No doubt you meant no offence, and were just having fun, but you should have realised that a "no-entry" sign is there for a reason and your actions would cause offence (and therefore hurt) to someone.
You shouldn't disrespect other people's property, religion and culture. Not only did you cross a "no entry" barrier into a bell chamber, but you did so with your shoes on, I only hope that you stopped short of sounding the drum(s)/bell with that baton you picked up. They are not there to be played with, they perform specific tasks for the temple at specific times.
