and after hearing the ruckus downstairs, and from the position of their bodies...Joy and Billy, were probably awake when Diles and the men came into their rooms. How terrifying! Joy or Billy were the ones screaming "Please don't kill me". Susan Launius was found in front of her bed, and from her testimony, was dozing off when they came into her room. Ron was sacked out. Susan had to have screamed first. Poor Barbara didn't have a chance being right by the front door...didn't see it coming.
From my research after reading testimonies from Lind, here is what happened: Deverell, Lind and Launius got back from the Nash house about 10am after the burglary. Holmes was jonesing on the couch, and jumped up to greet them with Joy and Barbara. The 3 men went to Launius room by themselves to split the loot and each take a 25% share. Holmes waited impatiently downstairs while the girls went to Canyon Corner Store to buy booze and cigarettes. The 3 robbers split $100k three ways. Holmes got 3k

Very good points which back up my "Wonderland Gang did not Rob Nash Theory." These guys didn't look like much but they were trained combat Vietnam Infantry Vets. If they just robbed a big-shot liked Nash I find it highly unlikely they would all be sleeping in the same Town, much less the same house. They had the guns they robbed Nash with and got the old antique guns back; yet not one gun or shot was fired or found in the house. No evidence of police uniforms being worn by Wonderland gang.
How do we really know the Wonderland Gang actually hit Nash's house? Nash said the robbers were dressed up as cops, so would there not be cop uniforms at Wonderland? Maybe Nash paid off Lind to make up the story by sparing him his life? I still think there is more to this story then we actually know. Where do these so called "facts" come from, reliable witnesses such as Holmes and David Lind? Maybe Nash owed money and that is why he had so much cash, maybe Holmes sold out Wonderland.
My opinion, The Wonderland Gang never hit Nash's house. If someone did in fact rob Nash, perhaps Holmes set that up also, as he was a known snitch for the cops. That would explain the presence of police uniforms being worn by Nash's robbers. I think Holmes sold out the Wonderland gang because he either owed Nash money or got caught working with some other gang. If Holmes knew Wonderland had cash/drugs from a previous hit, that would explain how he let Nash's guys in, without waking anyone.
The killers must have been professionals for sure, confident enough to go in there with metal pipes. Ive always wondered though how they managed to take everyone out so quickly, especially the guy who opened the door, who managed to make it back upstairs, probably to get a gun. These guys were Vietnam Infantry vets, yet one of them didnt even move as he was being hit in bed. Very strange..the more I watch the crime scene the more questions pop in my head. Place must be haunted for sure.
@LRASS2009 yes, i agree they must have been really fast, but i assume that they were all so stoned, that they were not able to react!i just ask myself, how many guys stormed the building??but only eddie nash could answer that question!!
@LRASS2009 Are you sure Ron didnt move i mean getting hit in the head prob woke him up but as i look at his body kind of seems like his wrist is broke as if he tryed putting his hand or arm up to block the blows....

