@snokidin Sorry, I can't say why the video stops and starts several times for you! I have just played it right through from start to finish. It never stopped once.
And I know this song from the 93 album called The Gift you are. Is that the first time this song was published? Does anyone know this?
The album is very nice. But the recordcompany only allowed him a photo on the front, and white on the back of the paper. And the titles, as usual, on the back of the cd-box
The song 'Sing Australia' appeared first on John Denver's 'Higher Ground' album. It also appeared on 'A Portrait', 'The John Denver Collection - Calypso', and of course 'The Gift You Are' album.
"I come to Australia, to see doo doo things"?? I beg your pardon???
In the beginning you see John obviously forgot the first line. I think another person helps him out by singing the song along. Then he looks like he is saying: Pfooh, thank you God!!!
He did forget the line - but I can guarantee you - he never knew what hit him!!! When this happens - there is NO warning - you can be going over the line in your mind - and then 10 seconds later - COMPLETELY forget it!!!! It just happens - obviously - even to the best of them!! And when you do this and you recognize it immediately - so sing the music - doo - doo - da - doo!!!!
It also comes right back without warning - but I'd bet that someone gave him a hint!! THAT will solve the problem!!!
Sounds to me like he is saying something more like: "I come to Australia to the Sea of Dudalee..." ??????? Something more like that. I just do not hear "doo doo things" :)) Anyway, he difinitely decided to change or accidentally changed the first words :)
This was recorded on 6/21/92 in Newcastle, Australia where John was the special guest at Gala Premiere for the opening of the Newcastle Entertainment Center.
Hi. Love this! I used to live in Queensland, and it's fun to hear him sing this. I saw him in 1985 in California (and got to meet him!!!!) and again in 1991.
michaeldonegan- It was either 6/20/92 Brisbane, Australia where John was a special guest at the opening of the new Southbank Parklands Amphitheater or 6/21/92 where John was a special guest at the Gala Premiere opening of the Newcastle Entertainment Center. Hope this helps! Thanks for sharing !
Glad to help. I might be wrong but the stage does not look like an amphitheater to me so it was probably the 6/21/92 concert. Thank you so much for all your postings and for helping to keep John's memory alive.

I really loved this song by John. Do you have more of what he might was going to say afterwards? ~~Ava~~
sweetpea027 2 years ago 2
Sorry Ava, I think I posted all I had.
There were, I think, three songs in this show and I posted all three on YouTube. He also sang 'Calypso' and 'Different Directions'.

Interesting performance. He seemed to forget the first line - If it's a solo performance he might have had a "take two"!

Whoohaha! so funny!!
John started too late with singing! and later he missed the words of that first sentence!
Hihihi even the best singers in the world make mistakes! It's nice to see how he put some other words into the song and doing if nothing happens....
I love it!!!!
thanks for posting
