  • hey nice drumming man, i love your videos, jealous of the kit, where would you think you could get one like that because i love the sound its ridiculous, the toms are different then average ones..and i just got a drum kit but i dont understand how to tune a drum kit, any ideas

  • Peart

    Pronounced

    Pert

  • @ibanezplayer76 Neil pronounced it Peert, as he did at the beginning of this video... /watch?v=lJ6AvR6E8-s

    So, it's Peert FTW.

  • Tape as a muffler = great! That's what I use...no sense spending $60 for mufflers when a roll of tape and some cardboard is only $5!

  • zach galafinakis is the narrator

  • I never get tired of youtube - there always someone like you who I can enjoy watching playing the drum. I caught your Toto -Hold the line. Someone said you needed more better drums.... DAMMM i think u got it... rock on sir!!

  • Nicely done - gotta bring down my ricky 2001 and jam ot out!! -Still play all Rush also

  • What sizes are all of the drums? Because the Concert toms are confusing me?

  • neil pEEEart?

  • Fair to say you are an insanely talented drummer

  • moby dick at 5:23 awesome

  • THE GUY NARRATING SOUNDS LIKE ALEX LIFESON!

  • What's the point of having two bass drums and a double pedal if you're using the double pedal on one bass drum ://///

  • @1996Dalli The second bass drum holds a Tom and the splash.

  • @CraigTube all you need to do is replace the pedal that's all!!! it doesn't matter if you have a splash and tom

  • @1996Dalli Why are you yelling? The kit is a replica of Neil Peart's old kit. All I did was replace the two pedals with a double peddle. The rest remains the same, and so it should.

  • @CraigTube no no dw i'm not yelling at you i'm just asking and telling you that's all :/

  • @1996Dalli When you have a double bass one of the pedals is on the side of the bass head , and dosen't give you the full sound of the bass drum

  • @1996Dalli some people prefer it becuz they like their double pedal better

  • oh so beautiful

  • Very Nice!!! Love the Kit and the playing! If your friend ever decides to sell them let me know!

I built a Neil Peart replica kit myself and love it! You can see it in my vids.

    Take care,

    Johnny

  • @jsillers Oh yes, I've seen many of your videos. Very impressive! The outside ones must have been a lot of work.

  • Very cool, thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • @Credative I'd love to ban you, but I'd rather the pleasure of telling you that you're an idiot.

  • @Credative Woah calm down there big boy! I was just telling you, you might want to try it out.

  • @Credative

    Tedious teen cock.

  • @milkminotaur Aww, I love you too.

  • Pronouced (pert)

  • @lp4711 Uh Oh. Another chance to prove someone wrong. Neil pronounces it Peert. /watch?v=lJ6AvR6E8-s

  • yes your voice does sound like Alex!

  • It's funny how you were talking for at least 34 seconds, then you bust out a kick-ass drum solo. You really awesome at the drums.

  • Dude you kinda sound just like Alex Lifeson. Is it just me or does anyone else notice this?

  • Dude! You Rock!

First off, I've been a fan of NP since 1982 and I've always kept track of his drum setup. The Candy Apple Red Tama kit has ALWAYS been my favorite NP setup of all time.

Your kit is in fact nearly identical to the famous Tama kit. It also sounds very similar to the original. Good job with the setup. You also rock pretty hard on these drums. I recognize the classic double bass drum lick from Neils solo, YYZ fill, and a few others.

    Thanks for posting!!

  • I would LOVE to see some more drum videos from you....

    Please...

    Pretty please...

Pretty please with a Homebrew Chocolate Stout on top!!!!

    :-)

  • You may have neils' kit but your VOICE sounds A LOT like alex ! anyone agree??

  • @gwb911 I'm 44 years old. Don't be an idiot or ya get banned.

  • 1:33 he's like THIS IS HOW ITS DONE, YOU WHIPPER-SNAPPER!!!!! christ im high...

