  • A century of time back 3,000 years ago is fairly good time frame. Will it be perfect and 100% proven?? David did exit but how little or much David did will always be open to many ideas and different opinions.

  • The debate between 9 and 10 century will go on for sometime. How about the water tunnel under Jerusalem. Other artifacts could and will be found. Who's to say that the major 10 century buildings were lost over time. The David kingdom will be proven since in most instances the bible has turned out to be pretty good over time.

  • The Stepped Stone Structure very likely dates between Late Iron I and Late Iron IIa, but there is no unambiguous evidence to link it with the reign of any specific king. The Large Stone Structure has an even more ambiguous date.

  • "'Go to this people and say, "You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving." Acts 28:26

  • I don't know why this documentary made such a huge deal about 9th century and 10th century thing...

It's scientifically and historically impossible to determine which century or period Solomon specifically live. Nobody's taking into account for thousands of years. The period and timeline used are just estimation.

Those monuments and archaeological finds only point finger at those two. No other figure in written history could build those beside David and Solomon. Period

  • one day i am going to marry this girl DR. FRANCESCA STAVRAKOPOULOU

  • The questions DR. FRANCESCA STAVRAKOPOULOU should have asked DORIAN SPIELMAN, CITY OF DAVID PARK, are WHERE is the WRITTEN EVIDENCE that those walls and fortress that he prouldly talks about as being DAVIDIC. We need HEBREW WRITING on the COLUMNS or WALLS or on BROKEN POTTERY or on DUSTY TATTERED SCROLLS ! BUT THERE IS NOTHING ! One must not forget that JERUSALEM GOES BACK BEFORE RECORDED HISTORY !

  • @NECHOII it really comes down to what a person prefers to believe. since no one has direct evidence because no one is old enough we can only go by what we like to think. this leaves us in a horrible state of darkness and uncertainty about our role and place in existence

  • C&A are still going? I thought they went out of business!

  • so hot....&^^^^

  • What a sexy chick, this Francesca))

  • cities get moved and destroyed and rebuilt and that is more true in that area. So, who is to say that ancient Jerusalem was actually where it is now. David's original capital was at Hebron not Jerusalem.

  • @ TALLPOE : That tomb found between the Nile River and the lake turned out to be ROMAN.

  • @jackmarsilva

Actually, there's an even *better* documentary that has this very same title, "The Bible's Buried Secrets," only it's made by PBS NOVA, which thoroughly disproves the story of Moses and the Exodus quite well, actually! Lol! Only it's a FAR better doc than this...this BBC one's purpose seems to be to disprove the Bible. The PBS one's purpose is to tell the TRUE origins of both the Jewish people and the Jewish faith as well as it's holy book. It just so happens to disprove the bibl

  • @macgeek2004 Having seen both documentaries, I agree with your interpretation!!

  • @macgeek2004 any link?

  • @macgeek2004 I generally prefer BBC documentary to US ones which I find simplistic, repetitive and dumbed down in the extreme. However, on your recommendation I will give it a fair go. Thanks a lot. Always on the look out for good quality science, history documentaries.

  • @William00048 Perhaps you may enjoy Adam Curtis's works

  • @macgeek2004 The Bible's Buried Secrets (both 2008 and 2011 edition) is just as bad as this documentary, especially for the United Monarchy. In both cases, the six-chambered gates at Hazor, Megiddo and Gezer (which are more likely evidence that the account in Kings was based on 8th, rather than 10th or 9th century realities) are cited to support the as-of-now highly unlikely claim the United Monarchy existed.

  • Joseph and Pharoh, joint effort. No disputes, Isreal is the true home of Judaism and Islam, with the rest of the mediteranean. Just wish it wasn't like an episode from meerkat manor all of the time, the place is too old, you will never find anything in that heat as everything decays too quickly anyway through lack of moisture.

  • They found a tomb near the canal that was built between the nile and the great lake. The tomb was for an important person, only it had been defaced, but the painted hair of red was still very clear and untouched by the sun. Historians believe it was the tomb of Joseph.

