  • Ebit cubes stink horrible like raw fish ...they will stink up your whole pack if they are not properly sealed

  • nice comparison. THANKS.

  • Your comparing apples to oranges, Esbit is a stove fuel, WetFire is a tender. Each does what is meant to do better than a job that it is not meant to do. Wet fire is a better tender to start a fire... Esbit is a better fuel for stove... Yes, you can do both with either... but the results are different. you would not pound a 16 penny nail with a finishing hammer or use a 3 pound hammer to drive your finish nails, again both would work but the results are going to be different

  • Wetfire will take a spark, esbit will not!

  • I haven't had any luck with wetfire. I've stuck the damn wetfire tabs in a fire and it didn't light. I go with Esbit.

  • Its called wetfire for a reason try it again in the pouring rain...or even the shower..you might get different results...:-)

  • GREAT VIDEO.. I HAVE TRIED BOTH WHILE BACKPACKING ON THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL... WETFIRE DOESN'T JUST LAST LESS...IT ISN'T AS HOT AS AN ESBIT. WET FIRE IS A LITTLE LIGHTER, YES, BUT I TRUST ESBIT CUBES MORE...

ALTHOUGH.. IF I WAS IN AN EMERGENCY AND I HAD TO START A FIRE IN THE RAIN... WETFIRE WOULD WORK BETTER..

IN MY CASE I JUST BOIL WATER.

    THANKS BUD.. GREAT, SIMPLE VIDEO.

  • Hi Falcon, its an "Arlec" brand. Doesn't look like they make it anymore as the manufacturers website does not list it. Thanks for asking

  • markmclauchlin.....what brand of thermometer is that in the video?

  • what is esbit?

  • @gnomehater63 It's a brand witch makes compact stoves and cookwear and fuel for there stoves.

  • i had this thought last night, why even have the wetfires...when esbits are cheaper and burn way longer....if you have a wetfire on ya then im sure you can get out of the rain at least

  • wetfire---campfire

    Esbit--- cooking

I like how the esbit makes less smoke.

  • Hi, while you are out hiking definately not, they are designed for that purpose. If you are travelling by air I would suspect they are banned, but best to check with the airline prior.

    Cheers

  • will this combust in my pack?

  • @moozadell No esbit will not ignite with any friction or spark but with wetfire it lights very easy but esbit is in a hard seethrough plastic case thing and wetfire is in a wrapper.

  • @HDCYTFAN Ya i know that you do that with a wetfire i meant with out the shavings.

  • @HDCYTFAN Sorry did'ent mean to send that comment to you;/

  • @HDCYTFAN ESBIT CUBES CAN DEFINITELY BE IGNITED WITH A SPARK!! FIELD TESTED! JUST SHAVE A BIT OF IT JUST AS YOU WOULD DO WITH A WETFIRE. PLUS... A BOX OF 12 ESBITS IS ABOUT 6 BUCKS.. AND A BOX OF 10 WETFIRE CUBES COSTS AROUND $9.

  • @bcm4066 I know that Im not stupid, that's how alot of people lite esbit. I was talking about in cube form.
