The Israelis would thus be protecting their citizens from future attacks. But the last I checked Israel is the fourth most power military on the planet, and you don't need to blow the hell out of non-combatants in order to defend yourself. As long as the US subsidises Israel with weaponry and other aid there will be these attacks.
America wants to keep a hold on the Middle East and the Palestinians are very vulnerable. They do not have the support of subsidies from America... They do not have a army, they had land and homes. Now a high proportion of that has been taken by the settlers.
The Rockets fired by Palestinians are the only way they can even try to defend what is rightfully theirs.
