  • as i see these r 3d projections of them. i'm not a professor but as far as i know from other youtube videos, rotating 4th or 5th dimensions in 3d space seem way different than this.

  • But instead of a spin, you'd see all sides simutaneously

  • its hard to understand, cause you used 3d objects to represent a 4d object

    just sayin...

  • @PedroV362 That's because we don't hve 4d objects but we know what their shadow would look like if they were to cast one on our dimension, Carl Sagan explained it.

  • @EyeInTriangle1 LOL I'm just twelve and I understood this!

  • @PedroV362 Yep, it's not hard to understand most things, just takes a bit of common sense.

  • @EyeInTriangle1 true

  • @EyeInTriangle1 A 4th dimension shape is evident in a doughnut, jfyi.

  • @PedroV362 Actually it was a 2d object used to illustrate a 4d & 5d shapes.

  • @TCupUK I dont think so... but i wont disagree, cause I dont understand much of this

  • Respond to this video... You kind of have disagreed, even if you can not explain why. :)

Dimensions of reality are not the same as dimensions of a shape. Shapes are done as followed. 1D x Axis 2D x + y Axis and 3D is x,y and z Axis. The problem is when we try for the 4d, because we do not have another axis after z to add. However we can still illustrate a 4D shape with x,y and z by simply adding a twist to the x axis.

Continued due to you tubes stupid word limitations.

  • Respond to this video... Take a ribbon, add a twist and join it as a circle. Take a pen and start on the outside, you can go both inside and outside of the ribbon with never leaving the ribbon. This is a true 4D shape, and is evident everywhere. Especially in the structure of DNA.

I hope this helps you to understand.

  • @TCupUK sorry, i don't know what exactly is a ribbon, cause i am not american, im brazilian, so i dont speak english very well, but i think i understood you :)

  • whats the name of that song

  • finally we end up with another cube.... isn't it???

  • As a mathematician, the 4th dimension is whatever I say it is, whenever I say it.

  • @Frisbieinstein Well put!

  • The fourth dimension is time. Think about it. For any dimension lower than the one above can only see part of the dimension. If a cube visited a square then the cube would look like a square to the other square because thats all it can conceive. We only see one frame of time at one time. Like movies have frames we only see one at a time even if it is for a short period of time. If we were four dimensional we could travel through time and we would look like we do now to any 3 dimensional object

  • shadow of the 3d = 2 d shadow of the 4d = 3d shadow of the 5d = 4d so we can not see the shadow of the 5d objectcs

  • @naveedcs That is crazy, you seem to forget that a shadow needs an external light to be able to cast.

A shape can not be dictated by its shadow, even if a shadow can be dictated by a shape.

  • 4d would be in a diff universe?

  • you idiot the tesseract is THE SHADOW of the hypercube, their not the same thing.

  • @geglespheler Do research and fix your grammar before calling someone an idiot. A hypercube is an orthotope in any dimension above 3. A tesseract is a hypercube of dimension 4 (tessera=4). Both words are names of the actual shapes, not of the projections.

  • is very frustrating to see only the shadows of the objects in fourth dimension

    :(

  • @QUINN1313

Not exactly... You can't rotate an object around time like you can rotate it around the z-axis.

  • I wanna go back to the blue room! D:

  • how about some carl voice-over and less of your shit music.

  • higher dimensions are so beyond our grasp of knowledge that it is hard to imagine what they would be/

  • dude thats fucked up... i have drawn something very similair to 0:14 many times out of boredum... and thought about it today(x.y.z.n or w/e) weird.

  • Nice 4D-to-3D-shadow animation!

Oh, and what's the name of the awesome music in the video? =3

  • very clever animation..good idea of planes, surfaces, and vectors...

maybe some kid will grasp this and open a new eye into reality...

it's gotta be a young kid who has not been prgrammed to only see three dimesions..

    lets hope...

    good work

  • kinda like a 3rd dimension existing within a matrix...

  • deep bro...

  • nice vid about the shadow in 3rd dimension of the 4th dimensional tesseract;)

  • Спасибо за видео! Насколько я знаю, четвертое измерение позволяет видеть предметы одновременно снаружи и изнутри.

