SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. I was able to burn the Utopia boot disc and 1 other game (Midway Greatest Hits Vol1) they are both small files 100mb. When I try to burn other games that are around 700mb IT NEVER WORKS! Also they say use 8x speed but the slowest it will let me is 16x. What am I doing wrong????

I followed your tutorial and this seems to work consistently. There were games that i used disc juggler for and they would not work, thinking it might be the images but i thought why not give alcohol a try and this seems to work every time, Not sure of the difference but if you have some that work on disc juggler but not all of them try using alcohol and see if that helps, thanks for the tutorial.

How come it's so easy to play games burnt on CD-R's for the Dreamcast when you consider that if you wanted to do the same thing on the Saturn or the PS1 you'd have to go through all the hassle of that disc swapping stuff? Just seems weird to me that a newer machine would be far more vulnerable to piracy.

This will only work if at the back for your DC in a circle it has a one (1) not two (2).

Unfortunately, games that are over 700MB have to have data trimmed out. Usually video and/or audio will be compressed to get it to fit on a CD-R. Some times audio tracks will be removed. Also, there's over burning. Basically over burning will burn data past the "safe point" of the CD. For example, you can get up to 734MB of data (842MB of audio) on a 700MB CD-R using over burning. However, some drives could be ruined if the burn leaves the edge of the disc.

@UFCFAN18 I think if you look at the bottom of the Dreamcast, you'll see a distinct circle with either a 1 or a 2 in it; only the 1's can play back-ups without a mod-chip.

CD-Rs Only. You can adjust the laser's potentiometer (increase the power output) to read CD-RWs, but it will probably burn out the laser in a short period of time. My buddy did it back in the day and it worked for two weeks. After that his DC wouldn't even read retail games. Personally I use Blu Ray discs for all my backups. When I run out of those I use either HD-DVDs or Laserdiscs. In a pinch I use VHS tapes or even 8-Tracks. Right now I'm playing Shenmue on 3.5 inch floppies.

By the way the game disc can be a 2 track or a 1 track and it can still work just the first track is the Boot file so the game can self boot without the need of a Boot disc.

So, i've set everything up like this video. Checked to make sure the backups were selfboot. Got the utopia bootdisk just in case NTSC dreamcasts couldn't read PAL games without it. And still, the games won't work. I got Test Drive Le Mans, Crazy Taxy, and GTA2. The only thing I have gotten to work was Shenmue disk 1 (the only one I burned). Any suggestions? And I made sure I did all the settings correctly.