It's very odd to see the then versus now footage. You know it's the same place, but the older footage looks somehow like (obviously) a bad dream, blurry and far-away.
Hey Tenacity this is a great video. I was unaware of what happened on Wonderland Ave. I am really into houses, designs and living space...how much living space is this house as far as sq ft ??Is the house for sale or lease? The street is very small and driving there at night is very eerie my stomach aches when I drive up that street.
@4stemcellresearch The place is pretty small, and it has a kind of odd split-level feel to it. I don't know the square-footage, but I would put it at around 1,000. It's two bedrooms. I believe it's been a rental for years.
One thing I have always wanted to know about the house, does it have a back garden?: Its hard to figure out what the back of the house looks like as its built on a slope' does it have a garden or just a yard? Also, it looks much smaller in realife than in the Wonderland film.
You can sort of hear the sad silence and not to mention, feel the total emptiness inside the house.. So depressing...
I can see they've redecorated, maybe in order to incurrage people to buy the house but who in their right mind would want to live in it knowing what happened there for almost thirty years ago! Imagine sleeping alone in one of the bedrooms.. Brrr... Gives me the chills..O_o
I know what you mean about the emptiness inside the house; it feels as though all the living which could have been done in this house has happened, and its just a shell. I would love to visit it though. What is terrifying too is the awful 1970's decor in the crime scene video; that carpet and sofa are crimes against humanity!!
These people were drug addicts and criminals..They stole from a major drug dealer that still resides here in LA..And oh yeah..they never convicted that asshole...
I always find the story of John Holmes to be interesting in a man on top could fall so hard so fast. Its a plain example of how drugs can ruin your life or someone elses. Great Video
@meatman310 if you consider letting people film you because you were born with a giant cock as being "on top", you really must be a glass-half-full kind of guy.
another way to phrase your point is, "He shouldn't have liked doing drugs more than showing his dick to people"
the quick flashes of the real life victims in the Wonderland movie were totally horific and terrifying. I couldnt even sleep. I had to acually have someone watch the last part of the movie with me. funny how something so long ago cuold turn your skin with just pictures
@BRUTUALTRUTH YES!!! The Wonderland gang robbed a high profile drug dealer named Eddie Nash and in retaliation Nash sent his men with John Holmes to Wonderland. You have to see the movie.
@BRUTUALTRUTH have you seen the movie 'Wonderland'??You have to see it. It is a good portrayal of the story and very close to fact. Both gangs were notorious not to mention they were crooks. Eddie Nash was the Pablo Escobar (somewhat) of Los Angeles back in the 70's.
Some rap duo, LMFAO I think they're called, lives in it now. Just is really creepy in my opinion, but they were on TMZ and seemed pretty excited about it bragging how it was the same house.
And John Holmes had no remorse for what happened. He told his wife they were dirt, they were filth and it was them or me. Just like he performed in porn for 3 years after he knew he had AIDS. He is certainly what some people refer to him as the demon of the porn industry.
was at the house on wonderland yesterday where this took place. Kind of Ironic, If you continue passed it and take a left at the "Y" you come upon one of the most beautiful views of L.A. You can see from the Long Beach port to Catalina Island. Also checked out where the tate/la bianca murders took place. Another great view of Downtown LA from there.
From what i heard on the commentary of the film Wonderland, i guess the reason why Cristina Applegate was involved with the film and decided to play such a small part was because she use to live like down the street from that house when she was a kid and one day was taking a drive with her parents and she remembers seeing the bloody matresses sitting in front of the driveway like some days after the murders.
I guess it's just the whole idea of imagining that you're those people in bed, sleeping peacefully only to most likely waking up for a split second to see a silouhette figure of a man standing over you bashing your head in. It's so haunting. And its so weird that i was born just over a month after all this went down, August 23rd.
For some reason this crime really got to me. It was just haunting. And watching this is just so eerie on so many level. The fact that it's basically unsolved, as far as not knowing whether John Holmes actually participated in the killings or whether he was only forced to watch. I had gotten the dvd of the movie and it came with crime scene video, on top of it watching the last like 5 minutes of the movie..yeah, gave me nightmares...
I can totally relate to this crime really getting to you!! It does to me as well...its just so weird and creepy. Apparently it was a junkies den wasnt it? I would love to visit it:)
Well i don't know about junkie's den. A junkie's den would refer to someplace that's been abandoned or something like that. But it was a happening place back from around '78 or '79 to '81. That's where 80% of L.A.'s drugs were bought from. Hence why pornstar John Holmes would hang out in such a place. You should see the film Wonderland if you haven't already. Along with the film, in the special features they give the actual crime scene video. So eerie.
love the vids that you have done very interesting you should do more about john holmes i would love for a scycic to to go there and see if he actualy did do anything there
Holmes Led the Killers to the House. While Nash waited in the Car.The Witness Survived only Because her Blood Dried keeping her Skull intact.Holmes finger Print was Found on a Wall over David Lyn's Body, this Victim Made Holmes Take his Dick out at Parties like some Freakshow because Holmes always owed him Money For Dope.
