I find our Slavic mithology very interesting, but no more than that. As all other myths, they are myths. Christianity took paganism away form us, but I believe atheism is the way forward. Going back to old gods of our ancestors, who knew quite a lot, but could not tell you why there is lightning, thunder, rain and other stuff, is not a solution. Tradition and culture are interesting and they should be preserved,
because that is one of the things that makes us human. But praying to some mythical gods or to anything else is, in my opinion, quite useless. And building nationalism on old traditions is kind of useless, too, because no good ever comes of it. It is interesting to learn about how the people used to think when they could not prove something, though, and how good imagination they had even that long ago.
Oh, and just by the way, isn't it funny that Perun, Thor, Zeus, Jupiter and almost all other main gods are bearded old men with hammers, who control lightning and thunder?
And it is even more funny to me that when christianity took over in ancient Rome, even then they only took the hammer away from Jupiter and let him become the image of the only god, because it was easier for the population to accept him that way :).

The Christianizing of the Slavs was a bad thing for us. Christianity is self-destructive and leads to nihilism (Nietzsche's analysis). Also, the pagan religions would have had a philosophical development. Look at India for example, you have "polytheism" tied into some of the most sophisticated philosophies that there are (Vedanta).
Nietzsche analyzes quite well the condition created by Christianity. Plus, he comes from a strong tradition of Lutheran ministers. His father, his mother's father, and his father's father were all ministers. The metaphysics are a bit more complicated than what you think. To use an analogy, there is a pure light (divinity) that separates via a prism into multiple lights (gods). This is only one possible way to describe it.

Are you familiar with Neoplatonism? There is the One which emanates the Nous, which is composed of many "gods". There is a similar parallel in Vedanta as well. Why is this any less plausible than Christianity. Christianity took Neoplatonism and then Aristoteleanism for its philosophical outlook. These two could be compatible with a pagan outlook as well.

I would also like to add who is more Aryan, Slavs or Germans? The Aryan Y chromosome, which is R1a1, we see high amounts in Slavs upper caste Hindus. haha, when I was a kid and did some naughty trick, my grandpa was tenderly calling me Perun, we often use it as as a swear in Silesia, I believe its a slavic version of Thor, or Odin.

@md448 there is allways connection between indoeuropean pagan gods. Fo instance, Lithuanians have Perkūnas( it means thunder in Lithuanian) for Perun and Velnias( it means ruler of the undreworld an sinonim of Satan in christian propaganda) for Veles. They have preserved some ritual songs and rituals in some sence, practiced even during hudreds of years of christian oppression.

Perun-Perūnas-Perkūnas is direct translation of word ,, thunder" in Lithuanian.Thunder god.Can not be more clear.There was rituals and songs for Perkūnas and Velnias,and this tradition is still alive today. We even have festival of Velnias selebrated at autumn, called Vėlinės.and it is authentic.old as Europe.Perkūnas-god of war and life force,Velnias-god of the dead,master of mystical knowledge.on the other hand,I respect your point of view, as we all have one common enemy-judochristians :D

There's some theory, that slavs and balts were two different tribes sharing same religion and some aspects of culture. things you say... I have heard from other people and red in some books here in Lithuania. but it was not abou slavs. It was about balts:D everyone wants to be THE FIRST.Anyway, I do my research about baltic and slavic religion, not thinking hard about other cultures of our planet. after all, we all(white people) came from one source.

I would also like to add who is more Aryan, Slavs or Germans? The Aryan Y chromosome, which is R1a1, we see high amounts in Slavs upper caste Hindus. These are the Aryans that invaded and created the Aryan Vedic religion. As I said, this chromosome exists in significant numbers amongst the Slavs, but is relatively non-existent amongst Western Europeans.
