Depending on where your idea of the Middle East starts and stops there are a few minority languages but Armenian and Berber are not even slightly related to Arabic. I think the Druze speak a Syriatic language and that is related to Arabic but way back.

True, the /v/ sound exists in modern Israeli Hebrew and not in Arabic--but the "oo" sound in your example of "nobody move"--that's actually the opposite. In a typical Israeli accent the vowel in the English word "move"-- would come out like "to" or "do" --very short.

Intialy ATCs thought it was a grammer mistake with him being forigen they thought he made a mistake with his speech. after pulling the tapes they found that he meant planes as plural; more than one plane. hope that helps

I'm indian, but I was born in america and this is my country, but I was like 7 or 8 when 9/11 happened, so it's only now I'm starting to read the commission report and learn about it. But my dad told me this a few weeks ago. While my dad was at work, he saw 9/11 on the news (and we live close to NYC, so this hit close to home) And this black guy at his work told him to drive home and don't stop for anyone unless he knows its a real cop.

This is not the voice of a native Egyptian Arabic accent speaking English. The stresses on the ends of the words are quite different. Egyptian do not stress end syllables like this speaker. Native Hebrew speakers tend to "lift" the ends of words with consonants when speaking English, such as air-PORT, as do the Italians. This speaker lifts his end consonants consistent with a Hebrew speaker of English, NOT an Egyptian-Arabic speaker of English. Any linguist can tell the difference.

The voice on this recording is not of an Egyptian speaking English with an Arabic accent. It is an accidental transmission sent by an Israeli operative speaking English with a Hebrew accent. This man thought he was broadcasting only to people in the plane. He was CAUGHT IN THE ACT. How come when Atta is using the PA to speak to his passengers, it is in the context of a conversation with AT Control? He wasn't telling the air traffic controller to sit quiet and to not make any stupid moves, was he? ATC would have immediately called NORAD, and F-16s would have been dispatched within minutes, to intercept this off course, no transponder, flight
with a guy saying "dont make any stupid moves", and "We have some planes". This was at 8:23AM. Plane didn't crash till 8:46AM

I lived in the ME and worked with hundreds of native Arab speakers who were not living in Brooklyn but in an Arabic speaking country and from almost every Arab country.
It is hard for people to hear their own accent. Maybe you can not hear yours. I don't know that. I am just saying maybe.
You have something to lose by saying the accent is Hebrew. I don't. That does not make me right but perhaps more objective. Hebrew - clearly.

The film evidence of Atta boarding the flight was actually taken by an airport cam weeks earlier in Maine. His passport magically found in the trade center rubble when authorities could not locate tons and tons of gold that was stored under the WTC? Not likely. What is likely? Atta was never on the plane. And if one of the suspects were not on the plane, perhaps NONE of them were on the plane. Perhaps the terrorists were ALL Hebrew.

As I said earlier the clear, crisp "p" sound is the give away.
No question, Hebrew not Arabic.
In Hebrew the vowels are more or less like Italian or Spanish vowels. Pure vowels that is. i = ee, a = ah, o = oh, etc.
From country to country and from speaker to speaker Arabic vowels are much less consistent and not pure vowels.
The way this man says "move" as in "no body move" is definitively a Hebrew accent. Long "oo" sound. Crisp "v" sound characteristic of Hebrew but not Arabic.

Definitely not a Persian-sounding accent. Really, the accent is not easily identifiable... it is a mix of European and Middle Eastern--which makes sense for Atta, who although a native speaker of Arabic, had studied foreign languages (English, French) from a young age and had studied in Germany from his early 20s. He knew at least 4 languages fairly fluently.

I don't think you can say there is a "Middle-Eastern" accent.
Depending on where your idea of the Middle East starts and stops there are a few minority languages but Armenian and Berber are not even slightly related to Arabic. I think the Druze speak a Syriatic language and that is related to Arabic but way back.

The voice doesn't sound very Israeli to me, although there are Israelis raised outside of Israel who have similar accents--but they or their parents are usually not native-Hebrew speakers. Druze speak Arabic as their native language, not "Syriatic". Members of various Christian denominations in Iraq speak Syria or neo-Aramaic, also "Kurdish" Jews (so named not because they spoke Kurdish, but because they came from the Kurd region in Iraq). But they've all moved to Israel and now speak Hebrew

Persian and Arabic are not related languages linguistically. Persian uses Arbic script and borrowed words but the roots are totally different and the accents are distinct.

Depends on the background of the Hebrew-speaker. Many native Hebrew-speakers in Israel, particularly if their families came from Arabic-speaking counties preserve certain traditional phonemes in Hebrew that others do not, but it is disappearing. The standard native Hebrew Israeli accent uses a uvular /r/ (like French Parisian /r/) whereas in other Jewish communities they "trill" or "roll" the 'r".

Aside from the fact that it's already been established that it was in fact Mohammed Atta speaking, I'll indulge you and give you your "reasonable discussion". It's definitely not the accent of a native Hebrew speaker. You are, however, correct that it is also not a heavy Egyptian-Arab accent. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean the voice on the tape does not belong to an Egyptian. Did it ever occur to you that people can learn foreign languages well enough to lose their native accent? I've known many Arabs in the USA who spoke English without a heavy Arabic accent and learned how to pronounce /p/ (pizza) without saying /b/ (bizza).

It is easy to tell an Egyptian from a Lebanese or Suadi in Arabic but if you can tell an Egytian Arabic accent in English from a Lebanese Arabic accent in English then you are really an expert in Arabic and accents.
BUT - I still think you have not heard enough Hebrew speakers to know one when you hear one. Or, if you are Israeli maybe you can not hear your own accent.
I am very familiar with both accents and this recording is a Hebrew accent. No German and French influence at all.

I am Israeli, but I was raised in the States. Moreover, I was raised among the Syrian-Lebanese Jewish community in Brooklyn--most of whose members of a certain age speak English with a pronounced ARABIC accent. I hung out with enough Arabs at uni, from all different countries to be able to tell the diff. You don't have to be an expert to tell an Egyptian accent apart from Syrian/Lebanese (I have passive knowledge of Arabic) because Egyptians have a hard /g/ that Syrians & Lebas pronounce /j/.

True, the /v/ sound exists in modern Israeli Hebrew and not in Arabic--but the "oo" sound in your example of "nobody move"--that's actually the opposite. A typical Israeli accent would NOT elongate the "oo" vowel in English--it's the opposite, they would shorten it! Israelis don't have many diphthongs. In a typical Israeli accent the vowel in the English word "move"-- would come out like "to" or "do" --very short.

Despite the fact that I dont know what a Hebrew accent sounds like, I know that MOST native Arab speakers have difficulty pronouncing the گچ پژ (g,ch,p and zh)., whereas the speaker here does not. That makes me really skeptical

I posted comments in connection with another Atta video and a blogger named "911NeverForget" somehow blocked me from posting comments and changed the order of my posts. He also has a yellow highlighted strip above his name. What does this mean? Is he affiliated with youtube? He is covering up the truth and trying to throw people off track.