  • Actually yes,the Bible has the names and lineages all written down, something like 100 or so names, you want to tell me,if those people didn't exist. The Scribes then just made them up and wrote them down on parchment scrolls and just wanted to spend however long it took,to write them down because, they did'nt have anthing better to do?So all those names from Noah, to David,to Jesus,to the apostle John were all lies,if this is so,then we have a problem!!You just erased half of Jewish history!!

  • @jackmarsilva there is no jewish history the true jews have always been arabs tehy were born in Iraq-babylon

  • Never before heard the saying 'You can't stab your enemies in the back." It must be Jewish.

  • Archaeology proved King Arthur's legend was very loosely based on a tribal leader.

Genuine archaeology proves the Bible is a mixture of facts and fiction. It is NOT a perfect work created directly or indirectly by God.

  • Gilgamesh's story: an elaborate story that was probably copied by the Torah's authors, and Gilgamesh's story is partially proven by archaeology and partially disproven by archaeology.

Elaborate stories, elaborate lies, fancy superstitions does NOT equal 100% fact.

  • @jackmarsilva - "Get a beautiful muslim woman to coerce the viewer of course!!"

Episode 3 at around the 3 minute mark, re: Samaria...

"My love of the ancient Israelites and Judah heights really comes alive here. THIS IS WHERE MY KINGS WERE."

So the "beautiful Muslim woman" challenging the biblical myth is evidently... Jewish.

  • @Bernadotte01

    She's actually an atheist ^_^

  • @jackmarsilva Why does she not visit David's Tomb? Becoz maybe it was not named David's tomb until the 1100's. Maybe becoz no tests have been done to date it to the time of David. AND MAYBE BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS IF THERE R EVEN REMAINS INT THERE MUCH LESS KING DAVIDS! And maybe becoz the Tomb of David offers as much proof as the Bible does for his existance. Little to none.

  • Funny how she did'nt even go to "King Davids Tomb" in Jerusalem!!...lol...and at the end of the documentary she does'nt even go through King Davids' Geneology so to prove that in fact he was born!!I seems like she's muslim trying to disprove the Jewish occupation of the land.As they always do...Well,I would like to see her disprove Moses and his people's entrance into the land of CANAAN(now Jerusalem)...get around that one.Kind David was not a myth because Jesus was born from Davids Geneology.

  • @jackmarsilva come on. going through an alleged person's genealogy in no way proves he was indeed born, and that's assuming each of the ancestors were actually proven to exist. it's a house of cards.

and anyway joseph (assuming he existed) is the one who is supposed to have descended from david (assume he too existed). since jesus (assume he existed) is immaculately conceived... he is not actually related in any way to david.

  • I will tell you this much, in the interview with Baruch Halpern, it is as obvious to a blind bat that he is knowingly lying. His facial language could not be more clear. Anyone with even the vaguest knowledge of facial language will tell you this in 5 seconds flat!

  • @Snordelhans YES I noticed that too,he was coerced and maybe payed into LIEING!!

  • @Snordelhans Err... and why would he be lying??

  • @keirapotter I agree with snordelhans, Halpern is actually speaking quite flippantly about the figure of david, I even got the sense that he did not like him very much

  • @Snordelhans i think it has more to do with the pretty lady sitting across from him

  • @cnash41 And how about adding to that a camera that hovers on a side, not filming him for a significant amount of time directly from the front? :)

  • Hora!!!! kanajo wa atsui sugiru

  • I wish she would get dresses in different colours.

  • Why did they film her putting her makeup on? Sure she beautiful but this is a doco!

  • @dazzjazz I guess they wanted to have a modern and dynamic directing and style so they chose these kinds of short scenes as transitions while editing.

  • 12:45 Stop chatting to the camera and cross the road already.

  • Considering how common it was for ancient rulers to claim gods as personal ancestors I can't see the Tel Dan stela as proving anything.

  • Och aye- google- Edinburgh 'the real Jerusalem'

  • "Too detailed to be made up"...hahaha, they've obviously never read Lord of the Rings.

  • @hadzhere

Haha. I agree. Look at how Ancient Egyptians, ancient Chinese, and ancient Europeans (esp. the Greeks and nearby civilizations) wrote elaborate stories filled with facts and errors.

  • @hadzhere Or the bible