So, why didnt they kill John Holmes? From the what they show here, John, and the dead guy on the bed, and the girl that survived, were all in the bedroom together, probably fucking, and the drug dealers caught em off guard...but id like to know details of john holmes' relations to the murderers....cause why would they leave a witness?!
Eddie didn't find that robbery too amusing, then again how would you feel if some m'fuckers came and took $1.2 mil in dope and jewellery. You'd be fuckin pissed! and all because they didn't know the Arab was Eddie Nash! the charming Holmes at work? unbelievable tale!
Remember John Holmes was a fucking airhead. He had no sense,he was a basehead, coke head. He had no brains. He did all his thinking from his cock. "He had a mile of dick and no balls" - quoted from Det. Nico from the movie 'Wonderland',lol.
when i was living in L.A i rented wonderland and they have scenes in the movie where it shows like a map of hollywood and how to get to wonderland ave, ive been to that house twice in my life, the address number in the movie is backwards. i love the houses up in those hills. man i wish i could have partied with those cats.
I read in a playboy interveiw that Eddie Nash would go like 3 days without wiping his ass after taking a shit and then have some women over for a party. He would get them lit up and when they started coming down and fienning he would give them another line of blow if and only if they would lick his shitty asshole. Eddie Nash was such an outstanding asset to the Los Angles community....save trees ...
rent the movie 'Wonderland'. it's all about john holmes, the murders, his missus, his ex wife and all the shit he did.. oh and val kilmer plays him so it's not bad on the eyes =D
Tell you what. The murder's taking place scene was one of the most brutal things I have ever seen in a movie.Damn it was worth the wait.Fucking awesome in a sick way.Them fuckers were flat serious and fucked them up past the point of being fucked up...I know crack dealers who would have you killed over a 10.00 rock "a princple thing" they say.
See? This is why I love Scott Michaels. I've always been interested in the Wonderland Murders, and finally some raw footage of the actual crime scene. This beats the hell out of the "E! True Hollywood Stories" about John Holmes and the Wonderland Murders. Thanks for the video!
I agree... this is the first time I have ever seen actual crime scene videos or photos for that matter. And I love the fact that he took us for a tour inside the place too!
Just had to post, being a long time lurker on Find A Death. I love what Scott does.....he knows that for the most part, we have a macabre fascination for thing like this, and thankfully, he indulges us.
Keep up the good work, Scott and all at Find A Death!
SO I just left Scott's myspace page and the pic of him in the house in front of the french doors in the living room..you can see a "for lease" sign behind him. It was for rent..wonder what lucky bastards got it!
Crime scenes are almost always video taped. Most don't get released though. I have seen one of the Tate scene, I can't remember where, but I have seen it.
Anyway, great job Scott..as always..one of the luckiest dudes on the planet!
I read that this case was actually first time that video was taken of a crime scene for use later in court. There are crime scene photos of the Manson murders, but no film that I know of.
Scott Micheals...did an awesome job. I wonder...how did he get the keys to the house??I would love to accompany him on the next tour. The house looks like it is small. I wonder what the market value of 8763 is today. THe road is soo small and creepy.
This house was for sale and he went in to look at it. Either for sale or rent, can't remember, but his myspace page has it on there. I saw that a few months back.
yea-the movie wonderland was crap. i was it was going to be like this video, but it was something else entirely. on the same note, however, that scene in boogie nights were the punisher tries to rob the arab guy is soo spooky now.
Did you go to the Wonderland school? My friend and I were there last night...my heart was pounding soo fast and my stomach had butterflies. It is so quiet and the houses are so close to each other. It's amazing that bloody night the neighbors thought it was a party..could't they tell from the screams??Did your dad live in the area when this occured.
no i live in colorado. my parents are divorced. i spend my summers where ever he is though. he moved into that house last fall. i actually discovered that the murders took place there on google earth. he didnt even know. we just called it the elvis house because there was a picture of elvis on the garage door.
Are you talking about the Wonderland house? Have you been there? I am so taken by this story, my daughter calls it "stuck". I can't help but wonder if there has ever been any paranormal activity in the house. I can imagine if all the souls,(including John) were sentenced to live there forever. Think about it. Wierd HUH?
I thought I was the only one that thought about this enough to dream about it!! I was 17 and I knew about John but knew nothing about Wonderland. I have read EVERYTHING I could find...Any idea where to find the police reports?? Yes, I'm a fact junkie.
Read "Long Time Money And Lots Of Cocaine" by Roger Jacobs, if you haven't already. It's the complete trial transcripts and includes testimony by Susan, the sole survivor of that night. Very chilling to hear her describe what it was like to be in that house during those murders.
I saw the TAPS episode of Ghost Hunters where they investigated a place close to the Sharon Tate murders...very spooky epidsode and one of thier best...lots of paranomal activity!
I actually sent an email to the TAPS website about 3 years ago about this house, but nothing ever came of it. I'd be willing to bet that the thought of investigating it has crossed the mind of at least one member of the team.
That was very interesting the Wonderland case always intrigues me,can anyone make out what record is shown in the living room? I have tried so many times and I am very curious...
I went back to the original source video of the vinyl records and magnified it and still couldn't tell - the original video is just too low-quality. It's clearly a photo of the band on the front with titles above and below, but I can't make any of it out.
did anybody video stoped at 5:07

