What is Gaelic ?. its a game invented by extreme right wing Irish Catholic Nationalist to counter the huge intrest Irish Catholic youth had in Football and Rugby. The GAA is the govering body , which is made up of a loose gruping of second hand car salemen, fradusters, con men , Catholic priests , property developers and totally corrupt bankers and lawers. The main aim of the GAA is to stop Catholic youth playing or getting in anyway involed with the global games of Football and Rugby.
@emlb95 I went to a Irish Catholic school , and like most kids only wanted to play Football , but our school was like the vast majority of Catholic schools , in that the fucking GAA UGLY GAMES of BOGBALL. were drummed into us , and we had no say in the matter. BOGBALL is a made up game in that its got elements of jiust about every sport in it, from Basketball, Rugby, Aussie Rules and not forgetting the old violence that is part and parcel of every game played.
@houlhersteady Catholic school? Ireland is a Catholic country and all schools are Catholic but you already knew that coz you said you are Irish. You aren't Irish so please leave your comments on your own national sports.
@emlb95 I probaly more Irish than you. All schools in Ireland are Catholic,?. that a compleate load of tosh and lies. In the North of ireland there are approx 200 non Catholic schools, alone , not counting the one in the south. Wise up you idiot , you have not a clue who or what runs the schools in Ireland. National sport , according to who ?. the GAA and the Catholic Church. In America Baseball is a National sport but it not drummed into every American child at school.
@houlhersteady Tosh? What does tosh even mean. Now the GAA and its games are our national sports as they were first played in Ireland. Hurling can be seen in ancient Irish legends of Setanta or Cuculain and na Fiana and football is derived from Caid seen in the 1600's. But you know that coz you are Irish. You ain't fooling anyone, you are not Irish. Maybe you think you are but you aren't. To be Irish you must at least live in Ireland.
@emlb95 You have lived this long and never heard of the term "tosh " untill now?. So you have made up a new defination for being Irish, " YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN Ireland TO BE IRISH" . did everyone get that, @emlb95 has set new rules , and all the milons of Irish liveing and working abroad , your no longer Irish, lol. What rock did you crawl out from under?. Stand up straight and stop dragging your knuckles on the ground .lol.
@houlhersteady Lad let it go. If you are Irish you are from Dublin, like myself, and you are giving Dubs a bad name, now please let it go. You don't like your own sports. It is OK. You must have been a poor footballer or hurler, small, weak or just not mentally quick enough to play. It is all right. You can't help that. It must not be in your blood. It is in mine and you and I must learn to be different. You can't get it, it is not a professional game. It isn't for money or fame. It is for honor
@emlb95 . Who cares when Hurling aka STICKFIGHTING ,was first played in Ireland , it a dying game that even many in the GAA would like to diappear. As for BOGBALL , it has only been in existence for little more than a century. All over Europe prior to Football, Rugby , or Bogball having rules , people played a crude game where a object was kicked around by gangs of youth in waste ground etc , The ball or object in the early days was a ball of twine, rags etc, and in the latter p1
p2. part of the 18 century a pig or goat bladder was used. In some parts of Ireland the name given to this crude ruleless game was caid, in other parts of Europe they have their own term to decribe the same pastime or unruly game. The English were the first to set rules to the game , and with some clear rules the game quickly became very popular. The main rule was that the ball or object was not allowed to be played with the hands , hence the term Footbal was given to the p2.
@houlhersteady p3. hence the term Football was born. With rules the game spread like wildfire throught England and Europe , and later to every country on the planet. In fact their are more countrys represented in FIFA than in the UN. In Ireland the Briish were in control , and they played Cricket, Football, Rugby , Golf, and Hockey. The new game with rules quickly spread amongst the native Irish as it was easy to play and had rules. The extreme Irish Nationalist seen this as p3.
@houlhersteady as threat to that Irish Youth were taking a intrest in British pasttimes , and were would this end. They quickly formed the GAA and set about setting rules and regulations to caid that were diffrent to Football to draw Irish Youth away from being swamped with what they viewed was a forign game and culture. The rest is history. Bogball today is still not the finished article , and never a year passes without new rules and regulations being interduced. Most of thse p4.
