  • Cornell Smelser is probably the only genuine "jazz accordianist"

Buster Moten, who was with the Bennie Moton group, also played some jazzy riffs

  • Amazing touch and great jazz chords from the left hand. It's wonderful to watch this musician.

  • Amazing touch and great jazz chords from the left hand.

  • Excellent!

  • a harmonious sense excellent...a truly great jazz accordionist

  • WOW.. ok.. i like this kind of accordion.. yeah.. a lot..... wow...

i didn't know you could do that with an accordion.

  • This is how to play accordion.

  • this is nice, but in an obvious way. you should check Berfer Szarmagaloff, he'll blow your mind, remember that name 'cause in a few years will be famous worldwide.

  • They need to make an ACCORDIAN HERO!

  • Smiling ham- is the name of the tune.

  • very, very nice

  • I've been around for quite a few years but I've never heard any body else play Stella

By Starlight the way maestro Frank does. I'm so glad to be able to see him play

in these videos. A miracle of YOU TUBE which I thank so much.

  • Greetings from Canada

    You are anazing!

  • Grande amigo e excelente Acordeonista.....

    Very Good

  • enchanting..sophisticated accords

  • I have been playing the accordion since 1941--and NO other accordionist has his talent and skill. Bravo Bravo. I listen to his Stella by Starlight daily.

  • Brilliant improviser- great accordion sound as well

  • very Good!!!!!

  • Not only is Frank my friend but I have had the unique pleasure to produce 3 of his albums. I love YouTube for the many lives his incredible talent will touch, immortalized forever here! Check out his release "Appassionato"!

  • I am playing accordeon also - and this guy is having FUN at his work and that´s what makes a good musician. can you see ham smile??

  • @nickklecks

My ham doesn't smile. If yours does, i suggest you have it looked at by a professional ham identifier to validate it's status as a ham.

  • @CakeDestroyer thats too funny lol

  • @CakeDestroyer lol oh my gosh you just turned a funny comment to a hilarious one

  • @nickklecks I have never seen ham smile, but I saw beef wink at me once.

  • @xango2001

Frank Marocco was born in Illinois and grew up in the town of Waukegan, a suburb of Chicago ;-)

    Is Illinois in Italia? ..^^

  • il mio fisarmonicista preferito,un grandissimo,in Italia se provi soltanto a suonare jazz con la fisarmonica muori letteralmente di fame, qua da noi va solo lo "zum pa pa" e i lisciaroli del sabato sera.

    Great Frank rulez!

  • Para mim, ele é o melhor acordeonista do mundo!

  • I started playing the accordion in 1941. If I had 1/1000 of the talent and skill as Frank I would still be making a living with the squeeze-box. Frank, you are without a doubt the best jazz accordionist in the country. Bravo BRAVO

  • Frank Marocco's solos are unique indeed and his technique is the most precise I've

ever heard. He never repeats him self in an improvisation because he has in his

mind millions of ideas just waiting to be played. All the jazz accordionists should

follow his foot steps...God bless you Frank!

  • Is that a new Victoria Accordion Frank is playing? Nice sound to the instrument.

  • bravo!!!! very nice.

  • I heard Tommy Gumina 53 years ago at a club in West Hollywood. I was taking lessons from Tito Guidotti at the time and Gumina was staying with he and Sylvia Prior. Tito said that I had to hear this great "young Turk". My Dad took me and we met Tito at the club. I was blown away by Gummina's playing. Marocco's playing is less flasy but very effedtive and skilled. I don't know how to judge them mano e mano.

  • great..

  • does he have free bass or stradella bass? can someone tell?

  • Frank is playing stradella bass and does not play free bass. Frank is a master of using bass and chord combinations in a novel way to produce "altered jazz chords" which is one of his specialties. You can tell by listening to the left hand and you will heard the chords (combination of 3 notes rather than one) along with the one note deeper sounding bass notes.

  • @fapetrilli that's great to know. I started a few months ago - but I have some jazz piano background- and I've been trying to get creative with the stradella bass to get jazz voicings. Encouraging to see how far it can be taken!

  • bliss

  • Nobody plays accordion solo like Frank Marocco - it is from another world - swing, drive - jazz - simply fantastic

  • Thank You Frank Marocco! You are the limit!