@meatman310 if you consider letting people film you because you were born with a giant cock as being "on top", you really must be a glass-half-full kind of guy.
another way to phrase your point is, "He shouldn't have liked doing drugs more than showing his dick to people"

Those poor souls. How awful.

Poor souls?
ROTFL, you must be joking...a criminal gang and their b*tches are poor souls ?
AHHAAH.
Pergiacomo 2 years ago
What??? You saying the victims were criminals?
BRUTUALTRUTH 2 years ago
@BRUTUALTRUTH YES!!! The Wonderland gang robbed a high profile drug dealer named Eddie Nash and in retaliation Nash sent his men with John Holmes to Wonderland. You have to see the movie.
4stemcellresearch 1 year ago
@Pergiacomo this was a very scary crime scene to see how badly beaten they were for a robbery involving JOhn Holmes. Have you seen the movie?
4stemcellresearch 1 year ago
@BRUTUALTRUTH have you seen the movie 'Wonderland'??You have to see it. It is a good portrayal of the story and very close to fact. Both gangs were notorious not to mention they were crooks. Eddie Nash was the Pablo Escobar (somewhat) of Los Angeles back in the 70's.

i like the layout of the house but it would be way too creepy to live there after seeing this
dustydanktrees 2 years ago
Some rap duo, LMFAO I think they're called, lives in it now. Just is really creepy in my opinion, but they were on TMZ and seemed pretty excited about it bragging how it was the same house.
kehlis 2 years ago

It's amazing how Detective Tom Lange can walk through and narrate so calmly with bodies, blood and brain splatter all over the place--respect.

From what i heard on the commentary of the film Wonderland, i guess the reason why Cristina Applegate was involved with the film and decided to play such a small part was because she use to live like down the street from that house when she was a kid and one day was taking a drive with her parents and she remembers seeing the bloody matresses sitting in front of the driveway like some days after the murders.
amateurshooter 3 years ago 2
I guess it's just the whole idea of imagining that you're those people in bed, sleeping peacefully only to most likely waking up for a split second to see a silouhette figure of a man standing over you bashing your head in. It's so haunting. And its so weird that i was born just over a month after all this went down, August 23rd.
amateurshooter 3 years ago
For some reason this crime really got to me. It was just haunting. And watching this is just so eerie on so many level. The fact that it's basically unsolved, as far as not knowing whether John Holmes actually participated in the killings or whether he was only forced to watch. I had gotten the dvd of the movie and it came with crime scene video, on top of it watching the last like 5 minutes of the movie..yeah, gave me nightmares...
amateurshooter 3 years ago
I can totally relate to this crime really getting to you!! It does to me as well...its just so weird and creepy. Apparently it was a junkies den wasnt it? I would love to visit it:)
ralucagymnast 3 years ago
Well i don't know about junkie's den. A junkie's den would refer to someplace that's been abandoned or something like that. But it was a happening place back from around '78 or '79 to '81. That's where 80% of L.A.'s drugs were bought from. Hence why pornstar John Holmes would hang out in such a place. You should see the film Wonderland if you haven't already. Along with the film, in the special features they give the actual crime scene video. So eerie.

