Really? Come on guys. Star Trek influenced everything. Got a problem? Better throw that cell phone away because that was totally 'ripped off' from Star Trek.
@themanyouwanttobe lol no, Star Trek didn't influence nearly as much as you would like to think, the Cell Phone is only similar to the communicator on the most superficial levels.
As SFDebris said in his review of "Q Who" "The average highschool girl has more advanced technology than the average away team, since she'd send him a dozen snapshots in 30 seconds while simultaneously texting to 3 friends about how this is the worst mall ever, Star Trek invented the cell phone my achin' ass."
there's a scene in iron man thats a near perfect copy of the scene in star wars where han chases after the stormtroopers yelling, and then runs into a big group and runs away, it's with that guy that helps tony make the first suit and to buy him time shoots wildly while chasing the guards down hallways and runs into a big group of guards
THe same exact thing is done by Lucas/spielberg/ford in Temple of Doom. When Indiana takes a sword from a guard and chases him down, but then runs into a big group of armed guards.
I guess, if it works once, it will work over and over... and over again.
@MrKinkypanther Ummm, actually Star Trek came before Star Wars by over a decade. George Lucas acknowledges the impact Gene Roddenberry had on the whole genre. Many of the action sequences and special effects that are now considered 'formulaic' started with Trek. Now, that being said, the newer Treks may have taken after Wars, but Wars certainly took after older Trek. Most science fiction movies and shows have glaring similarities like the ones shown above.
@wifeofbath101 I realize this comment is 3 mo old. But f**k it. Star Wars was inluenced by old serials like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and such. I never heard mention once that it was influenced by Star Trek. In fact, Star Trek itself was always compared to the old westerns. You got a quote to back up what you claim?
@DaVeO52 I forget the name of the documentary. But it focuses on Gene Roddenberry's son sort retracing his father's legacy. At one point there is an interview with George Lucas. Gene Roddenberry defined a lot of what we consider modern sci-fi in television and movies. Certainly Star Wars is influenced by many different things things as was Star Trek. I direct you to Perion's comment. I was simply pointing out that Star Trek did not "rip off" Star Wars, as someone implied.
@wifeofbath101 Oh yeah in fact Star Trek went the exact opposite direction, where as star wars was an action adventure film, kinda like indiana jones in space the first star trek movie was almost a complete bare bones sci fi. And I can't think of almost anything from the star trek series that resembles much of anything star wars, aside from that it seem to get worse as it went on ;(
It it was just a hall battle, yes it would be dumb to compare it to Star Wars. In that case every movie thats ever had a fight scene is copying each other. But in this case, even the choreography was exactly the same, and jumping into the hall escape door. HA! Yup, I totally see the copying here even if they didn't mean to.
The sound effect when Riker jumps down the tube has been added. Didn't happen in the film. Nemesis is a great film, the best after Wrath of Khan. I will always prefer Trek to Wars.
well at least it's not as bad as Star Trek V using the TIE Fighter weapon sound when the Bird of Prey opens fire on the resident energy-being-posing-as-a-deity that are so common in Trek, oh and how they used a modified Yosemite Sam soundbite for said being when it was chasing Kirk.
Nemesis and Final Frontier, which one was worse I wonder...
@Perion I wondered that for a long time, I settled on nemesis being worse cause at least we had the friendly stellar banter between spock, kirk and mccoy in V

funny part is the Stormtroopers weren't even trying to kill Luke, Han and Chewie (they were under orders to let them escape so they could track them back to their base) and they got their blaster bolts closer!
but yeah, the whole chute dive and everything is great.

Call me a weirdo, but I'm a Trekkie who actually really liked Nemesis. However, this scene does kinda bother me.

Everybody influences other people, and those influences often go back and forth, from just between two friends to between entire national cultures.

@TheSunmanho You don't get the point when Star Trek first started off it was nothing like this

@bijankarim Star wars still wouldn't have existed without Star Trek. Though I still consider SW to be the much superior franchise.

@humongousaldo It had no cohesiveness. Everybody acted out of character as usual and the plot didn't make any sense.
