I am so glad I found your channel!!! I was looking for this song, and of all the choices, I clicked on yours...and have found a channel devoted to my favourite music!!! <3
Overall quite nice, but I don't like the seemingly unrestricted play with embellishmentsin the soprano part...It's over done...In contrast the alto part comes across a little boring and unengaged...Still, certainly one of the better versions of this aria...
I'm singing this with my friend in our carol concert in two weeks, and our music teacher is going to play the organ for us! XD It's such a beautiful piece... thanks for uploading! x
The soprano sounds fabulous (of course I don´t mean the alto isn´t fine, ok?). Anyway I like this kind of airs or duets more like adagio than andante or so, I mean, the slower the better.
Nowadays baroque music is usually played faster, I know, but an air such as "Erbarme dich", from The Passion According To St. Mathews, by J.S.Bach, for example, SHOULD NEVER be performed fast. (Just a poor opinion of mine.)
Using this to practice for college auditions. haha it's the only one I could find in the right key as well. haha yay for counter-tenors ;D

Beautiful. I love Ms McNair's voice - it's so crystal clear and pure.

So check out Leontyne Price and particularly Marion Anderson for a slower pace.
Love the soprano. That tinkling bells tone.