Melanienshell 3 years ago
nice.
ScinoBasher 3 years ago
Eddie didn't find that robbery too amusing, then again how would you feel if some m'fuckers came and took $1.2 mil in dope and jewellery. You'd be fuckin pissed! and all because they didn't know the Arab was Eddie Nash! the charming Holmes at work? unbelievable tale!
zosobonzorulz 3 years ago
Remember John Holmes was a fucking airhead. He had no sense,he was a basehead, coke head. He had no brains. He did all his thinking from his cock. "He had a mile of dick and no balls" - quoted from Det. Nico from the movie 'Wonderland',lol.

SO I just left Scott's myspace page and the pic of him in the house in front of the french doors in the living room..you can see a "for lease" sign behind him. It was for rent..wonder what lucky bastards got it!

Yes, it was/is for lease. I think they want $1700/mo for it.

Do the police always shoot a video of crime scenes? For instance, would they have done videos of the Manson murders?
That would be creepy but enticing footage.
merlin23 3 years ago 2
I read that this case was actually first time that video was taken of a crime scene for use later in court. There are crime scene photos of the Manson murders, but no film that I know of.

Scott Micheals...did an awesome job. I wonder...how did he get the keys to the house??I would love to accompany him on the next tour. The house looks like it is small. I wonder what the market value of 8763 is today. THe road is soo small and creepy.

This house was for sale and he went in to look at it. Either for sale or rent, can't remember, but his myspace page has it on there. I saw that a few months back.

4stemcellresearch 3 years ago
no i live in colorado. my parents are divorced. i spend my summers where ever he is though. he moved into that house last fall. i actually discovered that the murders took place there on google earth. he didnt even know. we just called it the elvis house because there was a picture of elvis on the garage door.
LABRATproductionz 3 years ago
Are you talking about the Wonderland house? Have you been there? I am so taken by this story, my daughter calls it "stuck". I can't help but wonder if there has ever been any paranormal activity in the house. I can imagine if all the souls,(including John) were sentenced to live there forever. Think about it. Wierd HUH?
martydel1 3 years ago
Maybe if you call TAPS or GHI, they'll investigate. I will admit that I've had thoughts and dreams about investigating that house.
JinxHexhazard 3 years ago
I thought I was the only one that thought about this enough to dream about it!! I was 17 and I knew about John but knew nothing about Wonderland. I have read EVERYTHING I could find...Any idea where to find the police reports?? Yes, I'm a fact junkie.
Thanks
martydel1 3 years ago
Read "Long Time Money And Lots Of Cocaine" by Roger Jacobs, if you haven't already. It's the complete trial transcripts and includes testimony by Susan, the sole survivor of that night. Very chilling to hear her describe what it was like to be in that house during those murders.
justinjonesauthor 3 years ago 2
I saw the TAPS episode of Ghost Hunters where they investigated a place close to the Sharon Tate murders...very spooky epidsode and one of thier best...lots of paranomal activity!
shanban74429 3 years ago
I NEED to find that episode.
JinxHexhazard 3 years ago
I actually sent an email to the TAPS website about 3 years ago about this house, but nothing ever came of it. I'd be willing to bet that the thought of investigating it has crossed the mind of at least one member of the team.

I went back to the original source video of the vinyl records and magnified it and still couldn't tell - the original video is just too low-quality. It's clearly a photo of the band on the front with titles above and below, but I can't make any of it out.
