  • first trains sounds like LA. Boston and NY combined :P

  • This bring back memories of riding the train in the DC Area.

  • I made Red line trains in Metro Center 2.

  • They sound kind of like the MBTA Bombardier Red Line trains from the 1990s. Did Bombardier have some involvement with the Washington D.C. subway system too?

  • @wileyk209zback Not that I know of, but that sound is common on trains with AC propulsion.

  • @wileyk209zback Actually, Bombardier supplied their MITRAC propulsion system for the 5000 series cars.

  • @wileyk209zback

these also sound like the LACMTA Red Line trains

  • I always remember the metro train from the sound of the brakes at 0:38

  • All I have got to say is what a magnificent system this was. I was in DC for the fourth and all I have got to say was this was the nicest transit system I have ever been on. I'm also considering about moving to DC after I finish college.

  • OMG I have to get that camera!! LOL.

  • do u have any video of Friendship Heights or Pentagon?

  • No, sorry. Only Pentagon City

  • @jdgator95 Do You have any videos of Branch Avenue?

  • @TheSubwayMustango I don't, sorry :(

  • yo wassup jdgator? yo man i love all your work, DC's metro system is my favorite in the whole world not just because I was born in the dc area but its the cleanest, most quiet and simply the best! and I know because I been on lots of subways (NY,LA,Philly,DC,Baltimore) DC really keeps their subway clean...anyways im wondering if u have video of Silver Spring Station (red line)...thats my hometown station so I wanna see...oh and do u have video of the new Metrobuses?

  • Thanks, sorry I don't have any silver spring video, I was only visiting DC for a little while. I do have some pictures of the new buses but not video in the DC area buses video I made

  • I noticed you were confronted by an employee re: filming. What do you usually do when this happens? I haven't been bothered in years by employees, but before they stopped bugging me, I started confronting them right back. I made them call Transit Police once, and Transit sided with me...

  • When filming up in Boston on the MBTA I'm confronted often, since until a few years ago filming was banned, and a lot of them don't know about the rule change. When they do that I usually just try and finish the shot, then say ok and walk to someplace just out of their site to film some more. I find it's quicker and easier than arguing, unless I'm filming something VERY important that I cant see again in a few minutes, since they can be very stubborn,

  • See, with Metro, unless you're using a tripod, they don't have a leg to stand on. Thus it's fun to screw with 'em a little.

  • "Can't use video", what a load of junk. Great video btw, Metro is one of my favorite systems.

  • Thanks!

  • that's awsome! I like how there isn't fencing in the middle so you can see the trains on the opposite side!

  • what's with the platform lights flashing @ 2:18?

  • Thats another neat thing about the metro, on the edge of all the platforms they have lights that flash when the train in approaching so people know to stand back

  • interesting. we should get the T to do that..maybe there will be money with Grabauskas gone now.

  • That would be neat but it would cost way to much money to install right now, and I think the yellow strips are just fine. Grabauskas resigning is actually more costly because they still have to pay him, plus paying the guy that replaces him.

  • true. i can just hope for now; good enough for me (:

  • @jdgator95 I grew up riding the Metro into and out of DC (PG County street rat), and my sister and I used to just STARE at those lights waiting for them to start flashing to let us know our train was coming in! That was half the fun of riding Metro-the other half was scoring a seat in the front car of the train so we could watch when we went into a tunnel or see the Cool "Disco" Dan tags along the Red Line.

  • Awesome!

  • awesome

  • Thanks!

  • I love the sounds of the metro trains. You get Boston 01800s from the Red Line, NYC R160s, and Baltimore/Miami chopper control combined!

  • Yeah me too, especially the buzzing noise the oldest trains make when they're just about to stop/start

  • Cool video! The Washington Metro is the nicest subway I have ridden. There so clean!

  • Yeah defenitley!

  • That's because the Metro is very anti-food. They don't allow any food or drink on the trains.

The other notable thing about the Metro is they have 8 car trains now I believe on the red line.

  • I always thought the food ban was a little ridiculous, but if that's what it takes so be it. I guess the people there are more proud of their system since its one of the best, because I didn't see any litter or vandalism anywhere on the metro during my entire trip!
