  • I always get so relaxed by watching these videos :P

  • good thinkin japanese dog!

  • it doesnt matter where the dish originated, she made that like a boss idgaf wacha think, u know that shit is delicious too

  • I love how Francis looks sleepy throughout most of the video, as if he had ASMR and his brain tingled to the sound of cooking. xD

  • omg i was scared when the knife pointed at me D: 0:54

  • Thumbs up if you just love everything about chef :D

    Cause I do <3

  • I was not sure about the ketchup at first but it is truly superb!

  • really a nice recipe but ketchup? really?

i guess for that part I stay with the classic way to make a tomato sauce, haha

  • @Emerald1sky Spaghetti Napolitan sauce is smoother and sweeter than the typical marinara sauce we might be used to. It might not be to your taste, but you can't really say anything until you try it.

  • @fuuchan27

hm, well I do can. Since it isn't such a rare occurance that people use ketchup to spaghetti I already tried it to see what people like about it and I still believe it doesn't mix well. But as you also know, taste is different and everyone should do what the want :D

  • I wish she were my cooking teacher , I love to cook, I wanna be like her >.<

  • THE WAY SHE OUT IN THE SPAGHETTI IN THE DAMN POT! DID YOU SEE THAT? DID YA?? DID CHU SEE THATTT??? she got swag.

  • i made this tonight!! so goooood

  • Quick and easy and delicious! Thank you so much, this was my supper tonight! :) I may have had my heat too high, the sauce reduced more than in the video...but it still coated the pasta well.

  • I really like watching these videos because I learn new techniques to cook.

  • Oishiso!!!!

  • Wow ~ The woman is really talented ! I want to be her daughter to eat everything she make :D And the dog is very good & cute, 2 =))))

    Greetings from Mexico

  • She's the real life Cooking Mama *____*

I thought she only existed in the game . . .

  • was waiting for her to add the dog.

  • @loutboy It would have been an interesting variation on spaghetti, to say the least.

  • the dog is falling asleep....

  • Wish my knife was that sharp... mine couldn't cut through a fart :*(

  • Just cooked this. I tried beef sirloin because I didn't eat pork. Still amazing!! Thank you francis!

  • @junsu79

    Never said it was.

  • @junsu79 She already said it's "unique to Japan".

  • @junsu79 She never said it was. It's a yoshoku dish, Western-inspired Japanese food. Napolitan pasta is a uniquely JAPANESE creation not American. It's said that it was created by a Japanese hotel chef who was inspired by the pasta and tomato sauce eaten by American soldiers after WWII. So its a very recent Westernized creation, but not remotely Italian and no one ever said it was.

  • @junsu79 Its not meant to be Italian. Its inspired by American style pasta dishes and then changed to suit Japanese tastes.

  • i cant wait to make this on my own time :D !

  • Tasty and simple to make.

  • this is so gooooooood!!!!!!!!! I made it three times in a row XD still want more :x:x

  • I've followed this recipe and loved it, we used to go with our Spaghetti recipe when I was a child but it always made me feel heavy and very sleepy, but I can't tell how many times I made this every month lol I just had to keep getting Parmesan cheese as it does give great taste :3 thanx so much

  • @PhilWithCoffee That knife is 越前数馬作. means Echizen Kazuma made. It is a Japanese famous kitchen knife. Echizen Kazuma Saku is also the traditional industrial art object. I think you have good eyes 'cause noticed that.

  • @yookooyoo Heh, thank you for the compliment! It was the patterning of the blade that gave it away. Also, thank you for the information. I was looking into them and found some BEAUTIFULLY crafted knives at a site called Japanesechefsknife, I had no idea of the amount of artistry that went into making some of these.

  • We tried it. Now, it's one of our regular dinner dishes.

  • 2:50 woah!

  • Wow, a lot of the commenters below sound RETARDED as hell (especially anyone who poorly attempted to speak Japanese/Italian). Don't make criticisms when you don't understand the origins of a dish. Different cultures have taken different dishes from other cultures and tuned them to suit the taste/expectations of the people (at the time they were brought over). Shut up and learn your history, shut up and enjoy the video, shut up and subscribe. :)

  • @Kismet137 well said. Like for example USA has pizza that is of thicker crust compared to the Italians that prefer the thin crust.

  • @Dragan572 You might try New York pizza if you feel American pizza all has thick crust. Neopolitan pizza (thinner crust even than New York style, typically) is also popular on the east coast.