  • DUUUUDE...I will KIIL to play your drum kit !!

  • thats is a very nice drumkit i heave the same ;-) rock on

  • really nice drum!!!

  • There is a ludwig 8 piece set with a double bass pedel and a hi hat stand for 450 dollars should i get it? someon answer me please

  • @WelcomeWakinyan I would.

  • Neil Peart....best drummer ever....

  • *Tama

  • What kind of Yama set is that And what kind of concert tom are those?

  • You should get the sabian paragons like neli peart

  • @WelcomeWakinyan Of course I should, if I win a lottery. :)

  • @CraigTube LOL. OR.............mortgage a SECOND-LOAN on your HOME possibly?? LOL.

  • what sizes are the tom toms? and how high are they tuned, im trying to get that high tight tom sound peart has.

  • @6Moocows They are 6, 8, 10, 12, 12, 13, 15, 18 inches from top to bottom. As for tuning, you're best to listen to Peart's YYZ solo on Exit Stage Left. I figured out the notes, but I don't remember what they are. IF you put the song in an audio editor, you can loop each tom hit and map them out on a keyboard. That's what I did. The hardest tom to get is the first closed tom (12'). It's very hard to pick out.

  • @CraigTube that first closed 12" i s always easy to hear on Moving pictures such a distinct sound

  • @kevmckiv I know what you mean, and it's a bugger to tune. It's very hard to hear the pitch of Neil's first 12, it almost has two tones to it.

  • im sorry for this stupid question but im kinda new to drums and what are those ones called that are the smallest that are above your hi-hat?

  • @JIgSaw5581 Those are open concert toms.

  • 4:26 Oh snap!

  • So cool Craig, really enjoyed this upload -- thanks man.

  • Craig, can you do a cover of The Camera Eye please? Thanks! :)

  • that kit was affectionately called "The Weapon" I believe.

  • 3:10 souns like YYZ - Rush, i would love to see you playing YYZ on that drum kit. Martin from Argentina

  • Can u please do a drum cover please i would to this in action with a Rush song!

  • I would give fortune to have a go at that monster! You're a lucky bastard! =D

  • All u need are the bass drum covers with the Rush sign!!!! great drums where could u get these and how much would they be!!!???? Thanks Wakinyan!!!

  • that snare sounds great!

  • sorry for mi ignorance bur, im a fan of rush but i everyone knows the videos thats appear at 0:49 =D

    Thanks for your answer

PS : nice video and nice drums kits. Keep rockin /m/

  • It almost broke my heart when Neil moved to a single bass setup but with age comes wisdom - I find the single bass drum with double pedal a little easier to work with as it makes switching from double bass to hi-hats that much easier.

  • @am1933 I agree. I put the second pedal right beside the HH pedal.

  • you play fantastic brother well done.

  • Hey very nice vid, I had an old Swingstar very similar color not sure what those are. I have the exact same ear protectors ahhhh brings back old memories, i had a piccolo snare just to the left of the hi-hat as well. They look great though, is that a ping ride you have ? sounds like a normal ride. Great setup and great playing!

  • btw you should make more videos with his kit it sounds and looks amazing ;p

  • and honestly wouldnt make a rep kit of that album id do hempispheres or 2112 but still sick man ;p and @moehead7 Sabian is the owners of zildjians brother there use to be 2 zildjian companys one in canada and one in usa thats why some old zildjians says made in canada what happened was the dad (the original owner) gave it to the first son and the brother got mad and split up zildjian and created sabian which is the zildjian company in canada

  • @Monkeyabortions07 There you go. Thank you for that.

  • lol he says his name correcly and even if he didint how does that make him not a big fan lool hes playing a neil peart replica kit

  • man, that is a rather sweet kit, now all you need to do is change the front bassdrum heads with some that are solid black and put the two large starman logo"s on it, i believe you can find them on ebay or maybe your local music store, i have one for mine but never used it.............not yet anyway

  • Get ahold of a replica of his kit from the Hemispheres tour. "That" was cool!!

