Cheetahs are cats built for speed not power, they will rarely risk a fight with anything. Research has shown they much prefer to avoid, and are much less likely to make a kill after hearing lions. In regards to lions catching cheetahs, it does happen, usually the cheetah gets cornered. Theres a video somewhere on here i believe.(Reference from Behavioural Ecology Journal)

A lion can kill a cheetah if the cheetah is impaired, or doesn't see it coming, or too old, or too young. A lion has NO chance in Hell of catching an alert cheetah in the open. None. That's what this situation was.

She can run over 50% faster than he can. That's what Cheetahs sell out for, speed. They give up a lot to have it, but are second to none in that area.

End result, lion didn't even try.