  • I will definitely try this tomorrow! Im so excited!:)

  • Easy and tasty.

    :)

  • I definately plan on making this :D

  • I'm Italian and I approve this recipe.

  • The irony of an asian cooking show with the dog as a host is sooooooooooooooo funny. Noodle Poodle for the season finale?

  • @bbrroowwnnoo XD lol this is funny but japan doesnt eat dog BUT they eat horse :/

  • @BrandiMonsterRAWR

Horse meats are worth a lot!

  • wat happened to her thumb ?

  • ?????Ive never seen people get so enraged over ketchup. If your in the states....if you take away high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, and long azz weird names....the ketchup would probably taste normal. When mom didn't have but enough money for just one can of sauce....guess what she used to stretch the pasta sauce.

  • I apologize to those who are offended by using ketchup with spaghetti, but this is a very common practice in many countries (eg Sweden etc). The recipe is good even if you balk at the ingredients. Quit with the ethnocentric comments.

  • @thysonsacclaim Please dont use google translator -_- your Japanese is all over the place; native speakers won't even have a clue as to what you are saying... (I dunno about ur Italian though as I do not speak Italian)

  • @kb27787

Perhaps you should focus on the subject of one's comments rather than the grammar usage of that comment. The Italian should be understandable, but the grammar may be lacking. This is merely a guess based on my knowledge of Latin

In any case, it would probably be more worthwhile to make degrading remarks to those who are degrading the Japanese dish itself, rather than those who are attempting to convey their opinions in a cosmopolitan manner.

    K? Thxbai

  • @kb27787

Oh and hey, I got 2 thumbs up.Where are yours? =]

  • @kb27787

Sorry, this is probably better for Italian:

La ricetta è buona anche se si fermava per l'ingredienti. Si prega di smettere con i commenti etnocentrici.

    That suit you, daddy?

  • @thysonsacclaim

XD I dont know Italian... go ask someone who does. It was nothing personal, so don't take offense. The problem with the Japanese you wrote down is that you probably ended up saying the opposite of what you intended. (I wont nitpick about particle usage, or verb form or word choices) The last sentence, translated loosely: (I) shall end/terminate (something) with/by (an) "ethnocentric" comment(s). So it becomes that you yourself are the one making those comments.

  • I made this tonight, and it tasted absolutely great !! ^-^

  • Comment removed

  • @originalhd1 I don't think she ever claimed it was an authentic Italian dish. "Spaghetti Napolitan" is what authentic sushi is to a California roll. Its different, but still under the same style of cooking.

Calm down, we all know what "real Italian" dishes are.

  • I made this for home ec exams and it turned out great! Thanks for the recipe!

  • probably,Francis bit her thumb!

  • Comment removed

  • It's called Napolitan but of course is not the Neapolitan dish. I'm really sorry to Neapolitan for the misleading name.

  • I wonder what happened to her finger :c

  • tomato ketchup

  • @Iereb

look at 4:01, we know that this isn't italian dish.

    it's japanese home cooking.

italian restaurants don't serve it even in japan.

we know what the real italian food is, and love it !

sorry for my poor english. (from japan)

  • @Iereb She says at the end that this is a unique pasta from Japan. Just look it up.

  • @Iereb not every spaghetti is the same =w=;;

  • @Iereb soo?

it doesn't matter, they do it their own way, and I'm sure it's as delicious as the spaghetti in italy.

I'm sure if you made a japanese dish, you would do it differently than they do in japan.

  • (^-^) I like how she used fake Parmesan and real Parmesan

  • Looks great but the ketchup is....um....questionable. Think I'll stick with tomato sauce.

  • Japanese people sure like ketchup!

  • Simple , rapide et surtout délicieux. J'adore.

  • @Mystica132 oui tu as raison!!

  • i <3 francis!!!

  • the meal looks so delicious! ^_^ but what happened to ur thumb? :(

  • aww sleepy francis :3

  • 1:37 LOOK FRANCIS LOLOL

    -

Francis is an intelligent dog which can explain a recipe while sleeping.

  • this recipe looks ok but it certainly isnt spaghetti napolitan... cook a soffrito of onion, garlic, carots and celery in a pot of fresh pealed tomatoes, strain the sauce after cooking down and mix with spaghetti.. voila.