  • I see it this way: the entire thing is "4D." The center "cube" represents a person in the fourth dimension, and the solids surrounding it roughly represent the 3D "cube" that such a person sould be able to see.

Similarly with 5D, the 4D object (being the entire cube someone in the fourth dimension would see) represents someone in the fifth dimension, and the marble-like objects represent the boundaries of what that person "sees."

  • like for example, a ghost appearance ?

  • interesting :) Thanks for sharing!

  • UMMMMMMMMMM....... i don't think thats a 4d OR 5d cube. i don't even know what i was just looking at.

  • well i doubt you are suppose to know what you are looking at, 4d and 5d is not bound to our reality so we wouldnt have a idea of what the hell we seeing at all.

  • well... yes. but this seems 3d.

  • it should because as you go higher in dementions your just adding another direction, you dont lose any of the previous ones,so it should look 3d and look some other weird way,i cant say that this video demonstrates it perfect because iv never been to 4d but iv seen better illustrations

  • that makes better sence than what i was saying =D

  • well it should seem 3d. In our reality, 3D objects have a 2D shadows. Then in other realities 4D objects would have a 3D shadow. It's impossible to show how a 4D object looks in our world, but it's possible to show how a shadow of 4D object would look like and that shadow looks 3D in our world. So basically you're looking at a projection of a 4D object, like a shadow of it.

  • where did you here this?

  • diving

  • stop playing with my mind!

  • we do it constantly.....its called time. if you want to slow down how fast you go through it move faster in our 3 dimensions.

  • I really dont want to go into the underworld of Theory again...

I went in once, and found conspiracy theorys....

    Never again...

  • if yous hine light on a 3d object, you get a 2d shadow, so if you shina a light on a 4d object, you get a 3d shadow, llol

  • but then you'll need a 4D light bulb.. man those are so expensive.

  • Loll, Im gonna get 1 off eBay!

  • hahahaha xD

  • @iraqifreak in a way, all lightbulbs are 4d because everytime you turn it on, your looking into the past !:p

  • @LavaSharkDan doesnt that depend on the distance from the lightbulb? i know looking at the stars is looking into the past tho

  • @ZmbQn not really- its the same principal, but the time is quite a bit less to go from a bulb to your eye than from the sun. All we see is not 'real' time, but what hapened when the light left any given object.

  • bangNL94, that's a cool thought but we are in a 3D world so we are surround by 3D objects. A 3D object cannot have a 3D shadow in our world the same way a 2D object can't have a shadow in it's 2D world, they can only have 1D shadows that represent length.

  • time being the 5th dimension or the 4th or whatever is not true time is just a princepal humans live by.Other things could live without time we wouldnt see them move as they apper to be stopped but they are moving there not moving ''fast'' just not using time to move

  • Geez, why does everyone keep saying the thing about the fourth dimension being time? This is how it works: there's more than one kind of four-dimensional space, in a mathematical sense. As examples, this is R^4 with the Euclidean metric; "space-time" is R^4 with the Minkowski metric. I suggest that people interested in knowing what the difference is look into differential geometry since it is interesting.

  • its actually just a different timespace. Its the same space in a different time, not time itself.

  • Comment removed

  • @qwAirGear well these two theories (the geometric and time theory) are really the same thing. The idea is that time is another tangible axis in which objects can exist, so a tesseract's fourth dimension is time if you're willing to believe that.

  • @qwAirGear They're meaning 4dimensional space-time I would assume. I always find it best to specify

  • is it justme wh is dum or shoud i udertand that++

    y keyboard is broeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

  • Chech the vid "Carl Sagan 4th Dimension", then you know what it means. Well... it's math.

To make it short, that is what a 5 dimensional cube would look like while it moves trough your room. It stays in position, just the shape would change while moving, then it dissapears. If you ever see such a thing, runnnnnn! =D

  • This is just a mind-fuck.

  • The 5th dimension projected here is information. The colors you see are how diffirent the information is compared to how it's turning to you.

  • Yep yep. I have no idea what a "shadow of a dimention" means.

