@CookingwithSugarTV If there called CAKE pops why would you use donuts? And if your so good at baking why do you use box mixes. Im a 12 year old BOY and I make all my things from scratch.
@MariahPiedad I know it can be tricky when making these pops. Make sure you dip the tip of the stick into the candy melts like I show in the video and then halfway into the pop. That will give you a base that should hold the pop in place once it dries so you can dip the whole pop without it falling off. Good luck.
@ElliePuppet No it's actually so much less sweet than the regular cake pop. If you see my blog on how to make a traditional cake pop they are a mix of frosting and cake and then dipped in the candy melts. It's way sweeter than any doughnut hole.
@ncmuziklavva You think so?? I don't!! The dipping & decorating is the Fun part for me. I make them both ways, often & my favorite part is always the decorating. Thanks for the feedback. :)
Thank you so much for the Crisco tip! I too thought that the candy melts were super thick when I made my first batch of cakepops. I love how the cake pops turned out but I found they were a ton of work (I made Bakerella's chick cakepops) and I've sort of been dreading making them again, but with peer pressure from work and your tips...I might make some more. Thanks for your video!
@nellie272003 Oh I know they take forever to make and that is why I do them this way for big parties. The kids don't care how you make them so they love them either way. My kids and my husband like them better this way because they aren't as sweet as a regular cake pop. Give it a try and keep me posted.
Girl, I just had to leave you a comment. I thought I would make cake pops for Valentine's for my kids. I have 2 teenage boys. I was short on time so I ran to Walmart, bought the donut holes, candy melts. I used chocolate and glazed donut holes. My boys just came home from track practice ate about 6 each and said, "Mom these are waaay better than the ones you usually make., I didn't tell them my secret. Thanks so much for posting this delicious time saver! Happy Valentine's Day!! :) xx
@lakegirl645 Oh you are so sweet to take the time to post to me. I'm glad this worked for you. My kids like them better this way too. Happy Valentines Day.
Love the video, but I find that my candy melts still seem to be to thick after i add the crisco oil :( is it possible that im not letting them melt long enough in the microwave or that i might be melting too long? One last question, u mentioned that u add the crisco while u microwave them is that correct? Thanks for any help :)
@valp227 Hmm. I'm not sure. Try cooking them for a minute or two first with the crisco, then stiring in between and just cook 30 seconds at a time until they are smooth. You can add extra crisco if you need to. Hope this helps. :)

@romero6788 Yes that is a great idea for the baby shower. They usually have a light glaze on them but if you can find them without it they work both ways.
Thank you for making this video. I want to make cake pops for my son's 1st birthday but it seemed like to much to have to do all the steps in all the other videos. I was almost ready to give up on the idea because I knew I wouldn't have the time for all that plus everything else I will need to do, but when I came across this video, I was like, "Wow. @Cyneere I still make the cake pops the regular way from time to time but in a hurry or when I have 100 or more to make I do them this way and everyone still loves them.
@peacebugs7 I know crazy right?? 40 kids is way too many for a party but it turned out great. I would never have 40 boys but girls aren't that bad. :)
hi there, awesome video.. i live in canada, they dont sell candy melts unfortunately and anytime i melt normal chocolate chips in the microwave they get like hard really quick... is there anything you know of i could substitute them for?

@igotthatswaggerr Thanks for the feedback. Most people like them better because they aren't as sweet but it's a personal prefernce. What doughnuts did you use? I think the Chocolate Entenmann's the best I think. They aren't doughy at all because they are a cake doughnut hole.

@CookingwithSugarTV Thank you I am new at this but going to have a go cake in the oven as we speak unfortunately no Dunking Doughnuts here but thinking of getting an electric popcake maker
This is great, I am also baking cupcakes for my daughters 2nd birthday. I am very hands on with all her celebrations and your idea is going to help me with time, plus who doesn't love Dunkin Donuts! Thank you!
@kawaiigurl23 Thanks for the feedback. I actually wear dresses all the time. I live is south Florida so it's most comfortable to be in a dress or skirt. I also like to look nice in my videos. I feel like when I film a video people are getting a chance to come to my house so I think it's only appropriate to look nice and make it entertaining.
@CookingwithSugarTV THANK YOU!!!!!!! I kow doughnut holes from the shop are softer and have a better taste, so I wasn't sure they would be okay for the making of "cake pops".... I'll try to make them tomorrow for the first time..... Thanks for this recipe.
@helenita05 If they give you any trouble because they are too soft put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes before you try adding the sticks and dipping them.
@helenita05 You need to microwave it for about 30 seconds at a time and add some of the Crisco and mix it in between until it softens. It will be fine it just needs to melt more.
@MissPandaaaz I have never tried it but, maybe. I will have to try that soon and see how it works out. I'm guessing the frosting won't dry like the candy but let me know if you do try it.
so how are the dunkin donuts holes? are they light and fluffy? because other people smush cake crumbles into balls to make cake pops and it turns me off sooo much. they look so heavy and thick that im sure it takes out all the fluffiness of the cake..which is part of why cake is so nice! thanks for the dunkin donut holes idea!! :) please anyone let me know how the bread is for those
@Eidolin I like the doughnut holes better because the cake is more like cake and not like play dough but I think it's a personal thing. I also think the regular cake pops can be too sweet. Give it a try I think you will like it.
@MrRyno2012 it's easier to bake from a cake mix then doing it from scratch.

helenita05 2 months ago
@helenita05 Sure Have fun making them. :)

@CookingwithSugarTV THANK YOU!!!!!!! I kow doughnut holes from the shop are softer and have a better taste, so I wasn't sure they would be okay for the making of "cake pops".... I'll try to make them tomorrow for the first time..... Thanks for this recipe.
helenita05 2 months ago
@helenita05 If they give you any trouble because they are too soft put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes before you try adding the sticks and dipping them.
Good luck,

@CookingwithSugarTV No, the candy melts mix is hard and I didnt put in microwave long..... it's hard!!!!!!!!!!!
helenita05 2 months ago
@helenita05 You need to microwave it for about 30 seconds at a time and add some of the Crisco and mix it in between until it softens. It will be fine it just needs to melt more.

COULD WE JUST MELT ICING AND DIP THEM IN THAT?
MissPandaaaz 2 months ago
@MissPandaaaz I have never tried it but, maybe. I will have to try that soon and see how it works out. I'm guessing the frosting won't dry like the candy but let me know if you do try it.

so how are the dunkin donuts holes? are they light and fluffy? because other people smush cake crumbles into balls to make cake pops and it turns me off sooo much. they look so heavy and thick that im sure it takes out all the fluffiness of the cake..which is part of why cake is so nice! thanks for the dunkin donut holes idea!! :) please anyone let me know how the bread is for those
Eidolin 2 months ago
@Eidolin I like the doughnut holes better because the cake is more like cake and not like play dough but I think it's a personal thing. I also think the regular cake pops can be too sweet. Give it a try I think you will like it.