  • @ukguy It's not supposed to be a legit way of making the actual Spaghetti Neopolitan XD But rather, the style of spaghetti she said she ate at the restraunts when she was a kid during a time when tomatoes were expensive. Regardless though...I'm feeling awfully hungry for spaghetti now lol

  • @ukguy it`s japanese style napolitan ;) but what is soffrito?

  • @MsSevenstation a Soffrito is a base used in alot of recipes of finely chopped onion, celery and carrots fried in olive oil. It is similar to a french MirePoix. I know it is a made up recipe but Neopolitan means from Naples in Italy... some people spell it Napolitan.

  • made some just now >w< yummy!

  • The use of tomato ketchup surprised me ! first thought would be "sacrilege" but it looks delicious so why not ! Cooking is such an incredible way of trying things !

  • @Yoros009 It's actually really good in this lol. I was iffy at first too but it doesn't even taste like ketchup when it's all done.

  • 1:32 Francis is falling asleep!

  • @ReginaEmeraldas Whatever this recipe is funny, but I'd use more tomatoes sauce (or chopped tomatoes), no butter at the end and less onions. A good idea it's: to fry onions with ham and after add mushrooms and peppers. When they are quite cooked I'd add tomatoes.

  • @MrTommyfifaking154

He has a Shogun hair cut! :)

  • Curious. What's on her thumb?

  • ur awesome at chopping garlic :)

  • At 0:48, Francis' face kills me

  • Poor Francis he's so tired lol

  • Awesome.!

Those 93 dislike can never get ahead of themselves in the art of cooking. Those should have an open-minded when it comes to food art. I guess they think CA rolls are original? XD

  • Thanks for this easy recipe. It was easy and I could make it with what was in my fridge easily.

Dunno why the Italians were so upset about a variation of pasta recipe. A good home chef experiments with what they have in the fridge to make cheap good tasting food.

  • Amazing! Thanks!!cooking mama !!

  • ooo she fancy did you see how she put that pasta in there

  • @MISSILECRAZY

  • Ohh, I'm going to make this for my mom.

  • She hurt her thumb :( I hope it wasn't while she was cooking!

  • Since cooking this recipe, I have found that using chorizo instead of ham is very tasty, too.

Thankyou again Francis and Madamme Chef.

    :)

  • * chorizo sausage.

  • Since the Italian cuisine has too much salt, it does not suit Japanese people.

Therefore the Italian restaurant of Japan reduces quantity of the salt.

  • @HwarangXia Thanks to your comment.

My comment about salt is about "the dish of restaurant."

It is not explanation about the home-cooked meals.

As for the daily mean salt intake, both an Italian and a Japanese are about the same.

  • Japanese food. Pickles and miso soup have much salt.

The average value of salt of the foods of other Japan is low.

However, pickles and miso soup have raised the average value of salt in Japanese foods.

The food of the Tohoku district raises average value, too.

  • YUMMY

  • AWESOME how u put thee noodle into thee pot!!!:))

  • :34 Dog's eyes are watering from the onion.

  • awww what happened to your thumb? :(

  • I think that it looks great. :\ And I can't wait to make it. (:

  • No offense but stick to cooking Asian dishes. Ketchup and water is a horrible idea for a tomato sauce. Even the yellowish-orange coloring of the sauce at the end does not look tempting.

  • @italianbubble You might be missing the point; it's an American/Italian dish as viewed from a Japanese standpoint, and it probably tastes pretty good to a culture that likes slightly sour/sweet rice around raw fish XD

Enlightening and surprising flavor; it fits in the recipe list quite nicely ^^

Not to mention the water is filled with starch from the cooking pasta and the finished sauce is mellowed out a bit from its vinegary flavor with the butter. A very Italian cooking method

  • Skillz 02:48

  • The dog is sleeping in this episode lol

  • naporitan

  • this is one of the few I'm not excited about, definitely wouldn't put KETCHUP on noodles *yuk*

  • @LMTR14 if it's ''yuk', they prbly wouldn't have put up a video on it.. just saying

  • @LMTR14

The taste is way different than what you'd expect, and in a good way.

  • @LMTR14

Its actually a really common way of eating spaghetti noodles. Ketchup and other sauces on noodles are surprisingly delicious. Some food snobs are well...very snobby about the way spaghetti is eaten but that's why this is called Spaghetti Napolitan

  • I didn't even think that people would say anything about the authenticity, since it's so obvious that this is a Japanese adaptation of whatever the original spaghetti dish was. I guess some people are way more stupid that I thought.