  • image engine

  • we wouldnt kno because we can only see in the 3rd dimension..itll be one big blob

  • time is the 4th dimension but what is the 5th

  • A Calbi Yau space. One of 23.

  • 5th dimension is possibilities of timelines. Ie. you can be in one timeline you can be doctor time can split in that moment and in second time line you can be a politician.

Understand?Higher dimension are superior to lower dimensions.

  • Time may be considered a fourth dimension, but the tesseract and higher dimensional figures only consider supplementary dimensions in Euclidean space.

Time could just as easily be the 3-1/2th dimension or 0th dimension.

  • whats the song via reply please :D

  • How is this 4D?

  • the 4th dimension is im possible to see because ts impossible to know wats goin on

    in a sense

  • you can glimpse at it in your mind some times, when a 3D animation is animated considering the 4th dimension you can kind of imagine it for a short time, but then the brain recognises the pattern and asociates it with 3D again.

the way i often imagine it is as a very obvious you over looked space, it here. its all around us, just we evolved to understand 3D. its right in front of our eyes, glearing us in the face, yet the brain filters it like eyes filter out some kinds of light. hmmm headache.

  • but it;s possible to imagine, there are really sick people and university professors who can imagine 4d rotating object in 3d space

  • Okay, show 4D & 5D in a life form, such as a rabbit. How would we see a rabbit in this way? Show it.

  • Can't because the rabbit would disappear

  • exactly the 4th and 5th dementions are movement and time

  • no 4th is time - 5th is information

  • no 4th is movement and 5th is time

  • 11th is time you tard. 4th is duration 5th is spacial

  • Remember, you can't move through time as you like, it is no direction. These maths see dimensions as directions.

If you knew a 4th dimension (direction) you would title time as 5th. That's what these guys here do. There is also time in this movie, because the calculated projection of the 5D cube moves through our 3 dimensions.

  • I believed that they managed to make 5d and further, i thought that it is now considered by mathematicians that the 0th dimension is time

  • NO. The 0th dimension is a freaking DOT.

  • but isnt a dot a really short line? either that or a small circle?

  • It's a point. It could be more, but according the standard of humans, it's a connecting device.

I'm not mad btw; laughing actually.

Time? Ah, not sure which dimension that is.

  • yes, a point in space has do dimensions. no length, no width, no depth. and time is just another dimension know to some as duration

  • do you mean that the time is unidimensionnal?

  • nope. in theory, a true dot has no size. it is an imaginary representation of a position in a system.

  • Any "point" of location.

  • no, when you think of dot, you are thinking of a dot of discernible size, a real dot, would not be seen.

  • Or some may call it a point.

  • Could be nothing at all.

  • just like there are 3d renderings on a 2d screen there can be 4d renderings on a 3d screen (in otherwords virtual realits or holograms) but you cant accuratly see a 4d shadow being rendered in 3d and put on a 2d screen

  • i understand, the human mind was maid for only 2d and 3d rendering. it is impossible to understand anything above the 3rd demension

  • the tesseract couldnt possibly look like that...

    line^2= square

    square^2= cube

    cube^2= tesseract...

inother words.. a tesseract is the shape when an area with only straight lines at 90 degree angles is surrounded by cubes...

    in 3d.. this doesnt exist...

therefor.. absolutly NO human has even a clue as to what a tesseract looks like... furthermore... if we ever saw one, we would be hopelessly confused because we see 2d and can percieve 3d...

if you understood this... kudos to you..

  • actually we can see 3d, we just can't survey it on a flat computerscreen

  • Wow. i get it.... weird...

  • It's not exactly true that we would not know about a fourth or fifth dimension. It just takes a very advanced mind to perceive it.

A good example has always been the book "Flatland", the story of 2-d beings being visited upon by a 3-d object.

It's difficult, but not impossible to imagine it.

  • you just added four triangles and then went crazy and added bubbles and shit thats not 4D or 5D

  • actually, these are not shadows, they only give a hint of a hyperdimensional (here it just means it has more than 3 spatial dimensions) object's inner structure

  • this is 3
