Hey, just a quick question. I haven't messed around with banjo heads at all. I've always had the top-frosted ones on my banjos. Just wondering what the difference is between the black one and the white frosted ones. Sounds to me like it gives off more of a heavy sound. May just be the mic. Let me know what your opinion is on it. Thanks!
With a nonfristed top, it gives the banjo a slightly deeper sound without the classic bright sound of a traditional banjo. At times I miss the frosted top because of the feel. In my opinion, I wish they made a black frosted head lol.
Is there any particular reason you're wearing all black in this movie? It does match your banjo head, which I think looks pretty cool, but why wear all black? I don't get it. Nice job playing.
Not really. It's my usual attire. I've always wanted a banjo with a black head anyway, so, they do kinda match lol. I've also added black tuning buttons. Totally awesome, I know lol.
home sweet home. why did you spike on the fifth fret on this song, wouldn't it be better if it was just an open g on the fifth string? i think it would. i like the black head on the banjo.
Its not necessarily wrong, its just a new approach. When playing in drop C, G is the 5th. On that song, I had 3 roots, 1 5th and 1 3rd. Mostly, I alternate between G and C on the 5th string. When everyone else does songs like this online, they keep it straight forward and traditional; I like to change it up a little lol. So, either way, we're both right, its just your and my personal preference. Hey, thanks for the input though, in all honesty, I like comments like this :)
Slick! Every fellow banjo player should pick with a hat on.
