I used to live under the arival path to Kelly AFB, they had lots of C-5 goin in there. I never thought it was so loud.

in the mid 70s i was 7 years old i watched one of these screaming enormous planes Air Lift my uncle with brain damage from a motorcycle accident out of Iran to somewhere that knew how to take care of him, like, home USA. since then the sound has meant shear power and awesomeness to me, i bet its intimidating to the enemy to.

I heard the engines accelerate faster on the run way after it landed. Dont they do that incase they dont have enough space to land, incase they need to pull up? Badcially like the jets on aircraft carriers

After landing the reversers are armed and engine power increased to force more jet blast to the opposite direction, this helps in the braking action in the runway. Sorry if this is confused, english is not my natural language.

Remember that fixed wing aircraft on a aircraft carrier have a arresting wire that holds the aircraft even at full throttle. This does not apply to airstrips.

when the thrust reversers are deployed the engines spool up in order to force thrust forward. there are blocker doors that deploy and the fan thrust is forced forward
