islam. However, the main thing is the oneness of Allah, this is more important than anything in Islam.
If the truth of the Koran is to be shared with all the people of the world, might it not be better if the nationalistic tendency of a language were not given so much prominence?
Arabic is exotic haha true but its given so much importance because translations really just arent... complete. in arabic there arent just synonyms but like the "synonyms" mean completely different things... like different actions associated with it... you feel me?! please check out Nouman Ali Khan!! He is really awesome at explaining it!! i hope i kind of helped a little?!! sorry if i couldntt!! :)
So something is true in one language and false in another? This is the essential problem of my question. If something is true it can be explained in any language with more or less words. It doesn't matter if the sky is called "blue," "cerulean," or "azure." No words change the color of the sky and everyone can see what it is. This isn't true for God?
no its not b/c it cannot be translated word for word
and this can lead to total corruption....for EX. if the quran is translated into english its not the quran because its not the same word for word.
If the quran isnt used as the control this is where serious change occurs b/c after it was translated into english they use the english translation to translate it into another language then that language to another
after time when you compare the original copy to the others they arent the same
yeahh!! whooppss!! i mean like the translations aren't as beautiful or in depth! you can read a translation and get a basic grasp and understand the truth sure! but you have to find tafsirs to get a full analysis. Islam is not the religion for Arabs like sadly only maybe 10-20% of Arabs are Muslims!
the Qur'an can definately be taught in English-- it is everyday! It just takes more english words to explain :P
I'm sure Arabic is a beautiful language, but if there is a truth to the Koran, then the truth is something that transcends the limitations of language and can be conveyed everywhere in any tongue. Otherwise it isn't truth but something that is peculiar to the language.
i agree that truth transcends the limits of language-- but to believe that truth, you must have sincerity and faith. the truth of the Qur'an is conveyed everywhere-- all over the world! because Islam has no boundaries on race or language. my argument tho is that Islam is not the religion of Arabs. Arabic is important but far from the main aspect!! :)
id love to speak in depth about it but i dont think youtube comments is an appropriate place to speak! :)
Then perhaps you'd see that from a non-Muslim perspective, the heavy emphasis on Arabic language and culture can be an impediment to proselytization. Perhaps more people would find Islam if it was made more universal by being true in every tongue & not mainly in Arabic.
I think more Westerners would convert to Islam if the words of the religion made sense to them in their own language and that they didn't have to learn a heap of new customs.
After all, one god is simpler than a triune deity.
One God is indeed much truer than any other deity. I see your point-I believe more westerners would convert to Islam if the religion-- the way of life itself was presented in the manner it deserves. Arabic emphasis is present because we Muslims believe the Qur'an, which is written in Arabic, is the literal word of Allah. However, the Qur'an is universal and true in every tounge! I've been attending classes in strictly english b/c i dont understand Arabic and these classes are in fact teaching me
Any project to rob Islam of its Arab authority is dangerous, so be careful. There are powerful cultural interests to prevent that. Do you think it's a coincidence that OBL is an Arab and not Filipino or Pakistani?
the true message of my lord. Translation of the Qur'an is an atttempt of...interpretting the Qur'an which is completely alright and fine and dandy! But Arabic is important because the Qur'an was sent down in Arabic. Islam cannot be an Arab's religion. After the call to prayer is done by the muezzin, the men in the mosque stand up next to each other. And if woman are attending in the mosque as well, they do the same in their own room. So they pray together. If you are at home. You pray on your own. But in Islam its men are supposed to go to the mosque if they got the chance.
Men are supposed to go to the mosque regardless if they have a chance or not. The Prophet (PBUH) said in a hadeeth that if he could appoint someone else to conduct the prayer he would go set fire to the houses of men that dont attend the mosque without a valid excuse (sickness, dangerous animal blocking the path, etc.).
Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is I was about to order for collecting fire-wood (fuel) and then order Someone to pronounce the Adhan for the prayer and then order someone to lead the prayer then I would go from behind and burn the houses of men who did not present themselves for the prayer... continued.
My brother in Islam you speak with such aggression to the unknowing. "BitteSpitte" speaks what is true to Islam. There are times when people may not reach a mosque, and if that is so he/she may pray wherever they maybe and will have Allah's grace on them. Allah is oft forgiving and most merciful. Speak passionately about our beautiful sacred religion, with softness in your heart.
The adhan is recited when the time for a certain prayer begins. The Iqaamat, is the shorter version of the adhan and is recited just before prayer. Between the adhan en the iqaamat is some time depending on the prayer, mostly 10/20 minutes. This is to provide people time to come to the mosque and to perform ablution.