  • For all you nimrods who think he's pronouncing Neil's mast name incorrectly, he is in fact pronouncing it correctly. I read a blurb back in the 80's in Modern Drummer stating that Neil hates it when his last name is pronounced "Pert". He said, "Pert is a shampoo".

  • your voice sounds like Alex Lifeson's.

  • sick kit man im a huge rush fan!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you arent a fan, say neil pearts name properly

  • @TD7516 He pronounces his own name that way. Get your facts before you spew.

  • @TD7516 watch?v=-cO88CvsuP4

    Any questions?

  • @TD7516 He does say his name right, so you arn't the fan

  • @TD7516 wow dude you are retarded he did say it properly if you were here i would slap you

  • @TD7516 he does say it right dumbass

  • Tama are an awesome drum kit, beautifully made. I'm a guitarist but I own a Pearl 12 piece drum kit for I'm recording. If I hadn't got the pearl already, I probably would have bought the Tama.

  • Sabian is not made by Zildjian.

  • @moehead7 You are correct. I don't know why I wrote that. I must have been thinking of another product where the bigger company owns the smaller.

  • @CraigTube - I thought the story went that there were two brothers who owned Zildjian, then they came to some disagreements and one brother broke off and started Sabian. I could be wrong.

  • "I apparently can borrow them for as long as I want". You sir, are an ass. Enjoy! ;)

  • @drumrnva Comment revised. I think you meant that as a complement. Cheers!

  • Man all you need to have a professor kit now is the really ugly electronic drums

  • 4:01- Walk this way by Aerosmith? BTW your an awesome drummer

  • I like your style man, really nice. I noticed you had a mix of zildjian and sabian cymbals. Do you have a preference? and why? I have zildjian and can't ever see myself switching. I'm just curious on your thoughts.

  • Why would you guys fight over something so horrible? who gives a crap about how you pronounce his name? Just listen to his musical genous, and btw, dude. I am a 13 year old who has been listening to rush since I was 10 and probably knew more than more about them at this point of your life so HA! dont mean to sound jerkish, but you were a jerk first "Craig"

  • probably one of the nicest replikits i've seen, not an easy kit to replicate on a budget.

  • you look wierd

  • peeert?

  • You cant even pronounce his last name. Thats weird considering your a huge fan. If you type it in on udoo.wirefly, its pernounced with a short 'e' sound. And if you here peopel talking about him. I dont think your canadian accent has to do with it. I guess the foudner of canada was retarded and had a broke nose. Nah Im playing youre awesome and I love the kit :p keep rocking

  • @mairava1996 Thank you for the complement, but I must get rude here. The man himself pronounces it that way. I am sick of this debate and refuse to spend any more time on it. It's pronounced Pee-art, and that's the way he says it. :) Please read the comments below. Neil was born in Canada, in Hamilton Ontario, at Henderson hospital, the same hospital where I was born at, and I can practically see it from my house up the street. Find me an interview where it's pronounced Pert. Cheers :)

  • I know he says it that way. He pronounces his own last name wrong lol. Idk if he doesnt know how his common last name is spelled or its his accent, but thats how he likes to pronounce it, but that doesnt mean thats how it is pronounced. He can say it that way all he wants, that doesnt change the vocabulary.

  • @mairava1996 WOW, you obviously don't know your ass from your elbow, it's PEERT

how about knowing facts before you start to be a douche to someone.

  • @sgtpepper1138 Im not being a douche. And it isnt pronounced peert. If he wants to pronounce his name way, thats fine, but its not the proper grammar. I thought I was the douche here. get lost.