@houlhersteady p5. Most of the new rules are straight out of other codes rules or regulations. The GAA for over a century demonised so called forign or Garrision games as not fit for good Irish Catholic youth to play. They even had rules and regulations foridding GAA members from , watching , playing or belonging to a Football or Rugby club. Althought they demonsied the so called forign games , it never stopped them from stealing rules and regulations in a desprateeffort to make p5
p6.in a desprate effort to make BOGBALL more attractive to Irish Catholic youth and try and stop the flow of Irish Catholic youth to Football and Rugby. A small sample of rules that were stolen from the dreaded forign games in the recent past of Football and Rugby are, RED AND YELLOW card system. PEALANTY KICK. SUBS..... EXTRA TIME IN EVENT OF DRAWN GAME...... NUMBERING JERSEYS,..... SPONSORS LOGO ON SHIRTS....... The list is endless what the GAA and BOGBALL has copied
@houlhersteady quit the bullshit ive watched a few gaa videos in the last 10 mins nd every video so far u hav ur bullshitted points with sectarian views.if you have nothing good to say about the sport get off the video.you obviously have nothing better to be doing with your time, and since when has there every been a rule that gaa members cant join rugby or gaa clubs thats crap i know of many gaa players that play both soccer and gaa so stop talking crap and get a life.
@XxRoRo09xX You are just another dumb Bogball GAA idiot . The GAA only a few decades ago had a rule which banned , GAA members from playing, watching , belonging to a Football club, or Rugby Club. They also to this day forbid so called forign games being played on GAA Ground , (exception croke park). They only recently allowed member of the security forces to join a GAA club. Read the history of the GAA before you comment you ginger haired bogger.
@bones111987 well in fairness were never going to agree about AFL and GAA we were both brought up watchin the respective sports! but yeah I agree watchin a full soccer match can be very painful and mildly interesting at best!
@TheSportsfan102 agreed, but gaelic fans were over in the afl video comments ttaking the piss outa our game, so i thought i would return the favour, both sports r great i love AFL u love gaelic look forward to seeing australia vs ireland in october
Why is there no tackle in Gaelic football?- typical GAA boggers- three centuries, and still messing with the rules without solving the main problem with the game.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
what a retarded mish-mash of football/rugby/basketball ... how about you join the 21st century and play real football (soccer) like everybody else ... if Ireland wasted less times on these nonsense "gaelic" sports they might actually not suck so bad at real football ... you know, john oshea aside ... wankers
fuck you, Ireland should have qualified for the world cup if Italy didn't equalize. You do realize it is a country of 4 million people, and their soccer team is ranked 35th in the world. That is pretty impressive you dumb ass. Gaelic Football is older than soccer, so w/o it, we wouldnt even have soccer.
i dont get some things.. is a goal = point (over the bar between the poles)??? and each one is worth 3?? if someone clarifies that to me i would be really happy
gaelic football is esimated to be three and a half thousand years old.the game was played by the celts in ireland along with hurling and features in much of irish folklore.during the 800 year english occupation of ireland all gaelic games were banned, for this reason the game was not codified officialy untill the begining of the 20th century when ireland gained its independance.the games are so similar that it is logical to assume that "marn grook" and football were merged in austrailia
Merged?.. mate don't be a wanker. While it's logical that the games are similar in some aspects, there is no evidence of fact that Marngrook merged with Gaelic, or that Gaelic was influenced by Aussie Rules.
TBH, some aspects of Aussie Rules were adopted by Gaelic Football, such as the extra point posts in Gaelic Football, which were introduced AFTER Aussie Rules was codified (Aussie Rules had point posts back then) and then Gaelic took them away in 1914. AFL is older & professional > Gaelic.
@Jasexxxxx well actually, the AFL may be older than the GAA but Gaelic football can be dated back to at least the early 1300's and Hurling being at least 2000 years old. I think you'll find this outdates the 1841 records of Aussie rules by a small bit! Don't talk unless you know what you're saying!
I'm from Australia. Aussie Rules decended from the Marn Grook ABORIGINAL game, meaning it's origins date back to thousands of years ago. also, aussie rules was CODIFIED (meaning proper competion/organized) in 1858. Older than any other sport in the world, including gaelic football.
But i like gaelic football alot and i hope the International Rules Series is a good game at the MCG
If it s such a shit game, why has the AFL adopted it for the international rules game and begged for the irish to come back after the aussies were such wankers with thier heavy tactics?
Im an aussie btw and WRAPPED ireland won tonight. GO THE IRISH and fuck the aussie AFL BABOONS