Hello and Salam(peace)He said: Allah is great,Allah is great,I bear witness that there is no god except the One God (Allah).(said two times) I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. (said two times) Hurry to the prayer (Rise up for prayer) (said two times) Hurry to success (Rise up for Salvation) (said two times) Allah is Great [said two times] There is no god except the One God (Allah) That is the translation... Salamualaikum(peace with you)
Salam Alaikum. It is not a muejeza. It is amazing indeed, but we cannot call it a muejeza. Not everything that amazes us is a muejeza.
Making such statements leads us Muslims to being mocked. I have seen people claiming photoshop images are muejeza too, and the enemies of Islam create websites making fun of this. When people who are finding about Islam find such websites showing how ridiculous the claims are, they conclude that Muslims use lies to convince people.
Allâh'ım! Ey bu dâvetin ve kılınmak üzere bulunan namazın Rabbi. Peygamberimiz Hazreti Muhammed'e (s.a.v.) vesîleyi ve fazileti ver. Onu kendisine va'd buyurmuş olduğun "Makâm-ı Mahmûd"a eriştir. Şüphe yok ki Sen va'dinden dönmezsin."
Let's not criticise. He is performing for an audience here, not calling adhan during actual prayer time. Not only that, perhaps holding hands near to ears is not obligatory but just reccommended? I mean it's really for amplification and proclamation purposes isn't it. I don't know, but considering that he is the Muezzin of the holiest mosque in the world (al-Haram in Mecca), I am sure he knows the rules and regulations.

I agree with the comment below. I am not a follower of Islam myself, but the Adhan may be the piece of music that makes me feel closest to god. It has something about it that makes me feel safe, and more comfortable in life.
hello, I am a christian from the philippines. I find your muslim call for prayer very beutiful and peaceful.. "peace be with you to our muslim brothers"
alaikom salam(peace be with you too). maashala. thank you. i understand ur feeling i am once a christian before but i found islam as a very peaceful and simple religion so i reverted back to islam.
The muslim kuran told us about the universe expansion, the fact that the moon gets closer to earth, the fact that universe will contract and destroy after this expansion, the different fingerprints, the barrier between seas, the PREDICTING of the victory of the room after their defeat in the past , the role of mountains to hold the earth , THE BLACK HEAVENLY BODIES(KHONNAS GWAR KONNAS IN KURAAN) , THE TRUTH THAT THERS A PAIR OF EVERYTHING AND THAT EVERT LIVINGTHING FROM WATER
yes please do disable comments, there seem to be thousands of hindus and jews just waiting to say the most vile things, never mind the evangelicals, who seem to promise you heaven for the tiniest effort ever!!!!

Why do people assume God is so deadly serious and angry about everything?

As-Salamu Alaykum
Before You Quote any Hadith from the prophet make sure you have it in full and the evidence of where you got it from.

I agree with the comment below. I am not a follower of Islam myself, but the Adhan may be the piece of music that makes me feel closest to god. It has something about it that makes me feel safe, and more comfortable in life.

Do you know what the meaning of the adhan is? If you don't here is the translation:
God Is Most Great x 4
I testify there is no diety worthy of worship except ALLAH (God) x 2
I testify Muhammad is the Messenger of ALLAH x 2
Come to prayer (rememberance of Allah) x 2
Come to good deeds (salvation) x 2
God is Most Great x 2
I testify there is no diety worthy of worship except ALLAH.
Hope you find it useful.

Well the adhan isnt really a piece of music, its just a call to prayer which is usually done in a pleasing and melodious style, as heard in the vid.

The muslim kuran told us about the universe expansion, the fact that the moon gets closer to earth, the fact that universe will contract and destroy after this expansion, the different fingerprints, the barrier between seas, the PREDICTING of the victory of the room after their defeat in the past , the role of mountains to hold the earth , THE BLACK HEAVENLY BODIES(KHONNAS GWAR KONNAS IN KURAAN) , THE TRUTH THAT THERS A PAIR OF EVERYTHING AND THAT EVERT LIVINGTHING FROM WATER

can you all please disable 'adding comments' when uploading adhan or any other religious videos, there are some very offensive comments
haha2544 4 years ago
everyone should be able to voice their opinions. Anything innapopriate can and should be deleted.
novan01 4 years ago
Lol that makes sense. First, you say that everybody should be ale to voice their opinions, then you say things that aren't nice should be deleted. Even the (for the lack of a better term) not nice comments should be posted
Knucklehed4 4 years ago
theres a difference between taking offense to something from being inappropriate than to disagree with something through valid input.