  • @mairava1996 So what you're saying is it's pronounced pert? If so you're wrong, it's peert just like CraigTube says.

    have a listen

    watch?v=-cO88CvsuP4

  • @sgtpepper1138 I know he calls himself fucking Peert and the guy with him does. But that doesnt mean its really pronounced that way. Like my last name is Chauncey. Its pronounced choncey or chohncey, but if I pronounced it chancey, that doesnt mean it's pronounced chancey. Because the thousands of people have my last name and say it different and generators say it differently, and when the last name was created the creator made it to be pronounced differently.

  • @mairava1996 He calls himself "FUCKING Peert??"

"Hi this is Neil Fucking Peert for DW Drums"

  • @sgtpepper1138 Duh? Thats his middle name.

  • @mairava1996 When it comes to names, you can't rely on grammar. My last name is Farraway, pronounced Fair-a-way, not far-away. A name's origin will determine how it's pronounced. Do you say Cnife when you say knife? In beer making, wort is pronounced wert. So, Neil says his name that way because where the name originated, that's how it was pronounced. This I'm not totally 100% on, but I believe Peart is of French origin. It's pronounced Pee-art, but the lazy pronunciation yields Peert.

  • @CraigTube Well, when I say pronounce, I mean thats its origin and how its properly said. Ive known and heard people with the same last name and sya it differently. I dont want to debate anymore lol. I'll pronouce it Pee-art though

  • @CraigTube exactly

  • You cant even pronounce neil pearts last name

  • Very cool!

  • Wait a second, how do you say his name wrong?! That's insulting, you're not even a rush fan yet you have Peart's replica, although his toms all have two heads on them, but whatever

  • What are you talking about? I have heard the man himself say his own friggin name dude. It's pronounced "pe airt". I've been a Rush fan for 30 years. Also, his old kit, like this one, has top and bottom heads on the larger toms, and only top heads on the four concert toms. Shows what YOU know.

  • he just has 4 rack toms, 8 heads, and 4 floor toms, 8 heads, and all the other snares and shit

  • Ya, that's now dude. I'm talking about his old kit from the 80s and 90s.

  • okay, well i don't really think it's anything to argue about cuz he's like the best drummer in the world

  • Well, that's debatable. You might want to look up some Dave Weckl.

  • Possibly

  • @AlexjBartlett you know truly nothing about rush, especially peart (which by the way is pronounced peert) and his kit.

  • cool, maybe you can go fuck off cuz this argument is already over

  • "The snare" should have been a Slingerland radio king Neil used in that era. An improvment over the original would be modern drumheads like evans ec-2 sst and emad kick batter heads. Other than that, Tama made superb drums and hardware back then. Solid construction and powerful sound.

  • who borrows drums no life

  • Ahh, a wee bit jealous, are we? LOL

  • i'll tell you who borrows drums - CRAIG!

    and he has a life.

  • When are we going to see some Rush covers Craig?!

  • Hopefully soon. By basement is a mess right now.

  • what song are you playing at 4:00-4:06?

  • @arthatter12345 That is "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith.

  • dude...+1 on the correct (by the best of my knowledge) pronunciation of "Peart"

  • Well I do know that in every interview I've ever seen of Neil, the interviewer pronounces it "peert", with Neil sitting right there, so I guess that's a pretty good indication as to how it's pronounced.

  • Yea man you rock on the kit, stick with it and get in a band. I love that kit. I always loved this setup. I still want this setup or a keith moon set which is basically the samething with tom side mount on the first bass drum next to the hi hat. I think that is so coo.

  • I used to have the same Sabian B8 13" hats when I was a kid! I loved them. lol

  • haha, well that works out well for you then! After seeing this I attempted to add on my other toms but I couldn't stand it, I am so accustomed to having the 4 piece with the ride cymbal moved in close to me that I found myself out of my element with the bigger kit.

  • Phenomenal man! Your a powerhouse behind the kit. What breed is your kit? Are you still "borrowing" this one? lol

  • Ya, still "borrowing". He's got no where to put it, unless he sells it, and I doubt he'll bother doing that. Thanks!

