I used to train dogs the same, way but I think you need to get much bigger pigs to train on, the dogs can get cocky and think all pigs are easy to grab, training on small pigs causes the dogs to get hurt when they hit a big boar with sharp tusks.
I'm open to alternative training methods that are effective and won't kill my dogs. Please let me know what you would do. Thanks for watching. That dog is not aggressive toward people or other dogs now that he is hog hunting. Please understand I am not doing this to be cruel toward dogs or hogs. This is a sport that I have grown to love and sometimes dogs, hogs, and people get hurt as with any outdoor sports.
i can't believe this is even allowed on youtube!! this is absolutly horrible!! those pigs don;t stand a chance in a fenced in yard you prick!! i'd like to put that dog on you in a fenced in area and see if you could get away! i LOVE my pit more than anything else and i totally stand by the breed and hunting but there are ways of training them to hunt without being so cruel!! you should be very ashamed of yourself!!
This dog is a house pet. If I didn't do anything with him his next move was to the grave yard. I didn't want to put him in the "brush" when he had never seen a wild hog before. I wanted to give him a chance "mate". The only thing that gives "dogging pigs" and "pitbulls" a bad name is you. I know what a big hog can do to an inexperienced dog, I have seen it. There is nothing wrong with what we did, there is an open season for hogs in this area with dogs or not.
