Ho-oh's tail is far too unique to be confused with Fearow's. plus, Fearow has a long "pointy" beak while Ho-oh's beak is not that long or "pointy" for that matter. Tho, they are alike, yes, but i just can't think of getting confused with the both of them.

This is by far my favorite episode of the entire series, no doubt. It makes me cry how much I love it, and the scene where Pikachu saves Ash from the Spearow makes me cry so much.

That said, I think that Ho-Oh flying overhead was just to symbolize that the world of Pokemon goes past Kanto and just because you've seen all the Kanto Pokes doesn't mean you've seen them all. They just decided to make it into something later on.

@darkhunterGPX I agree, Ho-oh never had a movie like the other legendaries and remains the most mysterious out of all of them. But I think they're gonna save Ho-oh for last because there is some obvious but mysterious connection it has to Ash, therefore it's probably the most important legendary. Also, unlike the other legendaries Ho-oh never sticks to one region and is always traveling around the world, much like how Ash is always making new adventures. So it could symbolize something.

to be honest my theory is that they were planning on having it as a legendary pokemon for kanto but then scrapped it half way through and saved it for Johto when they already have 3 legendary birds anyway, especially when they saw how popular the pokemon brand was getting they could expand.

And 2 .5 yrs prior its release ? No way man. The creators simply new that there was going to be a new series at some point. Maybe they'd already had it all planned out but the information was not available to general public at that time.

If Ho-Oh has shown up in every region then thats a sign that he will make his powers known! I know pokemon won't end without giving Ho-Oh a movie, Nintendo is just waiting for the right time. Ho-oh appeared on the very first episode, theres a connection with ash & ho-oh. We as fans have to figure it out