  • U should get some sabian neil peart paragons if you really want to replicate his drums and mayb get some good remo powerstripe heads

  • Why would he want to do such a horrible thing? The Sabians suck compared to the classic Zildjians.

  • vaportails44 u have no idea what your talking about yes some lower line sabians are cheap in quality but the best sabians are the CUSTOM!!! NEIL PEART PARAGONS. THEY R THE BEST SABIANS OUT THERE SO U SHOULD KNO WHAT THEY R B4 U GO TALKING ABOUT THEM.

  • excellent snare work esp for a guy his age.

  • Thank you. I'm 43 by the way.

  • Pronounced "purt" not "peert"

  • Not true. I'm not going to go through the trouble of digging up all the videos again, but there are interviews with Neil and the interviewer always pronounces it Peert, with Neil sitting right there. I have also heard Neil say his own name once, and he said Peert. It's not Purt, It's Peert. I think the man knows how to pronounce his own name.

  • Pee-art is just how canadians say Peart

    it's like "about" is "aboot"

  • Well, not really. Certain regions of Canada say it that way because it's a residual Irish pronunciation. Not all Canadians say it that way, just like not all Americans say cain't instead of can't. But anyway, Peart is properly pronounced "Peert".

  • Comment removed

  • nope. almost just as many people in the us say pee-art as people in canada. i say peart and im canadian. p.s jalepeno is pronounced with an h sound ;)

  • you a very talent, craig. just checked your channel.

a chef, musician and brew master.

  • Hi Craig,

Is there noting you can't do?

Sing, play drums(really well btw) and make beer. whats next man?

    I know, president.

Nice vid, keep up the good work.

    Robbie

  • Cool set man, can I take care of your old drumset while you take care of that one ;)? Lol just kidding. But seriously, being in college and not being able to afford drums sucks =(.

  • see derekd2112 too for cool rush covers live

  • Colonel Sanders plays drums. Never woulda guessed

  • Blocked for your ignorance. :)

  • 4:00 Walk this waaaaaaaaaay

  • is 6:26 painkiller by judas priest?

  • ha ha i love how u go insane on the drums

  • PEEEEEEEEEERRT.

    Not Purt.

The man himself pronounces it PEE-ERT

  • Really nice kit and ya drummin aint half bad either

  • craig you are very talented, keep it up, i would like to get your honest opinion on my zanfir sings country video on my page, give it a listen if you have a minute

  • Its pronounced Purt!!! not peert!!! retard

  • Are you sure? The man himself pronounces it Peert, and in all of the interviews he has been on, the interviewer calls him Peert! The guy was born in the same hospital as I was, here in Hamilton Ontario, So I think I know how to pronounce his name, dumb idiot!

  • Man, I'm tired of this argument, I'm going to get to the bottom of this, and find some proof. I'll get back to you.

  • your an asshole and neil pearts drumset went all the way around him.

  • Not until he got into the electronics. All he had back there was a gong, and chimes.

  • Have you met him Starment5? I doubt it so how would you know? There are different pronunciations so don't call him a retard. People say things in different ways asshole.

  • Wrong!! pEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEart

  • hey craig also wanted to know how do u go about getting a youtube channel started.like to film my studio let me know thanks.also my favorite video is evning with a freind alwys watch that one

  • Hello. Well you already have a channel. You just have to get your video onto your computer somehow and while logged in to youtube, upload the video. If you mean how do you encode the video, that's a whole other post. mpeg4 or windows media video, (wmv) are the best, but divix will work I believe.

  • hey craig like the drums next to john bonham.neil peart was one of the best drumers around

  • How do you mount that splash cymbal on the bass drum? The one next to the concert toms.

  • It clamps onto the lip on the front of the bass drum, like a C clamp.

  • Do you know the specific name of it? I've always wanted to mount a cymbal on my bass drum, but I can't find the clamp for it.

  • I don't know. You could call
